RealVision ENB
Has anyone tried this mod? I like Gopher's reviews and I trust his judgement but ENB is a testy thing. I pretty much want it for screenshots. Supposedly, this one is light on performance.

Re: RealVision ENB
I just tried it.
It's easier on the PC than most other ENBs I've tried, that's for certain. With my old dual-core and GTX 285, I got a performance loss of about 10-15fps and an increase in stuttering. Still playable. Then again, I only did a quick test with hardware antialiasing and whatnot enabled (I never disable them). That mean the ENB disabled certain effects and reduced quality. I'm pretty sure that probably had an impact on my performance.
Really, when dealing with various ENBs, it's better to try it for yourself. Not everybody has the same system, so it's hard to say how performance will be affected.
Just make sure you have the mods required for the best visuals.

Thanks Mauin. I think I'm going to pass it by for now. My computer isn't that great to begin with.

If you want it for screenshots, go ahead and give it a try. Slow frames when you're just taking pictures isn't a terribly big deal, and the benefit you get is wonderful

Re: RealVision ENB
^^ I did think about that. So I can have it off when I'm playing the game? I thought I read somewhere that you can still experience lag in the game even if the files are just there and not running. But I don't know [&@%!] about mods so....yeah. If anyone does know, I'd gladly love an answer.

Re: RealVision ENB
You can turn newer ENBs off when you're not taking screenshots. Usually by shift+F12. I think that's what it is, anyway. That's what it is for me (and it's why I have the Steam screenshot key set as F10). I don't think that work with ENBs that use an older binary.
And no, I don't really notice any lag when I turn an ENB off. The framerate usually improves if I'm using a performance heavy ENB.

It is possible there could be some impact if it isn't 'on', but it would be incredibly, ludicrously small. Essentially all it would be doing is waiting for you to press shift+f12 to turn it back on, so the only reason you would notice anything at all is if you were already right on the knife's edge.
