Favorite Skyrim music
I haven't seen any posts on this subject so I guess nobody would mind if I started it. What is your favorite music from Skyrim? My favorite (don't know the name of it) is the music that plays in Septimus Signus's outpost durong Decerning the Transmundane.

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
The only Skyrim music that really stands out to me is the main theme. (and thus, the dragon fighting theme)
There is one exploration one I like (the one with chanting people, but I don't know what it's called) but the rest of them felt like they were either ''adequate'' or below average. Really nothing great among the rest of the themes.
Skyrim's city music annoys me, though. I really don't like it.

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
Karita (Dawnstar bard) has a rendition of "Ragnar the Red" that can't be beat. She has her mother's voice, you know.
Seriously, though, I like the soundtrack. This may seem a little weird, but I assume that the music is an actual part of the world and that my characters and the NPC's can hear it.
I guess I like the more peaceful sections the most because that means everything is all right.

The song that plays when you first enter Riverwood, it really sets the mood and tone for the rest of the game.

I only like the tavern music if the singing is good. Lisbet in The Winling Skeever sounds like a Cliff Racer being axe murdered.philfredobob wrote:Ah, wait I remembered another couple I like, the Tavern music is all good.

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
That's not what i mean by Tavern music.
i mean the musical themes that play when the bards shut up, not the songs or anything the bards play.
like this, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8tGnQlpMgw

I think it was something like "a road most travelled" from the morrowind soundtrack, it featured in dragonborn also, loved it in both games, really sets the scene in raven rock

I love Skyrim Atmospheres. I play it in my Yoga classes all the time. I think all TES soundtracks are really good, but Atmospheres is my favorite piece. Also 'Imperial Throne'.

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
I have so many favorites. 440-ish hours in-game, many, many more hours listening to it on my ipod, and I still am not bored. You know you're composing music right when that's possible.
Here's all my "top" favorites from the soundtrack:
Ancient Stones
The Streets of Whiterun
Around the Fire (my favorite tavern theme)
Far Horizons (played the first time I ever climbed up High Hrothgar.... it was awesome)
Wind Guide You (very majestic piece. Reminds me mostly of climbing mountains in The Rift.)
The City Gates
And then Skyrim Atmospheres is amazing to fall asleep to.
I love Jeremy Soule's comments on Facebook about his thought processes behind some of the songs.

Skyrim Atmospheres
This disc was carefully constructed and took months to complete. In this recording, I'm working with various psychological and acoustical theory that utilize precision tunings to create a very special "atmosphere"... There are even mathematics in this music that reflect planetary and celestial physics. The journey of this music takes the walker to the lower lands, from where the journey will eventually ascend to the ceiling of the world. When you hear the winds at the end, you are in excess of 14,000 feet, and you are hearing this atmospheric pressure and common temperature.
Wind Guide You
I still remember the moment I first heard this music in my consciousness. It was fragile, so I became to be in a hurry to write it down. Sometimes ideas for me are very ethereal. In these moments, I have to stop communicating with the world and concentrate. Anyone that's been with me might say I was daydreaming. But, the music is loud when it is present. I can't ignore it. Yet I know that once when I hear it, it may never return. So careful transcription in these moments is critical. That's the life of a composer... it is about listening to what is inside.

Ragnar the bloody red.
I really thought the actually OST was underwhelming and was practically nonexistent.

Ancient Stones
(Morrowind's and Solthstheim's theme); the road most travelled
Bannered Mare and Plenty others, it's really hard to pick. :/
I also like the Dragon fight one that goes "Xbox live, goes in here, XBOX LIVE!, harrghh!~~"...
They are saying Xbox live, I can't unhear that -_-
Oh, I forgot Sovngarde's theme!

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
I like most of the music in Skyrim, and it's hard to pick a favorite. But especially after installation of Dawnguard I have mostly spent the nights outdoors, and the Night Themes are beautiful, and in particular no 2.
I also like the music from forgotten Vale, moving through the valley.

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
The main theme. It sums up the Dovahkiin's journey from mere mortal to a demigod capable of taking on a Daedric Prince(A weakened one but still). Although why the hell it never played during the main quest, I do not know as it would have been perfect for the final Alduin fight.

Thanks for the reply. I read the FAQ without finding an answer, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

The Road Most Travelled from Dragonborn and Morrowind. I spend hours wandering Solstheim just to catch this piece of music. This is a good topic because I love the music in Skyrim. Another good one is when you enter Blackreach.

I'm a fan of Skyrim's soundtrack. For me, the best tracks are Dragonborn, From Past to Present, Secunda, The Streets of Whiterun and Far Horizons.

Oh, yeah, I also really like two original, non-Morrowind ones that were added in Dragonborn. They're both gorgeous.

Re: Favorite Skyrim music
I haven't played Dragonborn yet even though I've had it for a while so I don't know if it has notable songs, but out of the vanilla game and Dawngaurd, the Sovngarde theme is by far the best song in the game. Period.
