The Wii outsold both of the other consoles put together. WiiU has been a flop comparatively.

Everyone thought that motion gaming was going to be amazing, but it wasn't. Now the WiiU is built around the whole you can play without your TV thing, while Sony has the Vita PlayStation link.

Wii U has been an all around failure, for Nintendo anyway, so much so that even EA questions it's success. When EA leaves, things are serious.
