My undergrad alma mater has been in the news lately, and it's really distressing how much it's torn up the community. It wasn't a good thing for sure and just reminds me how much I hate the business that is college sports.

Someone went to the media about a video that showed the men's basketball coach verbally and physically abusing players - calling them profanities and throwing things at them. Apparently he did so because he was upset the university chose only to give this man a three game suspension and that he was still serving as head coach. After it went viral, of course, the university fired the coach and the athletic director resigned, as of today.

But the real thing that gets me is how people are just putting the blame on everyone but the coach. My one friend even said that "Well, it's Division 1 sports [that's the top of college sports in America, mind], so they have to be used to tough things. If they weren't such awful players the coach wouldn't have done that." Like, seriously, are you for real? How can you blame the players for a guy who treats them like trash?

Edit: The video was released in November to the university officials, mind. That's why this "whistle blower" went to the media. He was surprised they sat on it for so long with what he deemed incorrect action. He was also released from his contract, but honestly I don't think that's even the point, that he wants to "get back." The point is this coach was a jerk.

Hurt by pie. That's incredibly sad. Pie should only bring joy but I do understand the rush to want to eat it.
