Hot chocolate is amazing. I like it best with marshmallows and a candy cane. :)
My parents' mixed drink recipe book suggested adding peppermint schnapps and whipped cream, so I'll try that next time.

Same. I drink far more soda than is healthy... though unfortunately it's a lot cheaper (and larger-sized) than healthier drinks at school.

I'll take part as well.

ZeRoc is 57 years of age. He is legally allowed to drink. His choice to abstain is a morally respectable one that no one should take issue with.

It's not idealistic, it just depends on the kid.

Elune wrote:I'm not sure what idealistic community you grew up in but myself and most of my friends started smoking, drinking and experimenting with various substances around 12 or 13.
I wouldn't quite call it "idealistic" at all. It really depends on the environment you grow up in, and not everyone is the same. For instance, some young people in my family started drugs and drinking very early, around the same age as you and your friends; I had one sip of liquor once in my early teens, but didn't touch anything until my twenties. And that's growing up with an old hippie who would drink and smoke into a stupor. Besides, i's one thing to experiment and judge for yourself, but let's be real, it's not like drugs or drinking in excess is cool, anyway, the same way other things in excess aren't cool. Saying things like "There's drinks that are non-alcoholic?" just makes you look incredibly stupid. Or it's the adult in me talking.

But yeah, it's not really about it being lofty or anything. Different people live and grow up with different standards. Different strokes for different folks n'at.

You know what is a real problem? Bookstores. Why can't I walk into one without getting another book? I need more bookshelves... :wat:

Some of us were too busy being children at ages 12 & 13 to experiment with drugs and alcohol.

Didn't grow up in a suburb, so I didn't get earlybird access to drugs or women.
Fortunately, I did get earlybird access to alcohol.

EDIT: To explain, it was only a few times, mostly in Europe.

I grew up in a strict Hispanic household. We all would've gotten our asses kicked if we had done all of that.

We lived distant from the main suburbs that fed my middle and high schools, so I'm pretty glad I didn't get involved in all the angsty pot/meth/coke and preggers culture that was rampant through that area.

And yeah, my parents probably would have kicked me out if I came home with any babies or a meth addiction. For some reason they seemed to be open to alcohol, though.
Suppose it was a trust thing.

I grew up as a stay indoors kid in a strict LDS household... not much more to add to that, never been tempted, or even had the chance (or wanted) to do either. The only drugs I did was Zyrtec in allergy season and Benadryl when that wasn't enough.

I don't smoke nor drink. Only drink if it's a special occassion and it's not really that much. Nor do drugs. And yes, i'm aware that coffee is techincally a drug due to the caffeine in it but let's just keep this simple.

Having experienced first hand the effects of drugs in excess, I wouldn't say it's very cool, nor is the experience of a necessary detox. However I would say it's largely unfair the general view of people who've never tried any drugs then dismissing anyone with a problem out of hand as it being entirely their own fault with no thought to context or situation.
