Silly/weird things you always do in Oblivion
One thing I tend to do in my recent playthroughs, is to take off my armour after the end of the main quest, and put on the Mythic Dawn robe (it is unsellable given its value at 0, so may as well keep it...) and walk around the Imperial City. It just feels so refreshingly ridiculous to walk around the Capital dressed in the robes of those who assassinated the Emperor only a few weeks before and being hailed as the saviour of the nation....

The only time I carry the Skeleton Key is during 'The Ultimate Heist'. And I leave it in Oncanto's chambers right before I leave the palace.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Re: Silly/weird things you always do in Oblivion
I must always close every Oblivion Gate I find. Mostly because it feels weird to just ignore them. Too many riches to just walk by. All those Daedra hearts and other ingredients. On the same strand, that means I usually wind up closing between 50-60 of them. This time, I'm aiming to close them all. Which is actually 60. I think.
Also, I love running around as a Stage Four Vampire and tormenting people. Only reason I do that is because I removed the sun damage. I pretend it's still there, but it isn't. I like messing around too much. I used to do the same in Skyrim, but Dawnguard got rid of that. Now it's just Oblivion.

All my charactors, regardless of class, always carry an ordinary useless knife around with them. It's kind of hard to skin or butcher a critter for its pelt, hide, skin, heart or meat with a sword, axe or mace.

Re: Silly/weird things you always do in Oblivion
I always carry a set of tableware (fork, knife, spoon, a drinking vessel and a bowl) with me, and often also some food items and a bottle of beer/wine. It would feel stupid to go into wilderness sometimes for days without having any eating utensils or provisions. So it's just a little immersion thing. On the other hand, I rarely eat or drink in-game, so it's kind of contradictory too.
In the chapels I always "bow" by moving the mouse up and down before and after using an altar. With female characters I make a "curtsey" by briefly toggling sneak on and off. My characters usually are at least moderately religious, so I'd imagine they would show some respect in holy places. I do the same bow/curtsey routine when meeting counts or other luminaries, too.
Lastly, lately I've taken up the habit of using only my fists when fighting against mudcrabs, rats, wolves and other such petty vermin. You see, there's no sense wasting good enchanting charges on such non-threatening enemies.
Me, too. First off, what kind of a hero I'd be if I let them be? Secondly, they are so ugly they mar the landscape, so closing them also beautifies the environment.I must always close every Oblivion Gate I find.

Re: Silly/weird things you always do in Oblivion
I was thinking that (about the 'hero' aspect) as well. Funny thing is I do it even if my characters aren't really a hero.Nord85 wrote: Me, too. First off, what kind of a hero I'd be if I let them be? Secondly, they are so ugly they mar the landscape, so closing them also beautifies the environment.
I mean, Telanis is -to an extent- but she started as a criminal and that's what she eventually returns to.
The thing is that closing the Gates leaves behind a scar on the land. That scar might fade over time, but it's going to linger for ages. Closing it won't immediately cure the ugly. I tend to stand in front of them (while under chameleon) and stare. Mostly wondering if the textures used for the tendrils/portal could be improved upon, but sometimes just admiring the contrast between Tamriel and Oblivion.
On the few times I've been through the Shivering Isles, my characters seem to wind up acting erratically the longer they spend in the Isles. Usually only shows up once they've taken the place of Sheogorath. The change from their normal behavior is suitable, really.

The Skeleton Key is a wee bit overpowered. Ordinary lockpicks get me through just fine.PrinceJonathan wrote:Ok I'll bite, WHY?!!Dark Spark wrote:The only time I carry the Skeleton Key is during 'The Ultimate Heist'. And I leave it in Oncanto's chambers right before I leave the palace.

I never wear armor. I always run around in my favorite outfit, composed entirely of clothes. I also tend to pick up all the ingredients I see, which can get quite annoying when exploring.

I always have to keep at least 5 Mandrake Roots on my person at all times, and I hardly ever catch any diseases. Not that they're even that debilitating.

I take my armor off when I arrive to a city. It doesn't feel right, to waltz around town like I own the place.
Also, there is always, always, a sweetroll in my inventory.

I jump everywhere I go, and always carry around gear to boost acrobatics to the max. Then I try parkour. I have scaled Akatosh by just jumping, from inside and outside the temple. Since you can pick up two of Akatosh's blessings this way, I become basically invincible.

Everytime I walk past a guard and they ask "What is it, citizen?", I start singing Faith No More's "Epic".
I wish my character could actually sing it in-game and get the whole district singing and dancing. Then when the song is over, everyone takes a beat to wonder what the hell just happened, and then they realize I've stolen everybody's pants and disappeared.

I had planned on filling up the Imperial city home from top to bottom with stolen books, but I was lazy and didn't bother.

My Dark Brotherhood character perched a skull on the curtain wall of her Cheydinhal home after every finished contract as if they were the stripped trophy of my kill.ScubaRhyperior wrote:I break into NPC's homes and steal all their shoes.. then i place them around my house and hop around in celebration... Re: Silly/weird things you always do in Oblivion
After becoming the Mad God, I conjure a set of bound armor and then repair it. This allows me to discard it so that the set remains after the spell wears off. I then reverse pickpocket the armor into the inventory of the dancer you get as entertainment. When she performs it looks like I have a dancing Dremora Lord.
I do the same thing with the Adoring Fan and I have a mini-Dremora Lord to guard my shack in the IC. I may do this with all of the beggars. Dremora Lords R Us.

Re: Silly/weird things you always do in Oblivion
I didn't do the quest "Whom Gods Annoy" until after becoming Mad God, so I decided to punish Rosentia for not appreciating my "gift". Every time I'm in the imperial city, I pick up as much junk as I can handle, then trek over to her house and dump it all over her floor. If she thought the scamps caused a mess...

I steal things from every shop, house, castle, and any other building in Cyrodiil that I can. Everything that isn't nailed down, I grab and put in a single chest in my house in Bravil. I don't ever sell them though. Ever. I start out selling them, but after I become the Gray Fox, I just stop and collect them.
