game path question
I hope people are still looking at this forum- there hasen't been a post in awhile.
Anyways, I was wondering which path in Morrowind GOTY is the best to take.
Keeping in mind that I cant be a vampire and a werewolf, what is better- being a human in Bloodmoon so that I can be a Vampire in the main game, or giving up Vampirism to be a werewolf in Bloodmoon.
Are the vampire quests really hard?
BTW, IS it possible by some crazy flaw to play both Human and Werewolf in Bloodmoon? I play GOTY on XBOX

BTW
I had one more question---
I am part of temple, and as you know the first quest from Endrythen L. (excuse my horrible butchering of that name) is to convince T. Veloth to leave Vivec. I decided that she wasn't important and i wanted to taunt her into attacking. However, after like 5 min. of trying, i gave up and went out of Arena. When I returned several days later, she was gone! The problem, is I still have to convince her to leave. How am i supposed to do that?

Given that they weren't there during the massacre, they shouldn't be affected. You can't kill what isn't there afterall.Jake_060 wrote:I'm currently playing morrowind (not game of the year edition) on xbox and i went on a massacre of ebonheart and killed alot of ppl in the grand council chambers and i was wondering if the 2 people that u need to talk to to get to mournhold appear as new characters in the expansion or if i need to start a new game
Of course, if you have screwed up at all in the main game in your bloodlust frenzy you won't get far in Mournhold.
You must surely have a file. It can't be possible to massacre everyone in Ebonheart - a station of able and powerful warriors and wizards - without having gotten somewhere in the game, and progress would surely require you to save at least one file?Jake_060 wrote:i payed off my bounty it came to 4750 septims but i dont have a file from before my massacre
Still, you did the deed, now you pay the price. Well you did pay the price already but...meh. Anyway, yeah, it should be fine. I doubt Asciene Rane will even be aware of what's happened. At most she'll wonder why the walls are red.
In order of questions asked:JMWilliams wrote:Keeping in mind that I cant be a vampire and a werewolf, what is better- being a human in Bloodmoon so that I can be a Vampire in the main game, or giving up Vampirism to be a werewolf in Bloodmoon.

1) It depends what you prefer. Vampires have a horrible weakness to daylight, which I find a pain because seeing in the dark is something I detest. And it's more fun during the day. However their strength is pretty nice and they do have the ability to feed off the health of enemies. If you're into energy-sapping mayhem, vampires are for you.
Werewolves on the other hand are a bit more complicated. When you become a werewolf you essentially give up the right to be a normal citizen, whereas vampires are hated but can lead a relatively normal life, just one of persecution and snobbery (and the occasional mauling). When you become a werewolf you transform, as I'm sure you know, into a werewolf at night. This grants you speed unlike anything else and power to boot, however without advancing in Hircine's missions (he becomes your deity and gives you missions through visions which come with nice cutscenes ^_^) I find that being a werewolf isn't much fun. If you advance but ensure you don't get to the hunt then you can become a strong werewolf. The problem with the lycanthropes is that if you're caught transforming from man to wolf or vice versa everyone will know who you are and you become outcasted (unlike the vampire). But taking on the guards isn't difficult, assuming of course you're strong (you'd have to be to get that far surely).
Personally I found werewolf(ism?) fun for a time but eventually got bored of transforming from wolf to naked man at dawn and having my health sapped for not feeding. Vampirism is fun but again only for a time. I find living as either permanently holds little in terms of depth. You can't really do much more as either.
If you want to gain access to some nice inventory and try to suck Vvardenfell's residents dry of life then go with being a vampire. If you want to step into a whole other world, become the mortal enemy of the Nords and Hircine's right hand then go with being a werewolf. If neither suits you stick to being a mortal man. I avoid vampirism most of the time, and only turn into a werewolf if I'm really bored. Or tired of the Nords.
Even after you're cured you can return to the form of the wolf. If you play the main game in Bloodmoon you inherit Tharsten Heart-Fang's Hircine's Ring which turns you into a werewolf if you so desire. I don't know how far you've gotten in the game or what you know so I won't say much more. So you could effectively complete the werewolf missions, get cured and return to the form without the problems being a common werewolf brings. In theory. It's been a while since I played that account. I know I was restored to my wolf form but I don't recall what effects it had on the world, whether people will attack me in human form if they see me transform, whether you turn at dusk everyday again, etc.
2) Some of the missions are. Some aren't. It depends on the clan you choose and your general character. It's quite interesting to see Vvardenfell from their vantage though. Personally I don't think the vampire quests are any more difficult than other missions; it's down to who you are and how you play. They're certainly not as hard as Almalexia's later missions.
Just noticed this question. >_<JMWilliams wrote:BTW, IS it possible by some crazy flaw to play both Human and Werewolf in Bloodmoon? I play GOTY on XBOX
When you're a werewolf you essentially do both. You play a human by day and a lycanthrope by night. I don't think you can be a normal human and a werewolf. That would be a flaw that defies the very engine. o_O
On Xbox you'll probably have to reload the last save. There is another alternative, one I don't know of being tried and tested on Xbox, and this is purely theory so I don't know at all if it would work, but you could go to Tel Fyr, where the Corpusium is. If you go down that path, when you convince Tanusea Veloth to leave she goes there after she disappears. You could travel there and see if she's perhaps there. If she is see what happens when you speak with her, it might update it. If not, she is probably gone for good.JMWilliams wrote:I am part of temple, and as you know the first quest from Endrythen L. Killing the poor woman, tsk tsk, not very Temple like. What would the Almsivi say?
Well Vivec would probably come up with some anecdote that renders the action futile, Almalexia would cackle wildly and Sotha Sil would...well, be Sotha Sil.
*Moo recalls his days in the Temple and the butchering he did.
This is perhaps something of an obscure question but maybe someone knows. East of Ghostgate, directly in the Foyada (I don't know this one's particular name but it's straight over the eastern hills) lies a small Sixth House cavern called Sherapli with something marked the "Pool of Forgetfulness" inside in the chamber furthest to the back. I clicked on it but to no avail and I find no mention of it anywhere on UESP (missions, books, etc.). Have any other heroic wanderers (or cowardly runaway if you're looking for accuracy) stumbled across it? If so does anyone know what purpose it serves? The cave itself is pretty small and is comprised mostly of Dreamers (who have an unusually fast reaction I might add; seems I breathe and they know I'm there) and doesn't contain anything of importance, just this strange stream of water pouring out from a vent into a small pool, which is odd in itself given that it's the ashlands where water is virtually non-existant inland let alone inside what is essentially the walls of Red Mountain.
I play on the Xbox so I don't have any co-ordinates but it's directly east of the Tower of Dusk. Levitate and you'll find it quite easily. It's not that well hidden, it looks like every other cavern on the side of an ashland mountain but it's taken me until now to find it (by accident, fleeing from a flock of cliff racers, ashamedly). I've seen no references to it anywhere. It's odd. The UESP map confirms it exists but I run up and down the Foyadas as if I was Dagoth Ur's PA and never before have I seen it. Just wondered if any veterns know what the things about.

I keep hearing from People in Ebonhart about "unrest in cyrodill city". I was just curious if this had anything to do with a quest in Vvardenfell or in either of the expansion packs.
I play GOTY.

OK, I was just fighting a necromancer in some cave, and she cast a spell on me, and all of the sudden the amount of stuff I could carry went down by like 50 pounds. It's been several days (in the game) and the effect seems permanent. It doesnt really seem fair, because I had to sell some decent armor so that I could be able to walk again.
Is there any way to get my 50 lbs of carrying ability back?

Yes. You will have to kill the Skaal leader one way or another: as a wolf he attacks you, as a man (i.e. you got cured and helped the Skaal) he will only go so far with you and reveal his "true nature" (he uses the ring). Kill him and voila, one wolf transforming ring.JMWilliams wrote:do you get that ring that lets you go back and forth either way?
Item-wise it doesn't matter. You get the same thing as either a human or a wolf, but when you come to fight Hircine at the end you have to choose one of his manifestations, each of which will grant you a different item upon his defeat. See Hircine's Hunt Hunter's Reward section for details on what you get. Other than that, both sides takes you down the same route but from different perspectives. I advise, if you're up for fun, to save after the wolf ambush (before you're told about being infected) and then play one of the paths. Then when you're done, try out the other path. Being a wolf or a Skaal ally is fun and it's really interesting to see it from different perspectives. Better yet, as a werewolf you are spoken to by Hircine through FMVs (similar to what you see when you pick up Moon-and-Star and the opening sequence). He's a fabulous Daedra, he's one of the few how rewards you greatly (by increasing your skills as a werewolf).Which is more fun/gets you better items

Actually I believe this is one of the few glimpses of Oblivion that occur. As you may know the Emperor's sons are assassinated in Oblivion but during the time of the Nerevarine, at least during his tenure in Morrowind, they lived. In Arena the Emperor was replaced by Jagar Tharn and it is believed that the Emperor's sons and heirs to the throne are actually doppelgänger (doubles, probably meant to be similar to how Jagar Tharn pretended to be the Emperor) placed by the Battlemage (it would make sense for him to take the place of the Emperor and have others become his two sons, though Jagar Tharn had no children so who knows). If it was so then their ascension would be illegitimate and Uriel Septim VII is the last in the line of Septims, thus meaning his death would result in the turn of the Elder Council taking control (and it is assumed it is they who are mongering the idea). I don't think we ever found out the truth of the matter, but it's academic either way because they were taken care of - much to the Council's pleasure. Of course they didn't bet on Uriel having an illegitimate son and thus an heir to the throne, hampering their plans to take control. :twisted:valio wrote:well, i believe it's all about tribunal. but i'm not sure though.
In short: it's just another story, it's not related to Morrowind or the mission(s) but the prelude to the story in Oblivion.
Have you tried to Restore Attribute Strength? If you haven't already I'd advise going to Mournhold and doing the quests for the Temple until you get to meet Almalexia. One of the quests involves getting Barilzar's Mazed Band. In return for completing it Almalexia bestows upon you the Power of Almalexia's Light which you can use every 24 hours to restore all Attributes. I find this works wonders. You should still be able to use normal means of Restoring Attributes though but if nothing else is working then that might.JMWilliams wrote:Is there any way to get my 50 lbs of carrying ability back?
Out of curiosity, any idea of where this Necromancer was or her name? I have quite a fair bit of experience with the blasted Dark Sorcerors so I might be able to drill something up on her. Could she have been Telvanni?

are you sure it wasn't a disease of some sort?
well you can do it either by spell or by using potions that restore atributes.
sometimes also certain items are cursed. i found a ruby gem that didnt' stack up along with others and i saw that i have some attributes lowered. well that tipped me off. i threw it away and then restored my attributes.

uh... for that reasons i always have like both curing spells +restore strenght from orc in gnisis (he teaches you while being on imperial cult quest, oyu can choose different also) and pots of restoring other atributes. i remember first time i've played, i went to some ancestral tomb, got cursed a lot and had to sleep for nearly a year to restore my health. so always, always make sure you have something to restore the atributes. even almsivi scroll is worthy.

thanks
thanks for that last tip-- I had a lot of attributes that were not at their fullest because I did not know how to restore the seemingly permanent damage
Well. My thread's still around. As am I, it would seem.
My favoured method of ensuring my attributes are always up is just mark/recall and intervention spells. If you get cursed, use mark, then intervention, heal your attributes, and then recall. I don't really like lugging around potions and scrolls.
But, as Moo says, Almalexia's Light makes any other strategy redundant.

arms of the empire plugin help
I found the guard in Peligad, talked to him and agreed to get his drink in return he would give me the key to the high security area. I went and got his 5 bottles and returned and now when I talk to him there is nothing about the drink in exchange for the key,the key, I've returned with your drink, nothing but regular Imperial guard dialoge. Is there a console comand to fix this. I ran the Testool and it didn't fix the problem. I only have bb,arms of the empire, black queen and clothier mods on. Thank you

You are delivered to the island of morrowind. You have been a prisoner for no apparent reason for most of your life. When you reach morrowind you are told to deliver a message to a man in a city called balmora. This man leads you through the prophecies and the role you are to play in morrowinds history.
Hows that? anyone else have asnything to add?

Just vague enough not to be a spoiler.
