Re: Skyrim mysteries
I wouldn't trust anything on that wiki. Alot of information there seems lacking in evidence and is just added to fill up the page. Just because someone shares a name dosen't make them related, and I seriously doubt this is some minute easter egg, when we already got one in the form of General Carius in Dragonborn.Raynil dralas wrote:Are you kidding? he looks just like him even one of the skyrim wikis says it may be a reference.Br3admax wrote:No, they aren't similar enough.
Plus there seems to be alot of references to morrowind in skyrim (a whole dlc for one) finding keening, septimus seeking the heart of lorkhan etc.

I honestly haven't played the game enough for there to some mysteries that don't seem unanswerable, but I do want to know how to open the Nordic tombs without the keys.
And ditto on goldenglow sewers.

Strictly speaking, anyone who knows the right spell can fly. Flight isn't all that uncommon in TES. Its usefulness is somewhat limited by the existence of teleportation, though.

What the hell did the ancient nords make their candles out of? Those things have been burning for thousands of years and are still going.
Long has the Stormcrown languished, with no worthy brow to sit upon.
By our breath we bestow it now to you in the name of Kyne, in the name of Shor, and in the name of Atmora of old.
You are Ysmir now, the Dragon of the North, hearken to it.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Okay this isn't strictly a mystery but it's always bugged the crap out of me.
At the beginning of the game, the big problem in Skyrim (apart from the civil war) is that the dragons are back, flying around, clawing people, burning down cities, etc. And then the Dovahkiin appears...and does absolutely nothing to solve that problem. Like, you defeat Alduin, so the world won't get swallowed. But that wasn't even a problem anyone knew about, except maybe like Delphine and Esbern. So are dragons just back forever now? Will they be burning down Skyrim cities (and presumably cities all over Tamriel!) forever? I like fighting dragons but it's sort of unsatisfying - compared to Oblivion, for instance, where there are a finite number of gates and finishing the MQ will effectively end the crisis. There's really no end to the dragon crisis.

Similarly, how are bandits getting by in lairs full of traps? I understand security, but it seems like a wildly impractical way to live.DragonoftheNorth wrote:What the hell did the ancient nords make their candles out of? Those things have been burning for thousands of years and are still going.

Why is when I'm in a cave or underground ruin, I see openings to the world above.. yet try as I might I cannot find said openings. It makes sense with ruins>_> air vents and all.. but I recall underground groves with large ceiling exposed yet they do not exist???
I honestly think it would be cool to run a risk of falling down one>_> though most would die from fall damage

I have one: how come there are no love triangles in COW? All those mages locked up in a fortress secluded from the world...how come there's no soap opera [&@%!] going down? Love affairs? Babies? Murders?

Yeah, Faralda, Nirya, and Sergius Turrianus have a triangle thing going on, which is weird and ugh and I wish I didn't know about it.
Feel free to school me on any of these:
Nords sure do drink a lot of mead. Where are Skyrim's bottle manufacturers?
Why does Serana talk about being a "little vampire girl" when I didn't think that vampires aged?
Joric is Idgrod Ravencrone's son - did she give birth to him when she was 60 or something?
Did Brelyna, Onmund, and J'zargo get to know Borvir and Rundi, Ilas-Tei, and Yisra at all?

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Oh man I wondered this. That made me crazy because it feels so deliberate. Maybe vampires can mate and have vampire babies? But why did her aging apparently halt in her mid-20s?ConsoleWedding wrote:Why does Serana talk about being a "little vampire girl" when I didn't think that vampires aged?
Also, how old is Klimmek? When you first meet him he's complaining about how his knees aren't what they used to be, he's too old to climb the 7000 steps, etc...but then he wants to marry Fastred, who is clearly about 25. Creepy Klimmek.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
The Serana thing I wondered about as well. Perhaps she underwent the ritual in her teens/early 20s already. My favorite dialogue line from the entire Dawnguard story line is when she's talking about Valerica's alchemy garden "We used to walk here after evening meals". It just sounded so damn creepy and icky!
Re: Skyrim mysteries
When you give Madesi a chunk of gold ore he says, "Perfect! Melting this down will make plenty of gold for those necklaces I started," or something. Yet I need *two* chunks of gold ore to make one goddamn ring. Something fishy there for sure.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
I'd like to know more about the Abandoned Carts of Skyrim. Every now and then you come across a cart that's been carelessly abandoned, sometimes even rolling down a hill at you. Who left them there? There's no bodies nearby. At the foot of Dustman's Cairn there's an overturned cart and cabbages spilled all over the place. What became of this poor cabbage merchant? Did he decide to take a break for a "call of nature" and wander too close to the graveyard nearby? Or did a passing giant think "ooh, skittles!" and send him flying into Hjaalmarch? History does not record.
On a related note, I've always wondered what was up with that skeletal human torso that's lying on the road just outside Whiterun. What happened there, and why has no one bothered to clean up?

Whiterun is just creepy. It looks all nice, but then you find a skeleton floating in the moat under the bridge to Dragonsreach...Hawthorn wrote:

Do rockwarblers and pine thrush eggs hatch into chickens and hawks too? Their nests are all over the province, in houses as food, etc. But I've NEVER seen one solitary example of either bird . . . . .

Re: Skyrim mysteries
My theory is that perhaps her mother underwent the ritual with Molag Bal before she did. Serana is pretty sarcastic, so she may have been joking about being a little vampire girl...BUT, she is also thousands of years old so even though physically she is the same age, she could be looking back at herself as a little girl. *shrugs*

that's actually how they form in the first place>_> but they need to be in freezing conditions still and melt due to sunlight
Problem is, they would keep growing rather than stay in place. Nature in general just doesn't make any sense in elder scrolls
