Greatest Game Series of the Decade

Post by kailay »

TES vs. GTA
http://www.gamespot.com/greatest-game-s ... ttle_id=63

Which do you think should win? I personally love both series and I'm extremely excited for GTAV but TES will always be my favorite series. Morrowind was my first proper game and got me into gaming.
And I also hated GTAIV

I think this belongs in Multimedia.

As for series of the decade. It's far too early for that. But would go for TES.

Well they must mean the previous decade, despite including Skyrim. Sorry, kids, but I'd have to say GTA. GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, GTA IV. GTA wins on sheer content amount, IMO.

Well, from last decade. Metal Gear Solid. It stands out the most and MGS3 is one of my favourite games. That and it opened my eyes to stories in games. I was a lot younger back then and less mature as a gamer. It is the best game of the series. It knows when to stop and when to start, what works and is just the right length. Unlike MGS4 with it 90 minute ending and very cutscene heavy. MGS2, yeah i don't know what to say except, it's clear that Kojima was experimenting with the direction he wanted to go in. And of course, the original Metal Gear Solid which is a classic.

GTA is good but GTAIV did leave a sour taste in my mouth. It pretty much went downhill after GTASA. It stopped being fun and crazy to boring and annoying.

Dragon Age Origins. I'm not counting DA2 as well, it's a disgrace and almost killed the franchise for me.

I agree with Bread. GTAIV is the worst GTA game as it commits a horrible sin in gaming. It's boring and repitive.

It does and i don't really need to say what most GTA players do to them. Still doesn't make up for the fact it is boring and lacks variety as well as a lack of things to do.

Neither. MGS was the best and GTA is a close runner up. I wasn't too gone on GTA IV either.

NBA Live in the early 2000's.
NBA 2K series in the late 2000's.
Madden was good early.
Oblivion in 2006.
MGS2 Sons of Liberty lasted for over 4 years for me, so that says something. I could still play that game today actaully.
GTA was there all decade, altho ps2 GTA's outweigh GTA IV by far.
Gran Turismo holds a dear place in my heart for all of the 2000's.

Yup, Gran Turismo Series...Now That's a game that truly gets better every single release.

Gta will win just because of the larger fanbase.

No it won't. They are deliberately voting a certain way to keep it at exactly fifty-fifty.

It's usually a case of what has the bigger fanbase with these polls. A few years ago, COD won many awards in the awards that allowed people to vote for the game they want to win. I think it was something like best story, best soundtrack and so forth. I disagree as there are a lot of games with far better stories then 'Merica [&@%!] yeah. However, I will stress that i've not played COD since MW1 and that is just the impression the trailers have left on me. And the reputation. But it willl be interesting to see if TES will win or not.

I'm inclined to go with GTA. I'm a big fan of the middle games (GTA III era). the only TES game I am a really big fan of is Oblivion, and not the entire series.

However, I'm not sure I like the HD era of GTA, so that puts me off a little bit.
basically, I can't really vote on which one is the better game series (whether for the previous decade or not) because I only like specific entrees in each of the two series.

ES is in the lead by an 8% margin. If GTA 5 was out now, it would definitely win. It's a timing issue for GTA, here. The last major installment came out in 2008, with expansions up until 2010. ES had a major title in 2011, with Dragonborn keeping public interest going on into this year.

I'm playing GTAIV right now. It's not the best game in the world, AKB. V will probably be better though.

I personally think GTAIV was a terrible game. I liked the story, the characters, and the setting, but the game play mechanics were just bad.

Interesting fact: GTA has shipped about ten games for every ES game sold (according to the sources I could find, which are undoubtedly unreliable).

No matter what the results are, I'm just happy we crushed Fallout.

For me gta was something I played for about a week then it got boring, same thing over and over.. Don't get me wrong I like the game for a sandbox and jes twirl around an wala, guns and rampage.. TES is a game where you can rampage but you can also be what ever you want to be.. In gta you are who you are.. You want to hunt animals, raise a family, enforce laws, track down criminals, become a theif, assassin, soldier, bandit, witch, vampire, wolf, or jes explore it all.. Hands down TES is better over all... Gta V will be fun but can you say far cry, just cause, saints row, mercs, and the list goes on.. Nothing is like TES III, IV, and V.. That's my opinion...
