Re: Lenovo G555 Fails to boot up
Need some more specs, like OS, age of the hard drive, age of the laptop, what exactly is happening when you try to boot up, how you are turning it off/putting it to sleep/hibernating it. The more details you can give the better chance we have of figuring out what's going on.

Re: Lenovo G555 Fails to boot up
The proccessor is an AMD Athlon II Dual-core M320 and it has 2GB ram. Sometimes, it fails to boot up at all. The HDD indicator doesn't signal anything and only the signs of it being on are active.

Re: Lenovo G555 Fails to boot up
It has window 7. I just get a black screen and can hear the fan spinning. Even the Bios doesn't load up and can take many attempts before it actually loads. It took me 6 attempts to turn it on. And is roughly 3 years old. I always shut it down properly and have recently disabled the sleep function.

Re: Lenovo G555 Fails to boot up
I've not upgraded anything on it. Not even the Bios boots up and it can take hours before it finally does boot up. I'm using the mains due to the battery being pretty much dead. It only holds 20 minutes of charge at most.

If your BIOS doesn't boot, it's either a faulty battery, or a pretty dead motherboard. The computer may be dead and gone? It happens...

Re: Lenovo G555 Fails to boot up
The battery is pretty much [&@%!]. That became almost usless years ago and only holds 20 minutes worth of charge. It's not the battery as it still works without the mains. Suspect it is the motherboard as sometimes, the HDD incidcator flashes once when i boot it up and it fails. May have discovered a trick to make my life easier. I left it running in it's failure to boot up state(Aka Blank screen but it powers up.) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, it still hadn't booted up. So i tried again and it worked. If that is the trick, it will make my life easier and hopefully, the [&@%!] will last untill i can afford a new one.

There are batteries and batteries... I meant the CMOS battery.

Re: Lenovo G555 Fails to boot up
I've come up with a way to get it to boot up on the first attempt. Just have to boot it up and leave it like that for 15 minutes then try again. Usually works within 3 attempts. Although it had been booting up on the first attempt recently. It's a lot better then what it was last week now i've discovered this trick.
