Love the series, going through my third playthrough now (starting at one as always). I find it really hard playing the first two games though from a controlling point of view, as I really like how the game played in the third Mass Effect.
I am actually about to start on the four book series (I think it is four anyway), has anyone read them?

Agreed, it is horrible compared to ME3 (and even ME2). Makes playing so much more difficult, but the game does have it's charms.

Okay, so I'm going to continue condemning the claim that Quarians have the best technology in the galaxy in the appropriate topic because it's crazy and you must be crazy if you believe it.

AgreedX1000. His whole romance is great, but one of my favorite lines from it is at its beginning in ME2: "There's nobody in this galaxy I respect more than you." Love . My desktop is still a screenshot of him in his civvies, holding a bottle of wine.

I mean the geth. In terms of everything else, it's always the asari.

The majority of geth technology was designed by the geth themselves, not the quarians. Any of the Citadel races would be capable of producing AI like the geth if they had any reason to do so. Just look at EDI.
Exactly. So, which game had the best last mission? I would say ME2. The suicide mission was awesome, and your decisions matter more than any other ending in the game.

ME2, not only has the best last mission, but also is te best game overall in my opinion. But, both last missions are awesome. Seeing a reapers destructive power for the first time in ME1 was awesome, and seeing every race in the galaxy unite for one final battle in ME3 was awesome also, if a little ruined by the four choices in the end, that take no account of your previous choices.

I liked ME2 the best. And really, EDI is reaper tech? I thought it was just Cerberus project... How could it be reaper tech when Cerberus was clearly against the reapers until near the end of ME3?
And yeah, it seems pretty clear from the in game dialogue that Asari are overwhelmingly considered the most advanced race in the galaxy. No idea who would be next. Quarians and Salarians seems to be pretty brainy, so I think it'd be out of those two rather than the Turians. If I had to guess, I'd say Asari, Salarians, Quarians, Turians, Humans, Krogan... Am I forgetting anyone?
EDI was a cerberus project and they were against them to begin with, but the Illusive Man wanted to created an AI that was able to counter or at the very least understand the Reapers. She was designed and made from Reaper tech, which was salvaged from Sovereign's body.

ME2 was the best, by far. I knew that anyone in my squad could die at any moment during the Suicide Mission, so all of the moments near the doors with such close quarter fighting, even in the cutscenes, just continued to give me shots of adrenaline. Very few games can actually do that.

Ahh, I see. I must have missed that bit of information somehow. And Grunt is awesome. As an infiltrator, I appreciated his close combat abilities greatly. Became less useful in my insanity run as killing husks with certain powers is just as easy regardless of difficulty setting (except for the fact that they have armour on insanity), where as killing them with weapons is damn near impossible. Besides that, though, I just liked his character development. Felt like I had a true friend by the end of ME2 .
