Re: A question about Factions and PVP
He probably means that there'll be a large game-space that's just a free reign PVP area. Think the Wilderness in Runescape, Low Security - Null Security space in EVE: Online, or a PVP World of Warcraft server where everywhere is a killing zone.Yaije wrote:explain. Re: A question about Factions and PVP
The first two options in that list work because they are great sources of income. The last is an empty sandbox where nothing is for sure due to players going after their quick fixes.
And also, as ESO has said that we won't be losing our equipment on death, pvp regions aren't going to be as lucrative as low/null sec New Eden or the wilderness of Runescape
Cyrodiil would have to be much more than just a place to duke it out with players for it to really be worthwhile.

Re: A question about Factions and PVP
I was reading the Elder Scrolls Online news, when I stumbled upon this:
Seeing that there is an emote called "Surrender" makes me believe there is some way to communicate with other players in the war zone. Hopefully people will listen to the emote...Elder Scrolls Online News wrote:"The following is a list of the emotes currently represented in the game; your idea cannot be for one of these actions: /surrender"
Re: A question about Factions and PVP
I'd sooner hope for Khajiit walking around in Stros M'kai like it's nothing special. It seems more likely.

Hehe you wish. Speaking as a PvPer, someone can spam /surrender all day in front of me, it will just make me laugh.Jeelius-Tei wrote:I was reading the Elder Scrolls Online news, when I stumbled upon this:Seeing that there is an emote called "Surrender" makes me believe there is some way to communicate with other players in the war zone. And this quote is how most players online will view emote usage. It has no real power over whoever reads it with very few exceptions. Sort of like people on certain runescape worlds trying to get rid of players for breaking 'unofficial' rules in various in game activities.

Seeing that the majority of people will ignore emotes, I suppose I can just stick to running like the Oblivion M'aiq, that is if there is even a speed skill. Even if there isn't, I can still run faster than brutes in armor.

Re: A question about Factions and PVP
I think if people wanna RP in Cyrodiil they are certainly welcome to. I know that if RPers in my guild want to Rp in Cyrodiil for any reason I will try and gather a few people to patrol the area and make sure they are not interrupted, I am not a very good RPer myself but I respect it and I play table top D&D and vampire. Now, if I meet a group of enemy players RPing, I won't give 2 thoughts about attacking them. I won't even be able to see their chats or communicate with them anyway, they are just at the wrong place at the wrong time to RP and I don't give a rats ass if I'll ruin their RP, it will actually be cooler if I do it, because then they are more likely to get mad, call friends, and an epic battle will start! So if I have the people to back me up on a fair fight (I wouldn't charge against 5 people by myself, that's stupid) I will attack and I expect the same from others.

Note that if you work hard on stealth, invisibility, muffle, and the like, you ought to be able to avoid a lot of those nasty humanoids and get on with your life. Hey, maybe you could show up at battles and sell pitchforks and torches. I am new to the wide world of MMOs - been "saving myself" for TESO. Gosh, I hope she will be worth it.Jeelius-Tei wrote:Seeing that the majority of people will ignore emotes, I suppose I can just stick to running like the Oblivion M'aiq, that is if there is even a speed skill. Love your profile pic, BTW.

Re: A question about Factions and PVP
I am also new to MMOs, unless you can include Spiral Knights an MMO... Selling weapons to the factions sounds like a great idea for making money, and better still, if weapons get damaged, I could repair them. I could also sell potions to them.NyarlathotepJr wrote:I am new to the wide world of MMOs - been "saving myself" for TESO..
Thanks about my avatar, people seem to like this avatar, I guess I should keep it forever.
Re: A question about Factions and PVP
I will point out that in the modern MMO's of late, building equipment hasn't been all that profitable unless the game also had it where you often lost equipment easily. And repairing equipment has been left out of the reach of players and is basically turned into a gold sink.
Now I don't know if that will be the case in ESO. But since they've already said we'll likely be keeping our loot on death, I'm assuming it will play out like WoW, swtor, and other games like them where only the best or highest tier of equipment really is valued and only purchased once.

Re: A question about Factions and PVP
I agree with that. There are lot of people who seem to have rather unrealistic (to me) expectations of this game, i cant help but feel a lot of people will be very disappointed. Its an MMO with Elder Scrolls lore, not an Elder Scrolls game thats online.Yaije wrote:I will point out that in the modern MMO's of late, building equipment hasn't been all that profitable unless the game also had it where you often lost equipment easily. Hey, I fully get RvR is not everyone cup of tea. That said I urge people to try it. I always wanted to play RPG and *NOT* deal with uber jerks... but then i tried it. It was exciting (to me at least) running around with a warband and KNOWING there was no script. there might be no one over the next hill... there might be 100.odinlima wrote:, well I think I will have to pass this one...
I have hard core raided with server firsts; I have RPG Balder's Gate/Neverwinter; and I have played Civ/TotalWar... but the thrill of RvR both in action, uncertainty, real time planning is hard to replicate for at least me and I urge anyone considering ESO to at leat try it.
