I only made it through a handful of Four's missions. Probably won't get this.

Re: GTA 5
I have watched this vid quite a few times now. I am definitely stinging for this one.
The size of the gaming area seems freaking ridiculous!
I LOVE the GTA series, right back from the PC version in the early days, looking down from above. I remember when they shifted to console and I was STILL expecting it to be played from a birds eye view. I was [&@%!] off instantly when I fired it up, and then literally in seconds of walking down the street and shoulder bumping into someone as they blurted some random out burst that made me start punching on with them... I did a complete 180.
Whether you like or don't like the stories, or the missions.. I think the open world mayhem and carnage more than makes up for any other short comings. These kinda games are ALWAYS dynamite time fillers that KEEP you coming back to play, time and time again.
As far as hours wasted (if you can call em wasted hours... my friends and family might) I would have already lost a life time to the GTA franchise.
BUT.. buckle up again... or don't... cause I am going to rape GTA5 till she can't take no more!!

I know that thread is dead, but it should probably be merged as it has a decent amount of posts.
But the game itself looks amazing. I pre ordered a long time ago, and still can't wait. It has been just as bad of a wait that Skyrim was. Let's hope it lives to it's expectations. And if it doesn't, I will still play the [&@%!] out of it.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I loved the more serious direction to be completely honest. Felt so much more immersive. Recent years a lot of goofy open world sandbox games have arrived (Just Cause and Saints Row spring to mind) and I think it's a good thing GTA has found itself a direction that allows them to stand out from the pack. It might not appeal to everyone, but a metascore of 98/100 doesn't lie and I enjoyed GTA IV just as much as the previous entries, and probably just as much as the following entries.

Yeah, stick with the serious. Serious tones almost always produce better stories.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I say get rid of the ''serious'' tones. everyone in GTA IV felt over dramatic and miserable. I missed the good old fashioned light-hearted characters of previous GTAs. all those characters we had gotten to know over the years. in the older games they had the perfect balance of serious and silly, I say they bring that back.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Overly dramatic? Badman, Little Jacob, Brucie, Roman, Kiki, Bernie, Playboy X, Gracie,... ? Those were all pretty damn silly and light-hearted characters.

Brucie WAS the [&@%!]!! Hahaha.. loved that guy. Was always awesome doing his missions. Even just meeting up with him to hang out was great.

First GTA since liberty city stories for me.
primarily because i saw how brilliant the multiplayer looked in 4, and what they promised for 5.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
There will be 500 missions for GTA:Online. GTA 5's multiplayer. I hope that they are not generic as that will be very impressive. Wonder if they will create more missions every few months untill they start work on some DLC or another game?
I'm very surprised that it will be launching on the 17th for us in the UK as usually, games get released over here on a friday. The 17th is next wednesday and i'm going to wait untill october to get it as i can't afford it untill then. And to see what others think of it. Oh and i've seen a screenshot of the leaked map with GTAIV's map placed on top of it. It makes Liberty City seem tiny!

Is it telling that conversation in the Bioshock Infinite thread went over details and intricacies of the game while this thread has been reduced to people saying, "Fun game!" "I agree!" "What they said!"

Also, this is probably the last look I'll ever take at this thread. I don't want to spoil the game on myself, but i also don't see myself playing it for a very long time.

That said, here's a copy/paste of what I wrote after playing for just 4 hours the other night:
I played for a while last night and I have to say, 14.3/10. This game rocks. I immediately gave myself a haircut getting an afro and huge beard, managed to get into the airport and steal a jet. Then I proceeded to play aerial chicken with Los Santos traffic, before skydiving (without a parachute) into the ocean where I fought a shark. I was then eaten by that shark. I robbed an armored car and with that money went to the strip club, where the women are actually topless, and then played a game of tennis. I lost. So then I got a blimp and landed on top of the tallest building before again jumping without a parachute. Before calling it a night, I looked through my phone and realized you can actually buy vehicles this time and invested some money on the stock market. I knew I had to be somewhat more epic than ending with financial investment, so I found Grove Street and was shot down by the Ballas. Buncha [&@%!] bustas.
