Re: Impressions Poll
Why would it be mandatory? Also that leveling system was pointless in it's execution and useless in an MMO setting.

That. No reason for TES:O to lose something that's been a series feature since 1994.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:Yeah. Well. It's the Elder Scrolls, man.Abel wrote:While the game looked great, once the combat started I was a bit disappointed.

Re: Impressions Poll
Honestly, the new one isn't fair. Why do Altmer run faster than Bosmer? Height ruins speed fairness. This will be a major problem in PVP if you ask me, but since the Bosmer and Altmer are in the same faction, it won't matter much.Br3admax wrote:Why would it be mandatory? Personally speed was a good thing to have, because those who don't run would run slower, and those who like to run would run faster. Same with acrobatics. Adds realism in my opinion.

PvP would likely be mandatory in Cyrodiil, if anywhere at all.Br3admax wrote:Why would it be mandatory?
Only place I could see it.
also what was that about height determining run speed? Thought that was just in skyrim.
edit:
I have high hopes on combat... I can't get a sense of it from a vid, but as long as it isn't a real you're stuck in 'combat' until you or your target are defeated or you run some variable distance away from your foe I might enjoy it.
Has there been any real detailed info on the "rogue" class? Nightblade/duskblade or whatever? Or the guild trees for thieve's guild/darkbrotherhood?

Re: Impressions Poll
Well, I am almost certain it will be the same in TESO. Why? Because they removed the speed mechanic. High elves really just have their size set higher, meaning that they can move faster, and jump higher. With the speed mechanic, you can make a very slow high elf, and a very fast wood elf.
Re: Impressions Poll
Different game different mechanics.
Also height will likely be a customizable feature along side eye/hair color, face shape and body type in the character creation. Games like Rift, ToR, and GW2 all allow for custom height options and I assume other new mmo's do the same.
edit:
if anything I imagine that everyone will have the same movement speed, except when under the effects of certain effects (like being mounted or maybe some temporary skill boost).

Re: Impressions Poll
That's not quite the same thing, you mean skill set not leveling system, which is leveling up not the skills affected by it. I agree on this. However, height does factor in running speed, so I do like that it is taken into account in Skyrim.Jeelius-Tei wrote:Honestly, the new one isn't fair. Why do Altmer run faster than Bosmer? Re: Impressions Poll
I had to go back and look at what's changed regarding leveling between the elder scroll games.
Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim are all the same in that you're training skills to advance your character's total level. The main thing that changed was how skills got classified as major/minor/misc. and various attributes you'd have and how those would be altered.
There aren't any other major changes in the games that I've noticed and you've never been really prevented from maxing all the skills if you really put time into training
