Re: Bioshock
I'm not looking forward to doing that on 1999 mode. Hell, I hardly passed it on Normal, and I was using Shock Jockey and the carbine. Until the carbine ran out and I had to use a sniper rifle.

Just finished 1999 mode. One and a half Carbine round to the gears will destroy those pesky Patriots in a jiffy.

I did hard the first time around, And boy, was it awful.
The patriots themselves weren't that bad. The men barely a threat, since I had crows maxed.
I died a few times when a random RPG man showed up though.

Re: Bioshock
The worst was the grenade guy. The one you get Devil's Kiss from? He was the mini-boss who showed up the most and he made cover practically worthless. My shield barely had time to recharge before he'd be spamming me again. Thankfully I found a piece of gear that made my shield recharge almost instantly and it made him a bit easier to handle.
I've been trying to play other games this week to take my mind off Bioshock. (On Monday I even went into London but Forbidden Planet - which is like our version of a comic book store - had a whole window display for the game so it didn't do much to help.) But I can't get the songs out of my head. I'll be flying along in Planetside 2 or whatever and suddenly I'll catch myself humming Will the Circle Be Unbroken, or wondering which part of the barbershop quartet I'd be if we ever sung God Only Knows. And then I'll get distracted and killed.
Help me.

Started playing a few days ago and am noticing a "baptism motif" that I find interesting:
Does the game do ANY auto-kills on Booker that are NOT baptism motif related? Just curious, I will soon find out...

Oh geez.
You are right on the money.
It doesn't happen all the time obviously, but you aren't imaginig the baptism theme. It occurs from time to time.

Re: Bioshock
So he was just randomly asking you if you were afraid of god? Ok ...
As for the baptism thing, it's there, but it's not meant to be taken literally. One of the game's artists apparently quit because he thought the game was being anti-religious. I think it's just not for ignorant people.

The baptism motif shows up figuratively and literally it seems. The whole "rebirth" is an essential part of the game, so baptism is interesting I find. Haven't come across anything really anti-religion per se so far.

The baptism motif has happened EVERY time for me so far. From starting the game on a floating boat to waking up on the beach at Battle Ship Bay - my current location. Being reborn / restarted after a GAME generated AUTO-"kill" is what I am refering to...Generalno1 wrote:Oh geez.

Is there a Game Generated auto-"kill" that is NOT baptism motif related? You can let me know in a spoiler - I don't mind. Just curious, I will find out as I play...

Handy men.
I think I only took one down without dying on the zeppelin.
though then again, I killed the last 2 by air strike.
Which looks awesome.

Re: Bioshock
The gameplay itself in Infinite is a step down from Bioshock in my opinion. It isn't bad it just isn't as good as Bioshock. I've heard it said that System Shock 2 is an Action RPG and that Bioshock is an action game with RPG bits. If that is true than Infinite is really just a shooter. I do prefer Bioshock over Infinite.

Re: Bioshock
The only differences I found with the gameplay between the two was having Salts refill automatically instead of having to have an Eve hypo; hacking turrets and locks; and the secondary action of the Vigors. Other than that it was pretty much the same experience,

Re: Bioshock
And you can only have two weapons at once, which calls for strategy and specialization. And vigors and firearms have different buttons so you don't have to do the annoying switch like in the first game.

Re: Bioshock
It is more linear like your normal shooter. I would recommend to anyone that they play Bioshock on Survivor with Vita Chambers off. You really have to think out your battles in that and you feel yourself grow in power. You really have to use all the tactics and everything you know to survive. At first 3 shots will kill you but later you can really stand on your own an dish out punishment. It is challenging but great fun.
In Bioshock there were splicers, daddies and security systems. You could make all 3 play off each other. Hypnotise daddies to fight splicers or hack turrets to help you out. The weapons and plasmids were all different enough and felt different. Each had different ammo types. In Infinite all the vigors can lay traps and I found myself playing with the environment less and being less creative. No setting a foe on fire so he would run into water where I could zap him. In Bioshock you could sneak around, turn invisible and shoot people in the head with a well placed crossbow bolt. Or you could shoot lightning at fools and blast them with a shotgun. Daddies were battle you had to plan for in advance and do when you were ready. Handy Men appear when the designers think you should fight one. With only being allowed take two guns I didn't want to experiment, I wanted to keep my RPG and Shotgun/Hand Cannon because that worked. If I dropped my Hand Cannon I might not get one for ages. And I can't drop the RPG in case a Handy Man shows up. The areas are less open, you don't really explore them anymore. Now you just more from place to place shooting everything that gets in your way. This isn't to say it is bad, but I prefer what Bioshock did.
