Yeah, they are a bit boring but they're the towns I like the most. Also Markarth, i think it's the best city in Skyrim. Best looking, anyway.

Re: Which settlement do you spend the most time in?
Lately I've been a nomad running around a lot for quest purposes but when I take the time to settle down and relax I'm usually in one of two locations.
The first is Windhelm. I wouldn't say it's my favorite but it grew on me since I spent a lot of time there after joining the Stormcloak Rebellion. It's fairly big and has a lot of merchants which makes it easier for me to sell all of the armor and weapons I craft. I could be wrong but I don't think any other city has as many merchants as Windhelm.
If I'm not in the Stormcloak capital hanging out with my Nord buddies I'm in Markarth which is by far my favorite hold capital in Skyrim. I love how the place is shrouded in mystery and dark arts. The people are sketchy and there is a huge class divide. My vampire warrior feels right at home in a place like that. The surrounding landscape is also nice.

Up until recently I frequented Riverwood the most, as I didnt have a house and therefore stored a lot of stuff in Delphine's chests at the Inn and also I had Faendal as a follower quite often.
Now mainly Whiterun as I have Breezehome, so store stuff there and also it is centrally located.
Other than that just places to buy more healing potions between quests.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, I never seem to go to Windhelm, Markarth or Morthal. Probably as there are no factions based there and they are more border located.

I just go to Whiterun. And ever since i stopped picking up stuff to sell, it's really become one of the only cities i visit simply because i store all the crap i like to collect in Breezehome.

Up until recently, Whiterun because the forge was so close to Breezehome.
Since Hearthfire though, I never really seem to go to cities unless it's for a quest or to dump some unused items. I do seem to be spending a lot of time in Rorikstead recently.

Whiterun, it's the center of commerce of Skyrim.

Yea I echo your sentiments. It seems like I never go to about half of the cities with my main character, especially Morthal, Dawnstar, and Riften.Aarah wrote:On the opposite side of the spectrum, I never seem to go to Windhelm, Markarth or Morthal. Not to get too off topic but two funny stories from my first play through of the game:
First, I never visited Solitude (this was on purpose) until
Spoiler:
The second was more unplanned. I got so caught up in the early game affairs that keep you in the center of the continent that I never visited Riften, Winterhold, Dawnstar, or Morthal until about 50 hours into the game.

that's when you complete the thieve's guild. It's only got one additional vendor (the guild fence)?K Candyman wrote:Riften has al lot of merchants too espescially when you join the TG maybe more than Windhelm.
Sure when you've re-established the guild across skyrim it's a better market than what's available topside by a mile.
