My favorite is probably Lydia but only with the DB dlc. For once in my life, instead of saying "I am sworn to carry your burdens" in that real annoying voice, she was actually saying "As you wish my Thane" when i tried to give her gear!

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
Least favorite has to be Faendel. Picked him up to make him my house steward, and as soon as he was no longer my follower and switched into his civilian attire, a crossbow bolt strikes him in the side of the head and he drops dead. Damn dawnguard assassins

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
I've used Lydia for a while with my first character, because she was a spellcaster and sometimes you just can't find enough dead bodies to put something between you and the enemy...
But once my character drifted more towards the stealthy illusionist, she became so annoying that I told her to bugger off and go guard my book collection. I could take the whining about carrying my burdens, but I couldn't stand her constantly triggering traps, ruining my ambush attacks and attempts to avoid combat. I usually play stealthy characters, because for me that's much more fun than charging ahead, so I've tried several other followers and they all do the same thing. I have to stop all the time and tell them to wait until I deal with something, and then go back for them when the coast is clear. Too much of a bother, I'm flying solo. So I suppose my answer is: least favourite - Lydia, favourite - don't have one, the AI is crap and they ruin my fun.
My next character is going to be an Orc in the Imperial Legion though, so I suppose I'll need some magical backup for her. Maybe that will go better than finding help for my sneak-thief.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
There aren't any followers I don't like. It's more like most of them I don't care about. Although I do play with mods that make them much more useful and less stupid. Or at least they won't trigger traps and run up and attack everything in sight immediately.
I tend to keep around the same followers - using a mod that allows multiple followers makes them easier to manage. I tend to use Lydia, Kharjo, Erik the Slayer, Jordis, and J'zargo most of the time, though I like that Dunmer wizard girl too if she were more useful in melees.
In terms of personalities I like Lydia and Kharjo best. I know some people don't like Lydia, but that one sarcastic line of her gives her way more personality than a lot of the followers. Kharjo I like more than J'zargo, I always felt Kharjo had a "lolwat", laid-back attitude.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
Followers annoy me because they can't jump and have to find a flat route for their heavy weight hindering my acrobatic dovahkin. Therefore the most annoying one is Serana for a fact that she's dragging my feet wherever I go during dawnguard main quests.

I've used Faendel (I just call 'im Finn), Lydia, and the 1st Companion (forget his name at the moment). Least Fave is Lydia and Fave is Finn.

Dzio, if you choose a follower with an archery primary, you might run into fewer problems. When I had Annekke Crag-Jumper as my follower, she wasn't too annoying. But every time I would draw an arrow back to fire a sneak shot without waiting for her, she would walk her face right into the path of my arrow.

Oh, and one more thing. Never, not ever, take your follower with you when you're going hunting. I made that mistake and when my first shot didn't kill the deer, I ended up chasing after Lydia who was chasing after the wounded deer all the way from the Western Watchtower to the Silent Moons Camp. There was Benny Hill's mahnamahna music playing in my head.

My favorite follower is always Erandur. He has the most random dialogue so he feels the most 'alive'.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
I've never been a big fan of her. When Skyrim first came out the ONLY thing she said when you wanted to trade with her, was her really sarcastic/annoyed "I'm sworn to carry your burdens." Hearing her say it the say she says it got really old. Plus she's kind of dumb. Walk out of a cave after clearing it out and "Hey, look, a cave! I wonder what's inside?" What's inside? The corpses of our enemies. We just killed them, dear.logan1 wrote:So, why the lack of love for Lydia? All of my housecarls just sit in my house and act as a housekeeper eating my pre-placed food, so i never took her out for a spin. Is she just humorous, or stupid? I'm tempted to try her out just to see what she's like.
Of Vanilla followers I think Erik the Slayer is my favorite. He's just cute. But, I'm also getting pretty attached to Anum-La from the Interesting NPCs mod. She doesn't complain when I want to trade with her, and she has specific dialogue for many quests, locations, and conversations through the game. Talked to the Argonian that works in the tiny iron mine near either Winterhold or Windhelm *can't remember what it's called off hand* and after talking to him Anum-La made a comment about how he needs to stop complaining. XD She had a comment about the skeevers from one of the Thieves Guild quests, too.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
Personally i really dont like having followers around. Doesnt feel right for the dragonborn of legend, to have a houscarl or a friend hanging around.. Only time i had a follower was during the dawnguard questline, since Serana had just as much reason to stop the prophecy as I. She was also quite handy since she stood out of the way while using arcane spells.

Me too. My Argonian has been travelling with her for quite a while now, and she has apt and often very funny comments on pretty much everything, plus an elaborate and moving background story - all in all more personality than many vanilla followers.mewmew34 wrote: But, I'm also getting pretty attached to Anum-La from the Interesting NPCs mod.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
I only use Jenassa, since my assassin character prefers a sneaky approach and my mage character is prone to friendly fire. She tends to hang back and use her bow instead of rushing at enemies like a kamikaze pilot. My least favorite is probably Lydia, she gets in the way of my arrows and spells.

I'm pretty partial to Lydia.
Erik the Slayer is a classic pick though.
I tend to use Uthgerd the Unbroken a lot but it's only because she spontaneously started following me one day without me ordering her to accompany me.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
Console: Eola. She is good in melee, and having her summon something - or raise a dead enemy - really
adds to the fun. I also appreciate her special kind of beauty. That is, she does not have a standard
face. Second fave would be Annekke, who is versatile and effective. Ingjard is also pretty cool in the
heavy end.
PC: Lots of them. My current character, Jean Lien, now has 5 followers. Sometimes it is fun to just
sit back and watch them beat down a draugr or three. He has Eola, Annekke, Lydia the tattooed lady,
Hroki (yes, mods), and Distel (non-OEM), which makes tunnel fights pretty dramatic. Thank goodness
for no-clip, otherwise he would be stuck underground forever.
Hmm: Sven was my first Skyrim follower, and he was incredibly lame. I did not know about followers
leveling, so when my character Kjell got to L50 or so he had to retire Sven. Difficult to say how many
times we had to reload after Kjell was killed, despite his enchanted and smithed Daedric armor. Still and
all, he was fun to bring along.

Re: Favorite /least favorite followers
Seranna all the way, she just has way more personality than any other follower, and on top of that she's actually useful in combat. Really, she's the reason I do the dawnguard quest line.
