Wel if she marries the Dovahkiin she will probably have more money then she did in her previous family.

True. I wish there was a quest to "liberate" Annekke from her marriage to Verner, who is not right for her.Khali wrote:The one every seems to over look is Annekke Crag-Jumper. Her husband, Verner Rock-Chucker, turned into a hum drum of a fellow obsessed with the mine and ignores his wife who just wants to explore and kill the odd bandit on the side. Sure you can marry her daughter, Sylgja, but she doesn't seem to have the gumption to get out and explore the world.
I may have to accidentally cause a cave in and get Verner out of the way so I can steal his wife away to a life of adventure.

I draw the line at breaking up marriages just cause. They seem happy to me.

Yeah, me too, but one of my characters doesn't see it the same way.Br3admax wrote:I draw the line at breaking up marriages just cause. They seem happy to me.
Besides, maybe Verner could hook up with Tormir. She complains about the lack of support from her kid's father. Verner seems like a stable person and a good provider. Everybody wins. Edit: That is my character's view of the situation.
Back on topic: Add Tormir to the list. Like Carlotta Valentia, another single mother with a young child that would rather go it alone.

Re: Skyrim is full of great women who can't be married
Sorry, just not seeing the attraction to any of the Dunmer females. I have yet to encounter one that I actually find attractive. They all look like prunes. Not much appeal to many of the Redguard women either. Hulda gets my vote, as well as several other notable barmaids and wenches.
Hell, the first time I walked into the inn in Dawnstar and witnessed the trio of Fruki, Irgnir and Karita I didn't want to leave town and was crushed to find that not a single one of them was available or eligible to be married. Are the designers insane or do they just enjoy taunting and toying with us?
*edit*
And let's not forget Narri. Has anyone mentioned her yet?

^ Hulda is definitely my favorite innkeeper in the game. Too bad she isn't eligible because at some point in the near future, I want to create a middle-aged male Nord character that would marry a middle-aged Nord woman. I hope he likes Aeri.

Hearthfire... I don't have that. But apparently, Annekke isn't committed to her marriage if she can be so easily swayed.Dohvakiin2012 wrote:She didn't even bat an eyelash when my assassin recruited her for the nanny position available at her swampy home.

I tried Annekke as steward, but I got so fed up hearing about the gorgeous tree all the time that I dismissed her (I found some console commands that worked).Snail's Pace wrote:Hearthfire... ^ Olfina Gray-Mane is terrible. I actually can stand the sight of a strong Nord woman, thanks. I've worked with many who are far stronger than level 4 food vendors with no magic or perks, like you.
Re: Skyrim is full of great women who can't be married
The point being that she's got more going for her than just good looks. She comes from good strong stock as a Gray-Mane, but I'll bite. So what is it that you look for then? They all perform the same basic functions. What else? Follower-status to adventure with? I'll admit that's actually one of my requirements, but that wasn't what this thread was about. It was about all the ineligible women so I named a few I think should have at least been eligible candidates (even though Olfina seems romantically involved with Jon Battle-Born).

Re: Skyrim is full of great women who can't be married
Beauty's in the eye of the beholder, of course. Looking at that picture of Jenassa you linked to, I see a sort of gaunt elegance in her bone structure which I can't help but admire, and a mystery in her dark red eyes that intrigues me. Your mileage obviously varies, which is fine.
Olfina, on the other hand, is certainly good looking, but she has no mystery to me, nothing to make me curious.
I guess what I ultimately look for in women (and you can extend that to real life, if you like) is just that touch of the exotic, that quirky personality trait, that odd bit of backstory that makes me curious to find out more about them. Take a vanilla spouse like Mjoll, for example. She's beautiful and a great follower, but what made me marry her was that break in her biography where she nearly died and Aerin saved her life, which somehow changed her from an adventurer who had always been adventuring for herself only to a citizen who feels responsible for the community that has taken her in. Without that, she'd be half as interesting to me.

Re: Skyrim is full of great women who can't be married
So after the mystery has been solved, and your curiosity has been sated or at least satisfied, then what? On to the next "mystery" to be figured out and solved? The next "puzzle", as it were? That makes for pretty fickle relationship material. It also requires something to be broken, fragmented, or at least missing a few pieces. At least that's my take. I look for strength of character, which Mjoll certainly possesses in equal parts, but honestly, I wish they'd have done so much more with the follower character development. Especially with NPCs like Mjoll and Uthgerd who had some tragic incident in their back story. They could have done so much more with that, but dropped the ball in favor of quantity over quality when it came to NPCs, followers and character development.

Totally agreed about that, which is why I absolutely adore the Interesting NPCs mod; some of those characters put the vanilla ones to crying shame in terms of complexity, unlocking new topics by continued interaction, sometimes depending on situation, locality etc., it's amazing. Re: Skyrim is full of great women who can't be married
^^Serana definitely matches your description of mystery there, Finn. And I will say that out of both gender sides, the females in the game at least have a bit more story than the dudes. And although hideous, this is one of the reasons why Vilkas is my favorite Skyrim husband. It seems like he and his brother were pretty much abandoned at Jorrvaskr as children and it hardened them.
I also dislike Olfina and Carlotta. So full of themselves. *blah*

I always felt like Uthgerd should have had a quest besides beating the snot out of her, like helping her make her peace with the guy she killed, or something. At least you can actually marry her.

Re: Skyrim is full of great women who can't be married
^^On sober reconsideration though, scrap all that mystery stuff; I mean, I could easily fall in love with a Serana type of woman, but not so easily live with her. An intelligent wife who has a matching sense of humour, is kind enough to put up with my imperfection and doesn't complain about the weather twice in three minutes is more than enough to make me happy IRL.
^Agreed about Uthgerd, and I can totally see that happen: *takes Uthgerd to Whiterun Hall of the Dead, raises dead Companions novice: "Hi, Uthgerd has come to apologize. Now why don't you two talk to each other while I go kill a few dragons?"* Seriously though, helping her make peace would have been nice.

Speaking of the Companions, has any one ever married Njada Stonearm? Not sure why any one would want to marry that vile woman in the first place. However, I was wondering if she still acted as vile after marrying her?
Ria should have been the other Companion marriage option. besides Aela. I always felt sorry for Ria, you can tell she just wants some one to like her and pay attention to her. She is always trying to impress every one. as if looking for a little bit of approval. Yet she gets stuck sharing a room with grumpy Njada and the drunken Torvar.

Yes, Ria is available.
Apparently Njada does warm up to you after marriage, in her own way (though it's not mentioned on the wiki now
). I always get the sense that there's more to her, like the Companions equivalent of Sapphire. Maybe some fanfic potential for her background.
