What makes you mad in Skyrim?
I was wondering what little (or big) things make people angry on their travels through Skyrim?
For me today, it was trying to sell a bunch of stuff and being constantly over encumbered (even my follower Faendal could bear no more!) and also shops not having enough dosh to buy all your junk so I suddenly was forced to become a travelling merchant.
Also, Faendal decided to deplete the charge on ALL my staffs I gave him to carry after a dragon attacked Riverwood. 'Use you arrows!' He wouldnt listen.
Lastly, which really gets me riled, is my, yes MY, allocated room in the college of Winterhold, in which that annoying Khajit J'zargo keeps going into and sitting on MY chair like he owns it. One time he even had the cheek to start eating a sandwich! Just plain rudeness! My advice to the College... buy some bloomin' doors for the place! I really dont like the open nature of the quarters - what if I want to get changed? Ludicrous!
I think im a bit overly irrate about this perhaps - it been good to rant.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
The only thing that irritates me... Is all the NPCs and whatnot who block during combat. "Power attacks can break through blocks!"
Uh-huh. Tell that to my game, will you? Nothing can break through an opponent's block. Not me power-attacking with my blade, not me power-attacking with my claws/talons. They just sit there and block and bash, absorbing most of the damage. They shouldn't be able to do that, but they do. And it [&@%!] me off.
Hence, the "kill" and "killall" console commands are two of my favorites.
Other than that... Glitches that result in the destruction of a save. Those game-breakers that ruin everything and force a restart if you don't have any backup saves. Which, more often than not, I don't. Those 15MB saves tend to add up after a while.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Oh god, yes. I had a really nice thief character, just about to finish the Thieves Guild questline after about 80 hours of playing, and then something broke and the game would crash and go to desktop every time I opened "Ingredients" or "Potions" tabs in my inventory. And it was like that with every save for that character. She wasn't using magic, except for Illusion and a bit of Restoration, so I couldn't very well stop using Alchemy for the rest of the game. Had to restart completely.
Another thing that bugs me is when an object becomes unpickable for some reason. There it is, sitting on a table, I point at it and it might as well be just painted there. Hasn't happened to me with any important objects, but it's extremely annoying when you see some nice loot or a useful potion, and you can't get it because of a stupid glitch.

Not to many things [&@%!] me off, but I do find people - especially followers - standing in your way kind of annoying. I do have a mod which makes them walk out of the way, except it usually takes them about 15 seconds to do it.
Random CTDs are also annoying, but I save a lot so it's not an issue.
Also, Stormcloaks. :p

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
I had an odd one where Delphine died during A Blade in the Dark even though she is essential. The resurrect command brought her back and everything seemed to be working normally.dzio wrote:Oh god, yes. A few hours of gameplay later, around the point of Alduin's Bane, the save started crashing every 5-10 minutes with no particular pattern. That was also around the 80 hour mark. It continued doing that all the way to the end and probably drove me temporarily insane whenever I tried playing that character. I did actually make a backup save for this character before updating to the newest CoT, so I stuck that one back into the saves directory and went from there. I just hope it doesn't happen again.
Tying into the whole glitch thing, I really hate how certain quests are so glitchy. There are a few quests in Skyrim that I will not touch, the most notable being Lost to the Ages. Seriously. The last time I tried doing that quest, it destroyed poor Verina Fire-Mane.
The quest will not start on any of my characters (usually reading the book gives you the objective to visit Arkngthamz, but it never does). Visiting the ruin will start the quest, but from there, the quest objectives will not update. In other words: the quest will not progress at all without the use of the console, and even then, it still doesn't work properly. Because of the issues with it, I will not go near Lost to the Ages. Not again.

All the massive bugsies, that destroy my games.
contrary to popular belief, i do not enjoy being forced to start over twice in every game i play.
also, i personally find thinking about the MQ annoying. i try to avoid thinking about it, but it comes to mind whenever someone mentions Skyrim.

Oddly enough, despite the fact I have at least 5 times as many mods on it, I find Skyrim pretty stable compared to Oblivion - Skyrim rarely CTDs for me now after I installed all these mods (no idea why), but Oblivion is guaranteed to CTD every other play session.
I think I think, therefore I think I am.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
That, as a console player, I have little to no control over the attire of my spouse, and even followers can be hard to manage. I think, if the player wants to give a follower worse armour to wear, then theres probably a reason for it, so just wear it >looking at you Teldryn< maybe, we should have just been able to view their inventory and tell them to equip certain items. Easy.
Oh, and also, the lack of non-human potential spouses. Single NPC's exist within each race, so why can't we just marry them? Same with kids, even a scaled down character model would suffice.
(By lack of non human, I mean little/no options for non human, I know that some races do have a couple of options, hardly enough though)

I was at war and the war was almost done. I had out my bow and I was about to end the war and the game froze and I needed to start the war again.
Also whenever my follower so in this case Faendal dies in battle and I'm a low level.
Lastly whenever I have one pick lefts and I am trying to pick a lock and it breaks.

The only thing that truly ticks me off on a regular basis, is something that probably bugs many people. My followers standing in the freakin doorways and making it impossible to leave a room! Gotta shove them around if I want to leave because they insist on standing DIRECTLY in the doorway when I stop to do something.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Lack of classes mainly for the lack of skill bonuses in relevant skills. I want my nightblade to play like a nightblade straight away not at level 20 after spamming muffle.
Not alot to really do, all the quest lines seem so short and insubstantial and many of the named quests are pretty dull.
Skyrim seems really small, Im not sure if it is but it really seems smaller than cyrodill and morrowind, ive pretty much seen everything and been everywhere on skyrim but there's still new places I stumble across on the other 2 games or i think "you know what ive never even been to that part of the map"
Mages totally owning me, I mean come on how come my fireballs barely scratch enemies health yet theirs wipe me out in 2 shots? Not to mention they might as well be wearing daedric armor with how much of a beating they can take.... stupid level scaling.
Hills and mountains all up in my grill, I swear there's only like 20% of the map you can actually walk around without hammering jump and inching up a hill.
enemies who just block over and over until they die, I feel pretty unheroic killing a guy by hitting his axe shaft several times.
Cop out towns. seriously morthal, dawnstar, falkreath and winterhold are glorified villages , its just lazy that half of skyrims main towns are total filler.
Dragons that really want to go to collage, I mean is it really necessary for a dragon to spawn EVERYTIME I go to the collage of winterhold?
Speaking of witch I hate the poor education standards of skyrim, I only knew how to cast like 4 spells and they made me the grand poobah of magic at the collage< I don't even know what im doing :/ and it turns out that my dreams of bard-dom will never come true, My teachers in the bards collage seemed more interested in sending me after books and draugr than teaching me the Eminor scale... ah well i can always bang my drum like creeper.
No newspapers.... without the black horse courier many citizens of skyrim are still convinced the civil war is still going on, even after i stormed windhelm and paraded ulfrics corpse through the streets. You'd think word of mouth would at least be a thing.
Immortals of skyrim. How am i supposed to clear out the remains of the stormcloaks from their camps if they hire these undying immortals as commanders?
Chickens. Never have I seen such obnoxious chickens, always posturing and giving me disrespect..... whats worse is I once killed one and the guards fined me like 300 gold, Its a chicken for julianos sake!

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Yeh, followers can be a right pest. I do hate it when im sneaking around a silent eerie underground cavern, highly alert, and then my follower scares the begubbins out of me by saying 'oh!' cos he's slightly bumped into me (and why does he sound surprised? Like he's not been right behind me for an hour.)
Amnesiac people. Like one woman who insulted my outfit and then gave me one of her posh frocks to wear for advertisment purposes. I put it on. A minute later I walked past her and she proceeded to insult her own outfit. Err...hello!?
Lydia taking up a whole room in my house. Did I say you could move in? No. Get out and go
back up to Dragonsreach, you squatter.
And Onmund, only had him as a follower once as he was far too trigger happy with his lightning spell. Got a giant all crazy for no reason, spent 5 mins knee deep in water firing at a far away slaughterfish - and the worst- an innocent goat, minding its own business - bam! shocked to death. Not cool Onmund, not cool.

Put some perks into Illusion and you won't have that problem.Yaije wrote:Leveling up and then all my illusion skills stop working....
Can't say that there's anything that actually makes me mad, but one thing that annoys me are the dialog options that aren't really options at all, because no matter which one you choose, you get the same response.
Hm... speaking of dialog, there's actually another thing that bothers me. Lazy/bad voice acting. I understand that not every NPC can have their own voice actor. Voice actors have to cover multiple NPCs. But why, if those NPCs don't share any dialog, do they all have to have the same voice? This is especially bad if those NPCs have a conversation with each other, in which case they just could have used different voice actors for them. But take Heimskr and Balgruuf for example. No shared dialog, same voice. Why? A good voice actor has more than one voice. Just look at the voice actors who do The Simpsons. Some of them voice more than half a dozen characters, each of them with a different voice.

You know what, I murdered Valdr (as in Valdr's Lucky Dagger, as in Moss Mother Cavern) today because he kept sitting on a chair next to the bed in Dead Man's Drink I had rented for the night, munching his loaf of bread and, will you believe it?, watching my Argonian undress for the night. This game just has no sense at all of privacy.Aarah wrote:Lastly, which really gets me riled, is my, yes MY, allocated room in the college of Winterhold, in which that annoying Khajit J'zargo keeps going into and sitting on MY chair like he owns it. Aside from followers blocking my way through doors, or jumping in front of my arrows, one thing that really bugs me is the way Serana bumps into me all the time. This is especially frustrating when I'm trying to pick something up, she nudges me, and then there are guards surrounding me because SHE made me steal something!
"No, officer, I didn't mean to take that valuable item, honest, I was trying to take this worthless item instead."
* glares at Serana *

Unless there's some option I can't use the way I play, that's not much better. Talk to them, tell them to "wait here" out of the way, move where I want, tell them to follow me again. Probably that loading screen of the flowery Gildergreen tree is the only thing that really, truly irritates me. For some reason, that one's many times longer than other loading screens; I often have to read a little bit or do something else while waiting for that one. I normally don't have to wait long at all.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Huh. So I'm not the only one who's had loading times take longer with that particular loading screen?
It hasn't done that to me for a long time, but I remember on my first few characters that it could take 5-10 minutes for it to load when I got that loading screen. Sometimes it wouldn't load at all and I had to kill the game with the task manager and try again.
Also going to agree with Belthazor on the voice acting.
I honestly don't pay that much attention to it anymore, but the number of characters who have the same voice is a little irritating. Surely they couldn't have at least tried to create different accents for them?
It's kinda odd in the Thieves Guild questline at one point. We're hunting down Mercer and we come across another character (Enthir) who has pretty much the exact same voice. They should have given Enthir a different voice.

I hate that. My Marcurio got glitched, so I've had him following me on my Argonian character until I can figure out how to make him a steward again (nobody is answering my question in the help forum). Since having him as my companion, he's [&@%!] off a few people. Was wandering with Beem-Ja and Salma to do their little thing, and Marcurio [&@%!] off Salma with his chain lightning spell and fought with her until she died. I had to reload and tell him to wait his ass outside until I was finished. He did it again later with another friendly half-follower later, but I don't remember that one's name off hand. Managed to break them up by going through a nearby door. He's nailed me with the stupid spell a few times I think, too. I just hope he never hits my husband with it or he's going to be sorry.Aarah wrote: And Onmund, only had him as a follower once as he was far too trigger happy with his lightning spell. Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Master of the Mind perk makes Illusion spells work against Undead, Automatons and Daedra. If you dual-cast, even the apprentice level spells affect level 50+ opponents. If you invest the perks, it works for everything - except Dragons and maybe the Greybeards.Yaije wrote:Doesn't really work for everything... like undead and mechanical things.
