Do you mean does the game change the name you've chosen for your character? No, it doesn't.

No sorry you misunderstood.. I mean if one takes their name and tries to change it to ones characters race.. would be kinda cool. =_= sorry I cannot explain better.

Going to move this to TES General since it's not only about Oblivion.

With players of Western Europe and North America this is obviously the easiest to do with Imperial or Bretons: just take a foreign version of your taken name. Angelica becomes 'Angelique' for a Breton, Mark becomes 'Marcus' for an Imperial.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I've never tried this before, but I like the idea, so I think I might try to do so with my next character.

I just take the general theme of the names of a specific race and add/replace a few letters. Ta-da, infinite canon-sounding names.

I usually do this as well, or I just take a name from someone of that race that was in a previous game but not used in the game I'm playing.

Although the character I am currently playing is an Orc which I just named Grinder! xD

I've never tried to use a lore friendly version of my name in a game though. My name is short so that might make it harder to do, I guess it would be most suited to a Nord but it might be hard to change around.
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!

I'd have thought the elf's name would simply be Dennis.... Not everything gets a pair like George and Jorhe (or however it's spelled)

I named a nord after myself using a viking name translator. I can't remember what it was, though.

The races which are based upon real life cultures are easy enough to translate your name into. My name, Henrik, is just Heinrikr as a nord, Henri as breton, Henricus for imperials, because they are based on norse, french, and roman respectively. I don't know what the others are based on though, probably many influences. Just look at some names of the race you're interested in and change yours to fit into that style. Henrik into orcish might become Henk-gro Rikash or something, and into dunmeri it might be Henridoth. Also, note that some cultures like orcs and khajiits have small particles in their name that actually means something. Gro is a masculine particle in orcish, and do- means warrior in khajiiti. So don't just go around using those without knowing what they mean. I advice reading on uesp about names.

^ This is typically what I do too.

I don't know if my name, Rebecca, is a very easy one to convert to an ES name. I guess a Khajiit name, Ra'bhaeka or something, but that's all I can think of, no other races.

I just name my characters whatever I want to. My last character was an Imperial named The Sushi Destroyer, now the character is a Redguard named Vashta Sythe. I try to make the names just a bit exciting, as it makes reading letters more fun. :D
