Post by Obliviguy34 »

I am a lvl 10 knight and i feel weak cause my friends are higher lvls. One of my friends told me to kill every1 in each town 2 lvl up. Is there another easy way to lvl up?

Join the Thieves and Dark Brotherhood. The Brotherhood - praise Sithis! - has been the catalyst to my newest character's jump to level 15, and the Thieves have provided me with ample Sneak and Security leveling. Of course having the Skeleton Key makes raising Security a whole lot easier. I'd recommend following the main story up until you become a Blade member, then go off and do your thing. If you follow the Thieves and Dark Brotherhood you will find a lot of opportunities to raise the stakes, especially with all the caverns you have to visit. Try the Counts too; they all have missions for you to complete. The Count of Leyawiin did me a huge favour when he sent me to Mazoga the Orc. I'd also highly recommend Bravil's mission, though you will want to stock up in supplies before pursuing it. ;) You might also want to try the Daedric shrines. Here's the list. Some of them have fantastic rewards; the better the blade in your hand the better you will find raising your level is. It also helps to break the law every now and then, resist arrest and take on the guards. They're really not as tough as they're made out to be. :P Also, seek out enchanted weapons. My shortsword of fire is a lot strongers than my Elven Longsword even though the latter is five places higher in terms of damage it can do (the bonus of fire and a good strength means it does double damage).

I actually haven't done anything for the Fighters, I've done one or two recommendations for the Mages though. Bravil is pretty good and gives you some nice experience. Most of the time I'm either acting as a Silencer in the Brotherhood or running around stealing things. With wealth comes new fences in the Thieves Guild, and with new fences comes more money options. The more money you can get the better. I've only been playing my new character for a few days and I'm at level 15. Thanks to my talent for finding trouble and venturing into places you really should avoid, and the opportunities the Brotherhood gives you, I've found leveling up not too difficult. You need to take risks though. I don't know how many times I've tried to take on creatures that are better suited for higher levels but it works, if you can pull it off. This is where Luck comes into it, which I have a poor amoun of.

I'd advise against slaughtering the towns at your level. You'll be overwhelmed by guards. Even I can't take on more than two guards at any one time and my weapons are superb. But I did say take a risk. ;) You might also screw up your chances of actually getting anywhere. Weak as the guards tend to be, an enemy of the Empire lasts only so long. I have a lot of infamy but even I don't cross them, unless I feel like training. If you're looking for fight, look on the map for some camps (Image list of campsites). Campsites always have bandits and rogues for you take on, usually more than one. They're great practice and outlaws so you shouldn't get any bounty. :D I recommend the southern campsites. That's where I tend to find Mithril armour. I find a lot of great stuff in Memorial Cave, which is part of the Order of the Virtuous Blood mission. You might as well take it up while you're at it. I find after level 11 you tend to start seeing Mithril and Elven armour in the place on the vampires and their leader. I go back regularly to get schtuff.

Anyway, hope my rambling somehow helps you in your quest to shine as a Knight. May Sithis show you the way through the Darkness.

Hmm, I just checked out the Knights' stats. No wonder you're not levelling up a great deal, your major skills are Blade, Block, Blunt, Hand to Hand, Heavy Armor, Illusion and Speechcraft. I would recommend fighting as often as possible to better your Blade, Block, Blunt and Heavy Armour. If you can get yourself Night Eye and enter caves so you have to use it often. That ups my Illusion neatly (though not by a great deal since it's used less than other skills). Speechcraft is a little harder. Just attempt to charm or annoy people when talking to them instead of using bribes. Also make sure when you do level up you do so as soon after you receive the message as possible. If you raise your skills after you're told to level up you essentially waste valuable points. Might want to consider a custom class in future though. That way you can pick the abilities you use most often. ^_^

One question (I decided to put it here since this has to do with leveling up)
Is it true that when you level up, your opponets gets stronger? I'm a level 6 now. Is there some point in the game where your opponets seem to get stronger?

To the topic: Just go around attacking everything that moves, pick fights with the Imperial Leigons. That's how i often leveled up, with various battles with town guards.

Yes. As you raise your level the enemies become subtley stronger. A skeleton at level one is margionally easier than when you're at level 10, however the biggest difference is that as you pass levels more enemy varients become available. For example a ghost is sort rare at the beginning, with skeletons being the most prominent of the undead (alongside zombies) but as you progress not only does their strength increase but eventually Wraiths are introduced. Same with others; new animals and monsters become more common as well as various rogue types. At the same time, like guy34 says, you also begin to gain access to stronger weapons and armour. The whole point is that you're rewarded by the game for being an ass kicker and whilst you receive goodies you also receive challenges to make sure you deserve what's coming. :D
