I usually start with a beginning, end and a bunch of scenes that'll populate the middle. Then I attempt to bridge them together. I usually prefer designing the world and characters than actually writing about them, though. I could spend months designing a ridiculously over-complicated world and never write for it.

And I think Alarra is talking about the RP subforum, Dovahkiin.
