Re: No More DLC?
So let me get this straight. Bethesda releases a half finished game, and then bows out early on DLC? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Skyrim. I however, didn't enjoy it anywhere near to how much I enjoyed Oblivion. Skyrim visually was awesome, and movement and everything was better, but it without a doubt was rushed. The quests and stories, and guilds (everything I loved about Oblivion) felt empty, half done, and rushed. I lived with this however, because I was told by Bethesda that there was going to be never before seen support with DLC. They released Dawnguard suprisingly quickly, and I enjoyed it a little. However, now that I've played it twice, I have no further desire to experience it again. Then they release this "DLC" called hearthfire. It was OK, and thats a stretch. Essentially it makes you grind getting money and supllies so you can build a house, but its really not as customizable as its made out to be, you have probably ten different options of what you're house will look like, but thats enough on that. Dragon Born was released, and was much like the main quest rushed, however, if you enjoyed Morrowind it was a little nostalgic. I think they made Solstheim look to ruggid and Skyrimish however. 3 DLC's, 3? I am very dissapointed with Bethesda on this. I really hope when they do TES 6 they remember why people loved elder scrolls and stop trying to dumb down their games for john doe gamer.

You obviously don't get the joke/reference. I'm well over 1000 hours but I still have some issues with the game. It's good, it's just disappointing.

Re: No More DLC?
To be honest, I'm fine if that's it.. I have over 1000 hours in and still play everyday, still post gameplay on the net... I have major issues with the game, I think it's soft, repetitive, and short... I've done 95% of the quest and all dlc, yet I'm still playing... As much as I loved Morrowind and oblivion I love skyrim jes as much.. I still play oblivion.. Sparingly.. But after all that, I'm fine. Time to play fallout. I'm so ready for fallout cuz skyrim is tired. If they have another dlc cool if they don't and release fallout instead I'm super happy.. Either way I still love the game and will continue to play it for years to come until the next TES then it will be shelved.. Probably wont play it like I play oblivion or Morrowind after the next TES drop but until then its still my most played game.. I think the last dlc was the end, that's it and it played out like the regular game should have played on top of the whole dragon alduin deal.. But it was a good dlc, not as big as SI but close with lots to do.. What I'm trying to say is I'm ok with no more dlc, not every game is gonna be lore friendly for everybody, things don't end like you want them too or the way they should have. It ended fine. Let's face it Morrowind had the best story, oblivion had all the fixings and skyrim had the best gameplay. Let's put all that together and make a new one, they have all the info they need, fingers crossed for co-op... I jes hope TES online isn't it because I'm not buying a 2000$ desktop to play a 50$ game..

disappointing to the max
i have 260ish hours on my main hero, i am doing the civil war quest with him next having completed the dlc and other stuff that is "in character" for him, then he is retiring cos it's finished - this open ended game is finished for that character. Unless he wants to camp outside the Thalmor embassy and duff up random Altmer
and retiring - not knowing what happened after the story so carefully and effectively set up the Thalmor as the Next Enemy.
What is their master plan, we have had exhaustive discussions on this forum about exactly what they are up to - because we expected this to become apparent in dlc. How many people in the Empire like general Tullius, had their own ideas to share on the subject of the Thalmor running the empire?
that's the source of the vexation
my anger is not a lack of respect for them or TES, it is rooted in disappointment at having this wonderful game ended before its finished
they will no doubt explain the situation when things have cooled down, and i hope they dont try and tell us "there was never going to be another big dlc like DB or SI, just a couple of medium sized ones" cos that would be annoying. And i believe their explanation will probably be reasonable and not their fault etc but right now it's

naiive as this sounds, this news has shifted my perception of "TES largely as labour of love" to "TES primarily as money maker" and that's not good news for Mattbot the fanboy
i have always supported the commercial decisions made resulting in the production of more accessible games.. cos until now it didn't seem to be impacting on the quality of ongoing support, inc dlc

Re: No More DLC?
yup, same here, i had always thought of Bethesda as one of those companies that makes games for the sake of the games, and that it just had an evil corporate part. but after skyrim, they gave me the feeling of the company thats just out for cash, the whole lot of it.

Re: No More DLC?
What did they do that is so bad? They have supported the game long after it's release, with free patches, showing they are not "just out for cash". The majority of the users here on this board have at least 200 hours logged in Skyrim, I myself have over 500, and we got all this entertainment for $40-100 depending on where, when and how you bough the game. Compare this to other games of the same price. Maybe 15 hours. 20 if we're lucky. If they were "just out for cash" we would have a main quest, civil war and only be able to play nord. Yes, Skyrim reduced elements from previous games, but it also expanded others. The addition of perks, shield bash, a decent sneak mechanic and followers have all, in my opinion, improved on the TES formula.
On the whole Thalmor needs to be resolved thing, I am glad they weren't destroyed in some DLC, leaving the field open for TES VI to have a MQ full of Thalmor oppression, rebellion and their eventual destruction at the hands of a new hero.

Re: No More DLC?
they released patches to fix things that wouldnt have been broken in the first place if they had focused more on making a less buggy game. i logged 200+ hours, but i could have finished with it in a lot less time if not for Skyrims bugs, because of them i was forced to start over twice to acheive my goals ingame. my mum bought me my copy on my birthday for 60£.
there are plenty of games that only had 15 to 20 hours of gameplay that i enjoyed more than anything in Skyrim, so dont be so hard on them

While i am disappointed in no more dlc, and slightly disappointed by the dlc thats already out, everyone does have http://enderal.de/?lang=en to look forward to. If its anywhere near as good as Nehrim was, it will be EXCELLENT.

Re: No More DLC?
I must say, I am disappointed by this. I wanted one more DLC for the Thalmor. The DLC they released wasn't all that good. They released two actual DLC, and a little house building one. I expected more from them. They did say Bethesda will make more of a splash in gaming this year. We will see what happens.

Re: No More DLC?
I've played Skyrim for roughly 500 hours. I paid about 100 dollars for it, including the DLC. That's a good 5 hours of entertainment for a dollar. By comparison, most movie theatres where I live charge about ten dollars for, at most, three hours of entertainment; and I can't mod a movie to my taste. If Skyrim were priced like a movie, I'd have paid at least 1,600 dollars for the sheer time I spent with it. And you know what? Knowing what I got out of this game, I'd seriously consider paying that price if I had that kind of money. Skyrim was cheap as heck for the entertainment value. So, I don't believe for one second that a single one of you both played Skyrim for hundreds of hours and didn't get your money's worth.

Ummm, I think we're treading on thin ice when we compare playing a video game to going to a movie theater. I see it more like buying a book. You own it, and you can reread it as often as pleases you.

Re: No More DLC?
This just upsets me everytime I read it. Because it means they added the legendary skills and difficulty as a way to extend gameplay and not for a legitimate reason like adding a new skill or required level quest. Borderlands 2 is still going strong with dlc. That's ridiculous. A rpg shooter lasted longer than an open world fantasy game.

@Evil-i: Okay, then DVD purchases, which are usually even more expensive than a theatre ticket, and (at least with my viewing habits) usually yield maybe four or five viewings at most. Still doesn't come close to 500 hours for 100 dollars.
