I HIGHLY recommend you seek it out, as this is, as far as I can tell, the only location in Skyrim where you can find an NPC laying down in the water, as well as a few sitting on a ledge that is underwater. I just love how it's set up so realistically, NPCs bathing in the hot springs, their boots and shoes put out to dry near the campfire, it's beautiful.

I don't mind windhelm in cold winter actually. it looks very authentic. Old streets filled with snow. Dragonborn walking against the howling blizzard. There is spot there. a garden space near that house of horrors something. Its someones front yard. That ones pretty good

Re: Your favourite spot in skyrim?
Of settlements, Riverwood and Ivarstead. They are both in beautiful spots. I especially like Ivarstead, since the rapids and the birch forest near it are so beautiful. When it's sunny, it feels rather like an especially warm day of late September or early October (one of my favourite times of year IRL). Besides, both villages house some my favourite NPCs. It's always like coming home when I arrive at either place.
Of natural spots, the best is the Lover Stone. There's the awesome waterfall and the sights over the Reach are astounding. Besides, the place has memories for me. With my first character I arrived there after a hard journey to rendezvous Esbern and Delphine at the Karthspire. When I realized there was no convenient way down and I should make yet another long detour, I thought "F*** this" and just rode down the rapids. And when I finally emerged from the water, I was instantly in the center of huge fight (the Blades vs the Forsworn vs a dragon). An epic moment, to be sure.
Another nice place is a bit northwest from the Abandoned Shack. I traveled there in the night, damning the endless bog to Oblivion. Then the dawn came and when I looked up, I saw the huge stone arc of Solitude rising above the Marsh mists. It was the first time, actually, that I saw Solitude. It is sure a grand sight.
Of course, there are many more, but these are the most impressive I remember now. I have to say that in this regard Bethesda took a huge step forward from Oblivion, which had rather bland landscapes by comparison.

The Cyrodiil-Skyrim borderland. So much NPCs, so much leveling oppurtunities. And Helgen, which is the place I use to hone my skills. If it wasn't for my followers, I'd go through there with my main profile without nobody ever knowing I was there.

Silver-Blood inn, New Gnisis Cornerclub, The Dark brotherhood's but my most favourite is The Reching Netch
Dislike: Falkreath, for the guards killing my character (permanent death). When all I did was eliminate the Vampire for the DBH.

surprised noones mentioned blackreach yet, that place is eerily beautiful and one of the most awe inspiring locations in a videogame.

^Really? I've only gotten that far with two characters, but both times I was strong enough that with a bit of care they weren't a problem at all. And it looks spectacular and very original, it's like the combination of best part of Skyrim dungeons and Morrowind-level weirdness.

Re: Your favourite spot in skyrim?
It's actually quite hilarious. My last PC that was there was pretty much wandering around with Lydia, going, "Oooo, look at this! And that! And there! And - what is that, an arrow in my foot? Where did that - ow! Hey!" I love the Blackreach because it reminds you that even beautiful things can be deadly...particularly when you're not expecting the deadly part.deathm00n wrote:Then you find the centurions and the falmers and you are like "f*** this, I'm out."Raynil dralas wrote:surprised noones mentioned blackreach yet, that place is eerily beautiful and one of the most awe inspiring locations in a videogame.
My favorite town is definitely Riverwood. I find it really hard not to get attached to that place, and it's actually pretty scenic and beautiful, everything considered. But in terms of holds and player houses, my favorite is the Lakeview Manor from the Hearthfire DLC and Falkreath Hold in general. It's beautiful, woodsy, pretty empty...just a beautiful place, and with the lake crowing the landscape? Gorgeous. A lot of the places in Skyrim are really breathtaking, but after a long day of adventuring, it's good to hit up some nature.
Huzzah!

My favorite spot in Skyrim before I got Dawnguard was the ampetheter in Solitude where the Burning of King Olaf festival is held. I love the magnificient view of Northern Skyrim from there. My new favorite spot is the ruined parts of Castle Volkihar. The part of the castle that you explore in Chasing Ehcos. I know that's not really a "spot", but they are still cool hallways and passaheways.

I loooooove the Soul Cairn. it brought back all those fuzzy memories of Oblivion and Fallout 3 combined, and was loads of fun to explore along with being really, really nice. (y'know, in a desolate wasteland kind of way)

Re: Your favourite spot in skyrim?
Jeez I'm not sure I could decide ; n;/
I love following the rivers of Skyrim though, and how jumping in and riding the rapids can get you from Ivarstead to Whiterun to beyond no problem. The northern mountains are beautiful too.
I think my favorite things are what you pass on the main roads. By now, I could go from Markarth to Whiterun to Windhelm to Riften and back with my eyes closed. The mountains of The Reach are gorgeous, even if dangerous, and the plains, rivers, and tundra of The Pale can give perfect view of the sunrises and sunsets while the birch forests of The Rift make me feel nostalgic for fall, even.

The Rift. All of it. Perpetual Autumn.
There's a spot near Lost Prospect Mine with some little ponds that I especially like.
Lots of great spots all over Skyrim, but that one may be my favorite.

Can't really pick a favourite, but a lovely spot that hasn't been mentioned yet is that little pond with a waterfall just outside Lost Knife Hideout. I first discovered it with my Bosmer assassin after clearing Fort Amol and it was perfect for a refreshing shower after that exhausting battle... then she saw the cave entrance and realized that her day was far from done yet.
The Reach has a lot of spectacular views, especially in the area around Hag Rock Redoubt and Dushnik Yal. The whole east side of the Throat of the World from Valtheim Towers up to Ivarstead is awesome. Then there's Falkreath hold with Lake Ilinalta, and the western slopes of the Velothis between Windhelm and Riften... I generally love fir forests because they remind me of the region where I grew up.

Re: Your favourite spot in skyrim?
Nilheim is a place I try to get to early, and I fight the bandits by the bridge so I just can throw them into the river from there. The last goes with Fus Do, and then the place is mine. Beautiful views wherever I look. I have tried to find a mod that uses this place as player home, but I haven't found anything so far.
A lake in Skyrim is named after me.

Re: Your favourite spot in skyrim?
The balcony off the back of Calcelmo's Tower, in Markarth. Affords a nice view of one of the most awe-inspiring fortress towns in Skyrim, including a prime angle looking in on the Temple of Dibella. Hop atop the brazier for a slightly better view, since an invisible wall prevents standing on the railing.
The area is normally accessed as part of a major guild questline, but I did independently confirm that a jumping path across a landbridge near the Temple is possible. It takes a few clever corner jumps to achieve (which I find switching to third-person camera sometimes helps with). Also Altmer have 8% greater jump height due to a game setting, which may make mounting perches like this a bit easier (as well as granting a new possible meaning to the term "High" Elf).

Mmm.. I have found myself grouped with others on the fathom for both Black Reach and the Chapel and valley beneath it at the Forgotten Grotto.
I for one however have found myself widely attached to underground Grottos or forests. Not at all like you see at Eldergleam Sanctuary, but the more elusive. Most I have a hard time remembering.. but some make small locations in ruins or caves >_> I cannot remember my favorite, but it was the final chamber with a large forest down below and in the center plenty of water, it was the boss room and I think it had a word wall>_> Baka>_<
I do find the twilight of dusk by the Lover stone quite nice if I do say

The small ruin just outside of Ysgramor's Tomb, with a few Skeevers and maybe some bandits, with a camp, in the frigid cold of the north, at sunset...
Yeeeah. That place is great.
