So...my bard can't sing...
Windstad Manor...home to Master Alchemists relying on the fish hatchery to supply them with the ingredients for deadly poisons and life-altering potions; unfortunately, also the workplace of live-in bard Sonir-who cannot sing.
Well, I suppose she can, as in, she does, but god, with that singing voice I'd rather pay her NOT to. Well, there go my peaceful nights brewing fortify archery and damage health/slow poisons for the next days hunt; as now all I get is a butchery of the once loved 'Ragnar the Red.'
Darn you Sonir.

It's not like my poaching is hurting anyone, the other hunters can hardly track every deer, can they?

It could be worse. Llewellyn the Nightingale delights in constantly singing "Age of Aggression" and dedicating his songs to the Imperials. Unfortunately, my staunch, heavy-armoured, greatsword-wielding Stormcloak doesn't quite have the same tastes...

Re: So...my bard can't sing...
Hmm, I always just assumed the hired bards played the 'Age of' song based on which faction your character had joined/followed out of Helgen. Probably based off of the occupying faction in the hold, Falkreath starts off Imperial, so that's probably it
At least yours is changeable, even when I dismiss her services she still seems to be singing, and I'm no murderer.

You can tell them to stop singing for a while. Ask for instrumental.

Re: So...my bard can't sing...
Alas, he is still alive. This is my good, non-murdering character. Although, she has just been turned into a werewolf thanks to the Tales of Lycanthropy mod, so...
Eh, I'll give him until after I finish the main quest and can carry on with the Civil War. If he's still singing about the Imperials after the Stormcloaks have taken over, he's going to be found accidentally mauled to death after the next full moon. The more annoying part is that under his requests it's listed as 'Age of Oppression', yet he sings 'Age of Aggression'.
legoless, I do that every time he starts, but I can't be beside him every time he begins.

That is what I was constantly doing with her lol. "Lets hear some lute, or drums please" Anything but singing fcol.legoless wrote:You can tell them to stop singing for a while. Ask for instrumental.
Although things started getting less musical in the house. Did not think too much of it at first - figured she was outside on the deck like she does sometimes.
But after a Skyrim month or so of quiet, I figured I better go look for her yikes. I found her dead on the gentle slope near the deck stairs by the animal pen. So it goes. She was either killed by a bandit or maybe my music loving steward? Oh well. She is still out there, not sure where I will "bury" her.

Female bards in Skyrim are horrible in general. Always just a fraction of a note off and to my ear that's really grating. I first heard the Skyrim songs in Malukah's interpretation and after hearing the real deal I was soooooo disappointed...
So yeah, drums for me too.

The bards added by Hearthfire cannot sing at all.

Really? I thought his voice was decent. Fitting for a nordic theme.

I wonder what really goes on in the Bards College? They teach you 4 songs, bit o' lute strumming, flute blowing and drum banging, then secret plans for world domination me thinks. Perhaps there's subliminal messaging going on in their songs.

They do the strumming, banging and blowing for an hour and then say "ah well, screw it" and break out the spiced wine. After which I imagine a very different kind of strumming, banging and blowing happens.

Re: So...my bard can't sing...
I hate that so much. My main character is a Stormcloak, and married to the biggest badass the Stormcloak army has ever seen, and yet Llewellyn STILL is always singing Aggression. I can request Oppression and he'll make the Stormcloak comment, but then he sings Aggression instead. He's lucky I know he's just glitched or he'd have lost his head a long time ago.SilentPsycho wrote:It could be worse. I refuse to move to Winstad manor again after hearing that woman sing Ragnar the Red. I love that song, but not the way she sings it. >_< I'm having my Orc move into the third property that I can't spell the name of. No Ragnar the Red, but at least the bard there can actually sing the songs she does know.

Can you hire a bard to come and sing in your house?

Yes, if you have Hearthfire and buy one of the three properties you build a house on. You have to have a follower become steward at your home, and then you can have them hire a bard. Each of the three properties has its own bard.Aarah wrote:Can you hire a bard to come and sing in your house?

Re: So...my bard can't sing...
I haven't taken over any towns, but I never needed to before recently. All I needed was to start the process of joining the Stormcloaks and he would sing the right song. But, around the last update or two, he seems to have stopped working right. Like I said, when I talk to him I can ask him to play Age of Oppression, the Stormcloak song. He'll say "You must be a Stormcloak through and through to request that one." But then he sings Aggression, the Imperials version.Archer wrote:Have you conquered Falkreath for the stormcloaks yet?mewmew34 wrote:I hate that so much. You have to conquer the town for the song to switch over, I think.

From what I'm reading, does the Windstad Manor bard share a voice with Karita at the Windpeak Inn? Because she is my favorite bard ever and I adore her silly version of Ragnar the Red. I want the bard who sounds like she's having the most fun.

Re: So...my bard can't sing...
You'd be right, console wedding, although you might soon come to regret ever claiming to like her voice. Maybe in small doses. But not at home. Dovahkiin has spent their entire day saving the realm, they shouldn't have to come home to....that.
