Where to go next?
So I've gotten myself pretty addicted to Mardathen (Bosmer assassin badass), to the point where he's pretty much the only character I play right now.
Anyways, I've maxed out my Archery, Sneak, and very soon I will be maxing out my One-Handed, and since I really want to get up to at least level 46 for my long-awaited Daedric Bow, I need to pick another skill to start investing in, given that I'm not about to make any of the previously mentioned skills Legendary, as they're sort of vital. I was think maybe Alchemy as it would fit with my character (and also because I have a stockpile of ingredients in Breezehome that I'm sure can be made into some pretty nice potions, should my Alchemy be high enough). I'm currently at level 68 in Smithing, but I really don't want to grind since I'm always roleplaying, so I've decided to let it come along naturally. Any thoughts?

Re: Where to go next?
Are you wearing any armour? Maybe working on one of the armour skills would be worth while?
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!
Re: Where to go next?
Do alchemy. My new assassin character character is level 27 and my main skills are archery, alchemy and sneak with a little in one handed and light armor. Just get 5 of 5 in alchemist, physician because you have to, then get poisoner to make your poisons more potent, Concentrated poison so your poisons will last for twice as many hits. Green humbs okay but if you have hearthfire do what I do and just plant the certain plants you need and you can literally farm them.

Maybe you could use muffle in conjuction with your sneak training? It wouldn't be breaking your roleplay too much to add a little magical advantage to your day job? It would add a few illusion levels to help you out toward that bow.

Alchemy would help, especially if you play on higher difficulties. I would recommend Illusion, it spell can be quite useful, and if you aren't leveling armor, use Light.

Generally speakingm even if you focus on only six skills, you should have no problem getting to level 46.

I'm wearing Nightingale Armor and my Light Armor skill is around 86. I forget to mention that.

Your Bosmer and my Bosmer would get along great, I use the exact same skills.
Are you dual wielding your one-handed weapons? If not, block never hurts.

While I would say alchemy and illusion would fit perfectly, it doesn't hurt to later invest into alteration. Compared to most brute players<_< lighter classes lack in said defense. Many of the spells like ironflesh help when faced with a foe if all else fails, while I can easily say detect life/death are helpful to sneaky players.
If Rping is at your core, illusion and alteration both revolve around manipulation, be it minds or reality. Reallyy for just story purpose, you could go along on a pilgrimage while honing those skills in a passive manner, before converting them into a valid tool. Tis my theory at least

Re: Where to go next?
alchemy, block / light armour / alteration would be my suggestions.
I have a similar character as well, he uses poisons quite a lot (in fact i use poison instead of magic in combat). The best defense might be your ability to sneak so imo armour and block are probably optional tho i like the block skill
I know you say you won't but if - if you do go legendary, 1 handed might be a good choice as it can get back up to useful levels pretty quickly (temporary use of warrior stone and well rested type bonuses) and your character sounds like who depends more on sneak attacks with bows when you're on your own

Re: Where to go next?
I used to, but after completing Dragonborn, I took out the perk from OH that makes dual wielding attacks twice as fast, so now I just use my Stahlrim dagger for sneak attacks.Mickey wrote:Your Bosmer and my Bosmer would get along great, I use the exact same skills.

I've been thinking about this, especially when I was just starting this character. I actually have 10 points (1 level up) into Magicka when I thought I was going to be more of an Illusion user.BetaB17 wrote:While I would say alchemy and illusion would fit perfectly, it doesn't hurt to later invest into alteration. All very good advice, I'll be thinking about this.Mattbott wrote:alchemy, block / light armour / alteration would be my suggestions.

Re: Where to go next?
I like to sometimes RP a Mining Baron. Visit every mine in the game and mine every type of ore I want to collect.
I mine iron, then transmute it all into silver, then mine all the silver I can find, then transmute all of that combined into gold, then finally mine all the gold I can find, then smelt absolutely everything into gold bars, then put them on display in my bookshelves.
That's just for fun - you could, however get your smithing up by mining, then smithing whatever you find. So mine orichalcum + iron + corundum, and smith orcish stuff. You get the idea.
If you do the Avanchenzel quest coupled with Well Rested and Warrior Stone, you can have a tremendous boost of 60% skill increase to smithing, so it doesn't seem like such a terrible grind. If you have Lover's Comfort instead of Well Rested, then it hits 65%...LUDICROUS SPEED!

Illusion magic. Never thought it would so fun to play with. Not mentioning muffle, invisibility and quiet spell casting. Plus what more fun then using Frenzy spell on poor souls so they can slaughter each other with u laughing hidden behind a rock

You don't need two weapon skills at max. Make one of them legendary, and then use the other if you find yourself near death.

I always and forever recommend smithing for every single character that wears armor and/or uses a non-stave weapon. You can practically double your base damage, and dragonbone weapons are better than daedric anyway.
