Cyrodiil Confessions
Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
The Arena one was just Hack-to-Win. No story or anything to keep me interested.

It was fun for first few attempts but get undoubtedly tedious after that. I just waltzed through the realm with invisibility and fortify acrobatic to the sigil chamber , couldn't even care with the loots anymore.Linkuya wrote:I strongly disliked closing Oblivion gates, super tedious for me.
I had more fun with a new game without delivering Amulet of Kings to Jauffre so oblivion gate won't appear. Who cares about Martin anyway

@Linkuya, I just never got around to starting The Arena. I guess deep down my heart belongs to the wilds of Cyrodiil.
Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
I'm going to be brutally honest, I didn't like Oblivion's main quest as much as Skyrim's. I'm the same as you, when starting a new game I don't even start the main quest.Pancake wrote:It was fun for first few attempts but get undoubtedly tedious after that. I've edited the guards in the Imperial City to have the Imperial Watch armour instead of the Legion one (kinda makes more sense, IMO..) and most guard captains have longswords and shields. I've also put robes on most Mages Guild members and other typical mage/scholar-type characters.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
When I had finally done everything in the game, I collected books. I took the hours to shelf them myself, and went anywhere I could (but never bookstores) to find rare and valuable books. Seldom did I read these books. I just collected them.
I duplicated my saves, and roleplayed as an extremely rich, accomplished hero gone bad, and methodically murdered people in their houses, even leaving complex serial killer marks behind so that the guards would see a pattern but never find me. I used Battlehorn Castle as my "home base" during this ordeal, hiding inside it and storing objects within the hidden chambers that I obtained from my killings.
I often created duplicates of myself, and then changed their race, and some other features, all via console, to fill up my houses. I even kept a copy of myself in the Shivering Isles to greet me whenever I entered. At some points, I even fully stocked Battlehorn Castle with my duplicate creations, set them as hostile toward the guard factions, and led guards up to the castle whenever I was in big, big trouble.
I collected specialty drinks as well, including all the Surilie Vintages, Tamika Vintages, and Shadowbanish wines, as well as other unique alcohol including Newheim's Brew. I bought Frostcrag Spire entirely for the Daedric Bloodwine (iirc that's what it was called). I even kept some quest item drinks and never finished the quests that went along with them.
My house was 100% organized. At one point I had set a table, propped items up for display in cabinets, and even stored "shameful" items in hidden places.

The way I play Oblivion, I usually end up spending something like an in game month outside of any major settlements, instead living from inn to inn or any bandit camps I happen to clear out.

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
The Arena is boring... Then again, I've never been a fan of combat.
Same goes for the Fighters Guild. I couldn't complete that because I was so bored I wound up deleting the character I started it on. Never touched it again.
I've only ever done the Arena once... And it was just so I could kill the Adoring Fan over and over again.
I'm also guilty of running off to Kvatch as soon as I can to get the Oblivion Gates opening. It's not that I enjoy them (I do, though to be honest, I prefer Apocrypha in Skyrim), it's just that they have this habit of making me rich. I'm greedy.
I also don't bother with leveling anymore. Constantly trying to manage my characters to ensure that they leveled correctly and efficiently was irritating, so I downloaded the Leveler's Shack. Never been bothered with leveling again. I can get all the leveling and whatnot done in the beginning and then run off to do whatever I want. Usually (like I said above) running off to Kvatch. It's a mess when you go there at a higher level. All the Xivilai everywhere.

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
I remember I had a day off from school once, and I decided to spend it on an Oblivion marathon.
So I loaded the game, noticed I was standing on top of a roof in the Waterfront, and starting hopping along as far around as I could without touching ground. Initially, I told myself it was to build up my Acrobatics skill (new character). Then it was just fun.
I spent literally the entire day bouncing around various thatched and tiled roofs throughout each of the main cities.
(My Acrobatics still only got to around 60. I mean, come on!)

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
I shoot an arrow in a legionaire knee a fair amount of times. It's a good thing that the COC becomes the madgod thus the Skyrim guards can't join forces with the descendants of the guards in Oblivion to hunt down the person that shoot an arrow to their knee. I've kinda died to a mudcrab once. I was low on health, had nothing left and it was one of those characters that didn't know magic. It crept up behind me and killed me.
I pressed R2 to try and use the Thu'um in Oblivion after i first got bored of Skyrim and booted it up.

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
Ooh that reminds me.
Not that this is about Morrowind, but:
I decided to try playing it after way-overplaying Oblivion (got spoiled on graphics, didn't work). Made my character, did the first few quests, met a mudcrab, attacked bravely-- and ran away, it almost killed me. Then got stuck in a small room with a rat: I was massacred. Multiple times.
I haven't put Morrowind in since. ...it's been like 9 months now.

I started trying to summon Haskill to every cell in SI. I kept forgetting where I left off, so now its just habitual that as soon as the word "loading" appears or I step through a door, I hit the hot key.
His name was Emer Dareloth.

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
I often use unnatural methods to boost my skills. For example I tie an elastic band around my old controller to sneak into a corner for hours so I can boost my sneak skill. I stand in that basement in Anvil getting attacked by rats to boost my Heavy Armour skill. I make spells that are very weak and last 1 second to boost magic. I'm not really using glitches though, I'm just practising the skill.
I get the Skeleton Key so I can just press auto pick until I win because I hate the lockpicking mini game. Same with a 100 charm for 3 seconds on touch spell because I hate the speech game.
Also I jump out of reach so I can easily kill Umbra and can get to keep a kickass 0 weight sword early on. I don't need to fight fair as long as I win.

So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
In the Arena, I discovered that I can drag the corpses of the minotaurs and bear over to a side gate, and if I place them just right, raise the gate and they'll be hung there for the spectators to gawk at. I now do this every in-game week.
His name was Emer Dareloth.

Re: Cyrodiil Confessions
I've never finished the Fighters Guild. I think I may have been close to, a few years ago, but I can't remember.
I do know though that I didn't like the whole, "Join the guild in City A, have to report to City B on the other side of Cryodiil to kill some goblins, then report back to City A for a second Quest." I always managed to join in the wrong city.
