Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
When I play Skyrim nowadays, I get bored of exploring/questing. Nowadays, I tend to mess with the console. I also vow to never install a mod.

Just saying, you are missing out on a lot by not using mods.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
Jeelius, I vowed the same and my life has changed since I started. But on topic, I noticed last night playing my Altmer conjurer that she is particular about which spells go in which hand. Summons and staffs only in the right hand, destruction and alteration in the left. Since I'm right handed, all my characters use their swords with their right hands.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
As for spells, I'm peculiar about that too - defensive and healing spells in the left hand, destruction and other offensive spells in the right; think of it as the magical equivalent of shield and sword.

Same thing here. When I try and fight with offensive weapons in the left hand it just feels way off to me and when I dual wield I have a tendency to forget that I'm holding anything in the left hand because it feels so awkward swinging a sword like that. Also when I use the left hand to swing weapons it seems to go a lot slower though that might be just me.Dohvakiin2012 wrote:Jeelius, I vowed the same and my life has changed since I started. My only two real habits are, one, that if I'm walking down the road and there's nobody around but a couple of farmers or a hunter or something like that off a random encounter I will automatically go out of my way to chase them down and kill them. Two, I collect ingredients obsessively, to the point where I checked the ingredients tab of my main character's inventory today and realized that I was taking up at least 200 carry weight with alchemy ingredients that I never used.

I guess the jumping? If I'm running down a road from point A to something shiny, I find that I jump a lot along the way. Especially if I'm going downhill or even down stairs outside. Like when I'm leaving Dragonsreach, I'm going for distance down those stairs.
Just an Orc skipping down the road. That's not unusual, right?

^^Hahaha.
All of my characters rotate their companions. I mean, for the Divine's sake, Skyrims husbands can only stand to watch the children so long before they lose their minds, right? And someone has to watch them while Dovahkiin mama is out slaying dragons. And they have their favorites: Lieth the Bosmer prefers Marcurio (since she's forbidden from hanging out with Talvas), Sylmirie prefers her husband over any other follower because most people annoy her...although she has an odd fondness for Mjoll, and Felina is attached at the hip to Serana.
The Bosmer takes Meeko on treasure and animal hunts alone though, because the dog needs his time biting into people as well.

He must, since she doesn't come home for weeks on end. Onmund doesn't seem the jealous type though. But you know those mages. She might just wake up lit on fire one day.Elune wrote: Does Felina's husband know she and Serana spend so much time... together?

I'm also planning on making a Redguard but there are no Reguard men to be married which is disappointing.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
Not really a habit but still quite weird.
Sometimes for a bit of r and r I will go to an inn, change into my fine clothes and circlet, and then, as the bard is singing/playing, I will nudge the control stick slighty to the left and right to make it look like my character is having a dance.
I find it quite amusing.
I never eat or drink things, but for boogie times I will have some alcohol and perhaps a sweetroll.
Ah, that's Fredas night!

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
Elune, my thief married Vilkas...though I don't recommend him because he interrupts her whenever they're together around town and she gets the urge to pickpocket.
Does anyone else decorate their homes to perfection? My assassin and thief characters keep tidy homes, but my Altmer mage leaves her crap everywhere and has a hard time finding things.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
@dohva I do quite like to decorate, but have given up trying to drop the fancy jugs so theyre just where I want them, so there tends to be a few things lying around.
I keep my extra weapons n armour in the bedroom chest (where I always find Lydia sitting, she has her own bloody room, use it woman! Ooo how she angers me so) and I keep spare potions and metals in the alchemy study chest (with ingredients in the apothecary satchel).

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
I usually do the same, but there are two blacksmiths that I like to interupt at a certain point in their dialogue.Lethandhrel One-Eye wrote:- Let the NPCs finish their sentences when I talk to them
Adrianne Avenicci: "I don't claim to be the best blacksmith in Whiterun..."
and
Oengul War-Anvil: "Everyone says Eorlund Gray-Mane is the best smith in Skyrim..."
I imagine my characters saying "Thanks for the warning, Adrianne" or "Thanks, Oengul, I'll go see him, instead."
And I imagine them saying "But, I wasn't finished yet!"
I have also given up on trying to decorate for that same reason. My dysfunctional stealth-mage character has a Bee in a Jar, upside down, on the table in Honeyside's enchanting room. I think that's it. She has a couple of Dibella statues that I wanted to use as decorations, but I can't place them upright. I might just have her throw the statues in the bed. I don't know why she would do that, but it wouldn't be the only thing I don't understand about that character's behavior.Aarah wrote:I do quite like to decorate, but have given up trying to drop the fancy jugs so theyre just where I want them, so there tends to be a few things lying around.
Another weird habit, I guess, is that I don't use or move any of the stuff that comes with the homes if it wasn't in a container to begin with. Food, ingredients, soul gems, ingots, etc. All of that stuff stays right where it was. And I don't harvest the Honeyside garden. I am glad I didn't because Character #1, the dysfunctional one, picked some flowers in Riften and Whiterun, and they never respawned like they were supposed to, even after spending >30 days away from those cities. So unfortunately, Riften and Whiterun are less colorful for that character - at least she has her garden. That's the basis for my "Keep Skyrim Beautiful" rule, not allowing characters to harvest flowers.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
Forgot to mention that wherever possible I go through a dungeon clockwise, and where there's two flights of stairs (like in Understone Keep or the Blue Palace) I go up the left one and down the right one; anything else is bad luck.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
When in doubt underground, I use the left hand rule - always make left turns, especially in TESI: Arena. For conservatives, go ahead and use the equally effective right hand rule.
As with some others, defensive/healing spells in the left hand, attacking spells in the right. As some clever poster noted, it's the magical equivalent of sword and shield.
In TESIV:Oblivion, I always preferred the armorer in Chorral, and in the basement of Frostcrag Spire the chests were each topped by a sample of what was inside - heavy armor, arrows, etc. Yeah - OCD much?

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
I leave offerings at altars when I want to receive a blessing.
After 'activating' or 'opening' a door to a next cell, I turn around and walk back just before the next cell loads. Don't know why.
I don't loot bodies of non-evil humanoids. That doesn't include people like bandits however.
I try to sleep everyday, even if I don't have a mod of any kind that requires it.
When I'm a warrior-character and I use two-handed weapons exclusively, I always use third person when in combat because I find it easier to deal with enemies that way, especially when guiding a sprinting power attack. I also regularly switch from third person to first and back, because my character looks hot.
I don't go selling stuff to merchants I don't like.

Re: Any weird habits in Skyrim?
Let's see, I have a couple:
- Pick up every alchemy/smithing ingredient I see. Yes, even every Chaurus Egg while I have thousands already.
- Avoid books as much as possible. I picked up this habit to avoid wasting skill books.
- Avoid discovering dungeons (turn it white on the map) but not clearing them. This is to make it easy to remember what the character has or hasn't done yet.
- Remove all clutter from houses I use as a home. The house just doesn't feel like "truly mine" unless I sold off all the preexisting crap that was in there.
- Postpone marriage until I have a house that I can offer the wife to live in. It just doesn't feel right to make big commitments while you are a homeless bum
- Collect Centurion Dynamo Cores. I know I will never use them for anything. They are just so shiny!

My completionist playthrough was with a Dunmer and for the sake of RP I never opened the burial urns given the Dunmer ancestral reverence
Still can't bring myself to loot the dead. I mean - if it's a draugur or skeleton that tried to kill me that's one thing, but no touching the silent ones on the shelf or the urns otherwise
