Cleaning mods from Morrowind

Post by Khali »

After many months of running around Skyrim I have the urge to re live some past fun in Morrowind. Seems like I have gotten some mods that are corrupted or something and the game crashes or there are several problems trying to load cells. I think I know which mod is the issue but there are so many data files now I'm not sure what goes to what mod.

At this point I want to do a total clean up and get back to the vanilla game without having to do a fresh install and patch job. Any one know where I can find a list of what should be in my data files folder for a vanilla Morrowind?

I was afraid of that, thanks for the reply. It will take me more than five minutes for a fresh install though. Four cd's and then a patch update.

You might be interested in skyrim dot nexusmods dot com/mods/27718//? Uninstaller creator by qqqbbb at Skyrim Nexus (sorry won't let me do an URL) as a way to get rid of mods without having to re-install. Personally I recommend that you re-install (please do not install to Program files or Program Filesx86), start the game one time to make sure an morrowind.ini gets made, exit the game (no need to save anything) and then zip up that install to an archive. Now next time you want a clean install it is a much simpler and faster process....just unzip your archive to a directory and start playing or adding new mods. Also the installers feature of Wrye Mash can be helpful adding and removing mods and all their files, but it do take a bit of work to maintain/use as many archives will need to be converted into a tree structure that mash recognizes. Archives starting with say Program Files tend to not get recognized by mash installers feature. Also note it is possible to change the order of mods in the installers tab of mash to change the install order so you can control which mod's files will overwrite another mod's files that have identical names (Texture replacers).
