I'm happy with this, I want them to start working on their next title, the sooner they can ramp up production for the next ES

I can assure you that we won't run into a canonized Dragonborn. The most we'll get is a rumour of his demise.Chaos the N'wah wrote:I'm happy with this, I want them to start working on their next title, the sooner they can ramp up production for the next ESSpoiler:

Re: No More DLC?
I'm okay with this. Sure it would be great to have more DLC, but it is a year and a half after Skyrim was released and there comes a time when developers must stop supporting a game. Besides I only just bought the three DLCs for my PS3, so plenty of content left for me.

Re: No More DLC?
I don't know, I am fine with not another huge dlc like dawnguard or dragonborn, but still... even if just a few want to still make small independent dlc's like in oblivion. Hearthfire was based on a mod>_> though it ended up with alot less customization and hassle. Still though, why the absolute? I sure would pay money for a player home featured in a underground nordic ruin
or even small additions featuring small quests or artifact.
On the side, I'm fine with where the story leaves off, so long as they address it in the next installment. Civil war ends, dragonborn unites, does a few battles, then leaves north never to be heard from again>_> like somebody else we know.. I just hope lore wise Parthy doesn't have to die.. stupid blades...

Re: No More DLC?
Because Bethesda suggested that they would do more DLC that tended towards 'Expansion Pack' territory than ever before and less 'Horse Armour' DLC.Belthazor wrote:Honestly, it would have surprised me if there had been any more DLCs for Skyrim. I was already surprised that so many people expected that there will be more. Morrowind had 2 big ones (Tribunal & Bloodmoon). Oblivion had 2 big ones (Knights of the Nine & Shivering Isles). Why should Skyrim get more than 2?
@Mattbott:
I don't see any justification in being [&@%!] off with them. At least not about DLC content or lack thereof. A SI scale DLC? Have you played Dragonborn? There you go.
Now, let's wait another 3-4 years and hope the next TES game will be more of an RPG again than Skyrim was. I'm not getting my hopes up, though.

Re: No More DLC?
I don't care for skyrim in all honesty, BUT you have to admit, this was not bad on DLC. In oblivion didn't you have to pay separately for each stronghold which amounted to nothing but a really cool house basically? I mean literally adding nothing that mods had not done already.
I admit, I never did Knights of the Nine, but I'm assuming its around equal to Dawnguard. I hated dawnguard, couldnt force myself to finish either side once I got my C-bow, but I know a lot of people actually liked it somehow.
Then we got hearthfire which gave us same lame houses, but I have to give it props (even though it was rushed and we should have been able to choose which things to build on which side, I wanted a trophy room and an extended outdoor deck damnit!) but unlinke oblivions Strongholds, it actually added it reason to pick them over the cooler modded houses. Bandit attacks, children.
And then we have Dragonborn, which I have not finished so I can't judge but, it actually seems pretty good. Loved the confusion when I first got there and took a nap at the inn, omgwtf.
and it ended up like all my previous attempts to beat SI, always started, never had the follow through.
So if the quality was lesser, its still around close enough.
I will let them go for not giving us more if for nothing else than the fact that I don't think their capable of implementing it onto the PS3 even if they did make more. at the very least DB is going to advance Morrowsky ten fold.

Re: No More DLC?
i think youre right, ps3 probs or maybe delays in making 360 dlc kinect compatible (something toddster mentioned in his interview with notch)House of the Wolf wrote:Argh! I bet you they had [&@%!] planned, but the issue with the [&@%!] PS3 caused them all to go and suck their thumbs afterwards.
imo they intended dlc and it fell through with the next gen round the corner
annoyed as i am about not having another dragonborn (or dare i say it SI) sized chunk of dlc, i think the game is incomplete without some resolution to the Thalmor issue
@kryptonblood dragonborn is excellent, i have played maybe 15+ hours on it and there is still more, and tbh another similar sized dlc would have probably made Skyrim equal to full version console Oblivion for me
this puts legendary skills into perspective for me now, get longevity into the game by removing the level cap - imo they felt it a necessary part of 1.9 patch cos the expectation was there for more dlc
lol the final dlc (albeit unconfirmed) was the biggest gaming thing i was looking forward to this year (along with GTA5 a close second) and this is the source fo my disappointment. I will get over it but i no longer take it for granted TES will exceed my expectations in future, and that's what this is about

Re: No More DLC?
I'm pretty disappointed, to be honest. I figured the game could do with- indeed needed- one more DLC to round it off.
Oh, well. Looks like it's back to building an uber-PC then rebuilding Vvardenfell. Sigh.

There already is fan project that is revamping morrowind. It's not just improved graphics, but a complete overhaul. Maybe even fix alot of the issues and provide support mods/added content

Re: No More DLC?
Beth has a way of not really saying anything concrete and definitive in their announcements. After reading that piece, you could say, with just as much justification for either side, that there either is or there isn't another DLC to come.
I do love their mastery of telling us that 2 + 2 = 5, though:
"Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed."
Wow. Kinda disturbing to see a developer who publicly states that things that they've built which have been broken since Day One are worthy of nothing more than "minor updates, as needed." Wake up Bethesda! Fixing the broken game you released a year and a half ago should be your #1 priority, right now and for however long it takes.
"We loved hearing your stories, your in-game triumphs, and your suggestions. One thing stuck out to us through those emails, letters, and postings. And that is – video games matter."
What the hell? No, Bethesda, no. Go back and reread those emails, letters, and postings. The one thing that should have stuck with you is that you really need to develop some robust Quality Assurance.

@Evil-i
The post was updated. Bethesda confirmed there is absolutely, definitely, not a new DLC coming.

Re: No More DLC?
I'm now going to have to think about if I am even going to get the next TES, if its going to be treated the same way as skyrim. In truth, I am extremely dissapointed with Bethesda because of this. skyrim was, and is, a great game, but after a year and a half, it is still extremely bug ridden. Heck, my unpatched version of Oblivion isn't as buggy as skyrim.

Re: No More DLC?
That's not a far comparison, considering that Skyrim is way more advance on the same system. If it was next gen, maybe. But it isn't.

Re: No More DLC?
Fine, I'll give you that. But I still think its foolish stop the dlc when it reaches the same number that we had in Oblivion. Think about it- Dawnguard=KOTN, DB=SI, and HF= all of the small house dlc's that we got. Maybe its just me, but its seems like you should strive to do more than what you did previously. That seems to be the only way you improve yourself and your products.Br3admax wrote:That's not a far comparison, considering that Skyrim is way more advance on the same system. Re: No More DLC?
Although i am dissapointed that bethesda are no longer building new content for skyrim, I am happy with everything they have added. I would have liked maybe one more DLC package to add things that have kinda been wanted/needed from the beginning like horse armors without using mods, I assume the dev team behind skyrim are mostly on ESonline now.

Lets dial down on the words okay?
While on subject, we may get lucky if independent groups develope dlc/mods with the seal of approval. Rare it is, but some fanmade stuff has made it to expansion packs or dlc

Re: No More DLC?
I'm sad that we're not getting the opportunity to deal with the Thalmor menace. But maybe that's too big an undertaking for DLC? Maybe it would require a canon High King, which could then negate the choices that players have made during the Civil War quests. (Personally, my vote has always been for High King Balgruuf, but there we have it).
I would be quite, quite happy to have the Thalmor at the heart of ES VI. Getting rid of the [&@%!] - or choosing to join them, if you are of an appropriate race?
Given that I still haven't finished Oblivion (Arena + Dark Brotherhood + Shivering Isles Main Quest, all untouched), and have the Dark Brotherhood, Civil War, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn to do in Skyrim, I'm not short of ES games to play. And for those who are, there is this MMO coming out soon. If that doesn't appeal, why not go even further back in time and try Morrowind - a friend of mine just played that for the first time. Failing that, there are other game series!
