Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
There's also something to be said for replayability in terms of roleplaying. Some people like to approach questlines they've seen before from a different perspective.
Edit: Whoops, yeah, what dzio said. No fast travel is a huge contributor, as are hunting and finding places to rest if you either have mods that make that necessary or have the discipline to do it yourself without prompting.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Hi, I'm new around here. I've played Skyrim (my favorite game) for over 150 hours. Currently I'm playing with my third character, a Nord fighter which I've based on the archetype shown in the Prima Guide, currently at level 11.

It's definitely possible to finish almost everything in 200 hours. I'm on 198 or something and I've finished every single questline - no expansions though.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Steam says 704 hours. I'm not sure Steam keeps track if you have SKSE and have to launch the game with a desktop icon, I just have not paid any attention to find out for sure.
I have done all the main quests, vanilla and DLC, at least once. I always intend to try a different play style with each new character but end up going back to my duel wield sword and dagger while wearing light armor head on approach. Actually I take that back, I have not done the Civil War quest line as a Stormcloak.
Role play I have no problems going from the responsible good guy down to the utterly evil kill em all and sort it out later bad guy.
The thing I have been doing lately is doing the main quest in a different order than is most common. Give it a try, it does change a few things in other quest lines. Nothing story breaking or a major change but it does make a difference.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Though I don't like to admit it I saw my steam counter has gone over 1000 hours for Skyrim. I think I am kind of lucky in a sense because although I have finished most quests multiple times except for the bards college I just don't actually play any other games, I have not bought a new game since the release of Skyrim and still manage to enjoy myself when playing it.philfredobob wrote:I don't understand how people can play this game for over a thousand hours and not be done with everything.
honestly, i had already explored the whole map and did everything by the time i reached 200 or so hours, and by then was pretty bored of the game. it always amazes me how people can just keep playing them.
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
I've got 2038 hours on PC. It just means I have a lot of free time and plenty of different characters. Also: mods. Mods can freshen things up a bit. I find there's always something new to do with my mods; something new to test, something new to discover, something new to create. There's more than the vanilla game to keep me playing.
That being said, I played vanilla on PC for about 300 hours. Until my first character fell. Then I decided to try modding.
As for my PS3... I've got between 40-50 hours on it.
All in all, I'd say I have pretty close to 2080 hours in Skyrim. Still going.
I take breaks every once and a while and play different games, but that's it. I still play Skyrim frequently.
Edit:
If I boil this down, character by character, it comes in with Hunts-With-Fury having the most hours per reincarnations (first was the 300 hour character, second lasted around 112 hours before her save bloated). So around 400-something hours.
Vulom comes in second with around 360-80 hours and four separate versions (it would be nice if her saves would just stop going corrupt).
And From-Blackest-Reaches is in third... No idea how many hours I've played her through three rounds, but I'd estimate around the 300 hour mark.
The rest of my hours come from characters that come and go. Usually just start them, play for a few hours, then delete them.
I have had several characters last 100-200 hours each, though. I just can't remember them. I know I had a Nord last a few hundred, a Bosmer, and a Khajiit. Those are three I haven't restarted. Mostly because I didn't like them.
Right now, my main characters (and two side characters) are sitting at this:
Vara Rydilis: 21 hours, 9MB save.
Vulom Staadnau IV: 15 hours, 9MB save.
From-Blackest-Reaches III: 3 hours, 6MB save.
Bjorlan: 1 hour, 5MB save. Only created for mod testing.

You actually just reminded me to check, and Steam keeps track of it just fine with SKSE.Khali wrote:I'm not sure Steam keeps track if you have SKSE and have to launch the game with a desktop icon, I just have not paid any attention to find out for sure.
As a general rule of thumb, I find that if you can still use Steam's in-game overlay, then the rest of the features should work as well.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Yes, but have you cleared every cave? Done every side quest? There is over 300 hours of stuff to do in the game, not eve counting the infinite amount of radiant quests, I know you can speed run if you skip all the dialogue and glitch certain things, but that wouldn't be fun, would it. I try to get the most out of each character, and and maybe I do somethings more than I should, or talk to the same characters over and over, but I am having fun doing it.Moeboid wrote:It's definitely possible to finish almost everything in 200 hours. Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
No, I certainly haven't cleared every gave. I expect that I've done most of the side quests, but I'm aware of at least a couple that I haven't done. I've done a couple of radiant quests, too. Anyway, it certainly wan't a speedrun. I didn't skip any dialogue or glitch anything. I even have something like 4 skills trained to level 100. Hardly paid for training either (probably 5 - 10 levels paid for). And I played stealthy for the most part!

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
I'm at least 80 hours into Character #2 and she's barely done anything. I spent about 8 hours on "A Night to Remember" alone, and that's despite having done the quest before with Character #1.
But it's my favorite quest, so it must be done slowly and savored.

I know you didn't speedrund. I was just saying it is possible. Some guy did the Main Quest in about 2 and a half hours.Moeboid wrote:No, I certainly haven't cleared every gave. Probably around 150-200 hours total if I add up all my characters, I still have quite a few side quests to do as well. By the time I finish every quest in the game not including radiant ones I could see it taking around 500 hours.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
I've played somewhere around 440, I think - almost 430 logged with Alarra, about 7 with Ganvar, and then there was more times when I didn't save - my computer froze up or I decided to redo a bit or something and it wasn't saved.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Heh, after almost 2 years of the game being out, I only recently completed the Thieves' Guild questline... And I'm pretty sure that's the only guild I've ever completed in 400 hours of play! I do the opposite of rushing.Hrolf Alfblod wrote:Exactly! There's so much to do in this game, why rush it? Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
^Wow, D.W, now that brings back memories.
And yeah, that IS taking your time... but hey, if you can say that you've still thoroughly enjoyed those 400 hours, then how could anyone argue that's a bad thing? My philosophy is, and always has been that so long as you can get in game hours, the price of the game, (over here that's £40 a game, average) then it's money well spent. Spend £30 on a game, well so long as you're getting a minimum of 30 hours, it's money well spent. With Skyrim, +DLC's I've probably spent around £65 pounds, and over 1700 hours for that? That's a good investment; 1700 hours later and I still haven't done everything? THAT'S a fantastic investment.

Oh have I enjoyed them so very much. Plus I always feel like there's more to do. Heck, even if I completed everything in the game, the potential for new characters makes the replay value infinite.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Well, I think one of the reasons there still exist quests for me to do, is because I can't go without making at least 2 characters a week...a lot of them I don't keep, but that's irrelevant.

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
Steam tells me I've logged 270 hours. I have 7 characters, with my most played, first character having about 110 hours on him (MQ, Companions, Dragonborn). My second longest lasting character has about 30 hours and did the Dawnguard questline. I have a couple of characters who solely did the College and DB questlines (1 each), and they each have about 24 hours on them. The character I am currently playing may well outlast my first (and favorite) character, because I'm planning on a MQ and Dragonborn run with him, though only after he is super levelled, so I'm going around doing various miscellaneous quests and clearing caves and such to get levels. He may be in the high 70's in terms of hours before I continue with the MQ (not visited High Hrothgar yet).

Re: How many hours have you played skyrim?
The Steam counter says 667 in total, but a majority of that is tabbed out or being idle. I'd say about 200 if it was just active and not tabbed out on my level 48 Dunmer. On my Imperial, it's about 10, yet again tabbed out so about five.

I recently broke 700 hours. Can't change my vote, though, which saddens me unreasonably.

Well over 2000 hours according to Steam. And I haven't started Dragornborn yet, which I bought recently in one of in Steam's sales.
A lake in Skyrim is named after me.
