I wish that I could have a Carlton mustache. My life would be complete then.

Re: The General Discussion Thread
Quick question, guys. I played the original Diablo on PC a while back and it was great, right? I loved it. I heard a second one came out around 2000. Neato. However, at my local Wal Mart, I just saw a new $20 Diablo 2 Battlechest set thingy. If Diablo 2 is so old, are they really selling new copies of it, still? Or this is some relic that made it's way into the store? There was only one there...

There are still hard copies of old games out there that never sold, they're just not making them any more.

Ebay is your best bet, Link but i'm not sure if 2000 was the start of the one use codes DRM that every PC game uses nowadays. Apart from the odd one. Or try some indie shops.

Oh, thanks to you both for the info. I think I may cave and get the Diablo II Battlechest though, even though I've never played the second one. It's so inexpensive and good looking.

The D2 battlechest is legit, and a great deal. Buy it.
EDIT: Yes, Blizzard are still selling them new.

I have one. It's a good deal. I had some problems with key issues, but I ended up just using the key to add the game to my Blizzard Account, then downloading D2 from there.Taters wrote:The D2 battlechest is legit, and a great deal. Buy it.

Speaking of blizzards, the snows have come. There's at least an inch of snow on the ground right now.

^ Yuck. No snow here yet, it's just cold enough to wear a sweater.
In my Natural Resources class just now, a guy managed to catch a wasp by the wings and calmly carried it outside without getting stung. Everyone was highly impressed by this and he got a round of applause upon returning to the room.

Ah, Blizzard. I've only played one of your games, the original Diablo, but I loved the crap out of it. I wonder how good your other games are? I should try Diablo II, World of Warcraft, and Diablo III. Just to see if I've been missing out.

Alarra, when does it start snowing there? For the record, the rest of Anchorage isn't receiving snow, just the valley where I live. I also live up a mountain inside Chugach State Park so the weather here is brutal at best during the winter.

Re: The General Discussion Thread
Usually light snowfalls, no more than an inch or so, in late October, and then it actually sticks around starting in early-to-mid-November. I'm just not a fan of cold and snow in general, especially after rolling the car a couple years ago.Dohvakiin2012 wrote:Alarra, when does it start snowing there? I totes have great winter gear as I love being outside when it snows. I prefer it over the summer, since there are no bears to worry about.
Alarra, wow that sounds terrible! Winter driving is pretty darn annoying with the ice under fresh snow. People up here drive like maniacs in the winter, too.

Re: The General Discussion Thread
Both of you would laugh at our ability to cope in the snow if you ever visit england during the winter and a bit of snow has fallen. I'm not joking, a few inches of the stuff is enough to shut down our public transport and there is always a shortage of grit. Or at least seems to be one.

2 inches of snow was enough to get my cousin in Vegas a snow day one time. Meanwhile in Utah 3 feet isn't enough.

Re: The General Discussion Thread
Yeah, it wasn't fun. I was going around a sharp curve, and it was windy so some snow had drifted several inches deep across the road, though I didn't see it until the last second because the road was white with weeks of salt. I hit that and lost control, flipped onto the roof because the ditch was low, and hit a tree. I was lucky, though - it was positioned perfectly in a gap between two rows of trees, if I hadn't hit the tree at all the car might have kept skidding like a sled to the little house that was really close to the road, and I'd spun so that it hit the trunk. The car was totaled, but I made it out essentially uninjured - just minor scratches and some whiplash that eventually went away.Dohvakiin2012 wrote: Alarra, wow that sounds terrible! For the most part people are decent drivers. They go a little fast during the first snowfall, but then slide a little and remember what winter driving's like. Wisconsin drivers are pretty good in general; everyone here knows that Minnesota and Illinois drivers are the ones that drive crazy.

Re: The General Discussion Thread
Holy cow, Alarra. That's [&@%!] up! I'm glad you're all right damn. Up here, they don't salt the roads because the Moose come and lick them, thus causing more problems. They occasionally gravel them. It also has to be several feet of snow before anything shuts down. Getting snowed in and calling in to work happens for my husband and I at least 1-2 each winter. We had a severe snowfall in late April that isolated us here at home for 3 days. That's pretty average.
