Grand Theft Auto IV Boring?
I got Grand Theft Auto IV one week after it came out and i completed all the missions a few weeks after... Going around and shooting people isn't the same any more. Not to long ago i was playing San Andreas and killing people was fun! i even played GTA III liberty city and it was fun!!!
I know in GTA IV you can go do stuff with your friends. I know you can use computers and watch TV but thats just boring now!
I would rather sit in my room playing Pokemon then play GTA IV now!
tell me why it's boring now?

Oh God... wait till Tourist sees this.
But it is boring, I played about 5 minutes of it and realised that, it just seems so... normal.
I think it's boring because it's basically the same game as the last one,
nothing new or different. But that's just me.
Edit: Btw, Gray Box, have you got XBL? If so then you can join the UESP leaderboard if you give ace your GT.
Edit: Forgot to tell you how to tell him.
Just go to the thread "Official Clan of UESP 360ers" and post your GT, but you have to have a MGC account.

Within one week I was wanting to go back to Mass Effect and Vegas 2.
Within two weeks GTAIV was sitting on the shelf being ignored, in favour of two games I'd completed numerous times yet still had so much more to offer.
Sluggish controls, a still useless combat system, yet another damnable virtual New York, and a camera which is either too close or too far away make the entire experience just feel... wrong. The career-ending knockout blow for IV comes in this left-right combo: 1) less humour, 2) identical mission structure for the past DECADE.
Don't get me wrong, I admire the game for its ambition and scope (Liberty's very own Times Square is easily one of the most impressive sights I've ever seen in any game) - but it has absolutely no soul. I'm on the verge of trading it in for Lost Odyssey, and I've only unlocked the third island. Yet I feel no compulsion to back to Libery. That says it all.

Ill admit the series went totally downhill after San Andreas.
It's like they went backwards. Liberty City Stories I thought was one of the most boring games in existence. Though I disagree that the combat system was crap in GTA: IV. I thought it was really good IMHO. The handling of the cars was also very....umm....hard? Difficult?
I also thought it was a bit more than just coincidence that all the game websites gave GTA 4 full marks
Like Gamespot gave it 10/10
And I think IGN gave it full marks aswell.

^Absolutely; it bugged me that even some typically cynical review sources gave the game 9/10 or the full whack. My overall feeling from IV was not of 'awe' but 'deja vu'.
As for the combat; it may have been slightly improved, but there were still far too many times - particularly indoors - that the lock on system was more hassle than it was worth. And outdoors, there was STILL the age-old 'hey! why did I just put half a clip into a homeless guy?! and why is the cop/crim still shooting at me!'.
But the driving I liked; I was just massively, seriously disappointed they didn't implement the full in-car camera that was featured in the trailers. And to take away the user-radio option? THAT was the final insult (yes you can use the Guide button to listen to music from your HDD, but it's not the same as a user-radio with in-game adds and wotnot). I've been used to that function since GTAIII on the Xbox, and they take it out for IV, the most technologically advanced GTA? Pathetic. That made me:

How is it any different from Oblivion?Vargon wrote:I dislike the general morality of the series. The DB missions are the same as that when you break it down.

I was disappointed that they took out the ability to smash cars with bats. Now you can only use bats on people, which is much less fun.
The custom radio thing being removed sucks. But maybe they'll put it back in in the PC version.
The multiplayer would be cooler if I knew more people that had it - it's limited to people who have both a 360 and pay for Xbox Live. Multiplayer on PC will be better. Because practically everyone I know has a computer, and I'll be able to do multiplayer with people who aren't 13 year olds in Iowa.
It also sucks that you get all this money but you can't buy cars or assets or anything.
Hopefully, the PC version will be moddable.
For the record: I don't have GTA4 because I don't have an Xbox - but I've played it a good amount at friends' houses.

Help? Help with what? They don't make a cure for stupid. You'll just have to play through the game all over again. - Butterknife

I've got to admit that I was one of the GTA:IV bandwagoners. Initially it seemed to live up to all the hype surrounding it. After a few weeks, though, it's kind of lost its luster for me. While the lack of a personal playlist is saddening, it's not as much of a hindrance as it seems to be to others. What is annoying is the targeting system. I can't even count how many times I ended up switching to freetarget because the stupid lock on was ruining the angle or flat out refused to target the person I wanted.
And the whole keeping your friends happy thing is just so old now. Just as others have said, one of my favorite things to do in GTA was just drive around for hours on end and checking out the sights in the city. Now it seems like every 20 minutes I'm getting calls from my needy "buddies" begging for some fun. If only I could introduce them to each other and be done with them. Even with the option turned off I found that I was losing influence with them but not receiving notification of it.
It was fun in the beginning, but then I got Mass Effect... and now I found a pristine copy of Knight of the Old Republic (part 1) for the Xbox... Needless to say, I don't think I'll be spending time in Liberty City for a while.

I'm kind of obsessive about music, and I even ripped some of my own tracks to the Xbox's drive; so the choice between mournful/cool Chet Baker (or Tony Bennet) just as you're about to be betrayed in a (rainy) GTAIII-Liberty, U.N.K.L.E., or my own stuff, was a big draw. III, Vice, and SA all had extensive custom playlists I created. So its exclusion put me in a bad mindset straight away, as that was the first thing I looked for.Logius wrote:While the lack of a personal playlist is saddening, it's not as much of a hindrance as it seems to be to others...
...Even with the option turned off I found that I was losing influence with them but not receiving notification of it.
And the simpering 'why won't you play with me?!' attitude of all Neko's friends just drove me nuts.
As for Mass Effect and KOTOR - both of those games are entire universes better than GTAIV. I actually recently downloaded the free extra content for KOTOR, as I was Live-free for the Xbox 1, so I have a few shiny new things in that uber-masterpiece to discover. Plus, I still haven't gotten around to the Mass Effect DLC, Bring Down The Sky, yet.
GTA's Morality
It is, after all, just a game - and under 18's shouldn't be playing it anyhow (especially if their parents actually bought it, that's just dodgy parenting).
Lowbart; yup, smashing up cars with a baseball bat was an SA highlight. Actually, driving a chainsaw through someones windshield - as you stood ontop of their hood - was always more entertaining...

The GTA series isn't for children. Look at the box, the advertisements, etc. It's rated M for mature, which here in America means you're not even supposed to be able to purchase it unless you are seventeen or older. So my question is why was that child playing GTA anyway? That's some bad parenting.Vargon wrote:I dislike the general morality of the series. GTA4 is fine, you can push people off ledges and down stares, kill anyone and everyone, and just have a great time, to me, it is the best GTA to date, meaning ever, It's character easily steals badass of the year from the competition, and who could forget the memorable cast. Cause I'm VIP baby(a quote).

Not a lot of kids are going to be playing gta4 in the first place.Vargon wrote:Yes, but in real life a child would be influenced more by a gun, a commonly used object in the streets than a daedric dagger of storms. Anyway, in oblivion, you can turn off blood, I think.

Well sure I mean most people who are going to be playing grand theft auto IIII are going to be "amused" by those scenes and maybe try to look through the window of the car but if that's all you do then... well I don't knowThe King wrote:I find the prostitute pick up scenes to be very amusing,![]()

Wow! I don't look through the car, how pervy do you think I am, no, I found it amusing that just by honking you can pick one up, though I still think the whole, car rocking is creepy.Anyways, that's not I how I do most of my time, I like/love pushing people down stairs, it's just so fun.Daedricmudcrab wrote:Well sure I mean most people who are going to be playing grand theft auto IIII are going to be "amused" by those scenes and maybe try to look through the window of the car but if that's all you do then... well I don't knowThe King wrote:I find the prostitute pick up scenes to be very amusing,![]()

This is what ive been saying from the beginning. When i first saw it at my friends house i asked whats different about the game. His answer was the fps. That an a bunch of other bs that added up to nothing.
Call me cheap but im not gonna go out and spend $60 for a game thats pretty much the same as the others. Ill admit its cool how you can wreck and go flying through the windshield, thats funny to me. That and theres a few other nifty little things. But im not gonna spend that much money on that. Id rather spend it elsewhere.
For instance, instead of going to the pool hall in the virtual world with virtual friends ill go to the real one with real friends.
That, or gas. It costs me over $60 to fill up my truck.

I agree. I found GTA IV the EASIET and the most BORING of all the GTA's. I'd have to say GTA III was probably the best but thats one mans humble opinion
. Although I must admit I did like most of the cast in GTA IV aside from that the driving was horrible at start till you got used to actually driving like an everyday person vs a NASCAR driver, the combat system wasn't anything new or impressive and I found the counter aspect of it a little trick other then that it was a decent title, nothing to impressive but not that bad.

I do have to admit, alot of little kids play sometimes when i go to a video game store i see little kids buying it saying "My friend plays it" that's how most kids get it.ironmaiden83 wrote:The GTA series isn't for children. Once on another fourm someone said he went to EB Games and saw a kid who goes up to his Mom with GTA IV and his mom says "I heard about this game and it says it is really violent" and she takes the game away and then the kid whines and says "YEAH BUT MY WHEN I WENT OVER TO JACKS HOUSE HE PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE IT!!!) and then the shopkeeper grabs mario kart and says "How about you play this? and then the kid swipes it on the floor and says "I DON'T WANT STUPID MARIO KART AND ANYWAY I DON"T EVEN HAVE A Wii STUPID!!!)
I cracked my self laughing but felt bad for the shopkeeper so this tells you what GTA IV does to childrens minds (Im just thinking of a little kid watching a hooker having sex

The only thing I really like is speeding down the highway, on the opposite side of the road, hitting motorcyclists and making them fly. I pretty much just like driving around in the cars. I just go to my friends house and play it. It really isn't worth 60 bucks. I don't see why it got such good ratings from all the online and magazine reviewers.
