Well, I've died many a time before sleeping/making my first save, so I generally do it just after I get the "Press J to review your journal, you're on your own" messageCactus wrote:I know I hadn't saved at all; I had to do that whole damned tutorial thing again.

My toughest enemies aren't that strong at all yet in their opinion i'm not so tough either; though most of my enemies would blast to death this specific enemies are imun to magic (i'm talking about fabricants, some goblins and various dwener bots) so i had to use my missing fighting skill and...ugh...fight like a barbarian!

The ultimate test of hardness is probably hitting Almalexia and seeing what happens. My xbox crashed often before I managed to exterminate the rooms inhabitants with my 100th level 100 all stats, ebony mail etc etc (normal difficulty, no 'cheats').
But for me the toughest fight was in Balmora, day 1, Commona Tong den. Killing the 'bad people' at 1st level was no stroll in the park. Lots of running and dodging, would not have made a good heroic movie scene, more Charlie Chaplinesque.
Redguard Master mentioned taking out Vivec, but not having a good reason. When I first met Vivec I wanted to kill him because I thought the Nerevarine was entirely justified in revenge on all of his 'allies' from the past. And after taking out Dagoth Ur as well, maybe becoming the one and only figurehead in the land. Vivec could put that in his pipe and smoke it..

I tend to go the fair way and fight enemies like they do me (standing still/strafing slightly and hacking with weapon and no potion stacking or other cheatey stuff.
With that said i don't have GOTY for my trusty Xbox yet so im limited to the not-so-tough enemies of the unexpanded game (compared the expansions').
With that said, I have tried some things that were pretty challenging.. I deleted my first character and i missed the look of his daedric armour so much that I decided to whack Divayth Fyr for his set.. at level one. Also tried taking on Vivec at level one. That's pretty hard when not cheating , mind you!

Yeah the big edge our characters have over every beastie in the game is that we can access our inventory, pausing the action, and slug down potions.
So really if you're stocked up on potions there isn't any way you can die EXCEPT Giderni Ralvel under Mournhold and his/her 1 hit killer spell which I suspect was designed to catch us potion swiggers out. But even then if you fortify your health enough you can take the damage

Mild Bloodmoon spoiler below:
It was definitely fighting all those werewolves before you get to Hircine. It was ludicrous! I must've been about level 40 but still couldn't get past them. The only good weapon I had though was a bow, and I was low on arrows when I got to that point in the quest. Stupid me.

Gaenor! Oh my god, I thought Umbra was the hardest when I first started playing, but Gaenor kicked my tail over and over. I got to where I just ran away from him. Then several levels later, I pulled out Umbra and whacked at him for 10 minutes. Victory at last was mine!Eladin wrote:That pesky Bosmer who begs for money in Mournhould. His name starts with a G, I think. The first time I tried to fight him I had no idea what was going on and he killed me within 10 seconds. I find out later he's level 50 with 100 agility and 100 strength...lame

I died so many times in that maze with the werewolves. I thought I'd never get out.jedimario wrote:Mild Bloodmoon spoiler below:

The thing about the werewolf maze is that you get trapped there after already doing a bit of adventuring, so it catches you unawares before you have had a chance to stock up. I had run out of repair hammers, potions, arrows, etc half way through the maze. Hircine was a tough fight with no equipment, but only after his pets had softened me up.
I think that I had to reload that whole section of the adventure, from before when you go out on the hunt. Lucky I had it saved..
The sewers in Mournhold are also pretty tough. Goblins, black dart gang and dark brotherhood. Definitely stock up with hammers and feather potions - I usually leave the sewers with 40 or 50 sets of dark brotherhood kit and 20 goblin bucklers. They provide a hired hand for a reason

Tips: For the maze it is best to be a werewolf! If you took the werewolf path stay werewolf till the end, if you cured and took the alternative path when you killed the skall chief you get the Hircine Ring which transforms you to werewolf!Mattbott wrote:The thing about the werewolf maze is that you get trapped there after already doing a bit of adventuring, so it catches you unawares before you have had a chance to stock up. You do not get Hircine's Ring until you kill Tharsten almost at the end of the second maze, so if you are human it is not possible to do the majority of the maze as a werewolf. You can therefore only do the fight with Hircine as a werewolf.Theron wrote:

Ah, well, you see, when i was playing bloodmoon for the first time it was with my semi retired Nerevarive character who had also just twatted Almalexia.
So I was limiting my gear to keep a bit of challenge in the game. Just wearing my favourite armour (not my best armour), carrying 3 weapons, a set number of potions and hammers, etc and only re stocking in between quests. (for example, I keep alchemy kit and ingredients at the base to avoid carrying too much junk).
I had completely misjudged the flow of the game when they sprung the maze on me, and I was a bit cocky due to my achievements to date.
That's what made it so tough. Unfortunately it turned out to be too tough on that occasion, I needed another 10 healing potions (as it turned out) and a few armourers hammers.

Yeah, Divayth Fyr is hard to kill, but let's face it, his attacks don't do much at all either...I mean, all you have to do is use the Amulet of Shadows, and then he'll conjure up a Storm Atronach which sits there and stares as your transparent self whacks the hell out of its master. Or, if you really [&@%!] him off, he'll start poking you with his Daedric dagger.
-May contain spoilers-
Almalexia wasn't that hard to kill, I had a pretty high marksman skill when I fought her for the first time, and those Dwarven darts sure come in handy. The first time I tried killing Vivec was around level 35, so that wasn't much of a problem either.
One thing, though, I haven't yet tried taking on Gedna Relvel...now that I'm level 64 and looking for challenges, I'll probably go do that after finishing the annoyingly long mod quest that I've been doing.
