Bioshock

Post by ReeceH »

I had a look and couldn't see a thread for the Bioshock series so I thought I might start one up.

So yeah, the Bioshock series. One of my favourite series of all time. I picked up the newest release; Bioshock Infinite yesterday and I am a few hours into it. Blown away with how the game looks and feels. Combat is really fluid and exciting, and the story really has me excited to get home and find out more.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Is it really that good? I've heard people at my school say it is phenominal, so if thats true, i'll buy it when I get paid. But i've seen some videos, and I am pretty impressed.

The original Bioshock was really good. The sequel was ok, but not as good (imho). I forgot about Infinite coming out. Now I have to buy it.

I still have to play the first one! I bought it on Steam but the sound isn't working for some reason. I actually won Infinite in a giveaway today (!), but I want to play 1 and 2 first.

Inifinite is a separate story from the first two, so it's not like it's a sequel.

Seriously? Another $60 I have to spend on a new release game that I forgot about until it was released because there are so many freaking games I've been waiting for for ages? Well, this one looks like it'll be worth it. Just look at dem reviews.

I would say the best game I have played in a long time.

I'll probably buy it then. Why does Tuesday have to be so far away? :x But anyway, I have heard it is on the same level as Red Dead Redemption, if not better, and RDR is hands down the best game I have played, so I am pretty excited.

Well I am pretty biased to the Bioshock games (which I would say is my favourite series I think), but it really does tick all the boxes for me. Games is really well down (combat is amazing) and the story is out of this world.

Bioshock 1 was good but it felt like the second half fell flat on it's bottom. The second game is excellent and if you get the very good ending, you will end up shedding a few tears. Imo, the second game surpasses the first one. Bioshock Infinite has yet to be judged by me as i've only picked it up. Can i request that we avoid speaking about the 3rd one to avoid the risk of spoilers?

Or we could just pur the spoilers in spoiler tags.

I've still yet to play any of them but if they're as good as people are making then out to be I might pick up Bioshock 1 at the weekend.

I'm playing the first one now. I really dig the atmosphere and the story so far. Pretty creepy, though (not a bad thing).

Get the Rapture edition as you will get both games and i think, with all of the DLC. It's £15 here in the UK so i suspect it's 20 euros over in Belgium.

I loved Bioshock, Bioshock 2 was meh. I don't want to talk about it, it was how not to do a sequel. It isn't that bad, it was okay but it just detracts from the original. Infinite is how to do a sequel, I really liked it.

So I beat Infinite yesterday, and did a second playthrough. There are so many things you realize after playing through it again.

Overall great game, and I really enjoyed playing it.

Dad bought Infinite and I like the look of it so I've reinstalled the first and second Bioshock onto his computer so I can play them while I wait.
Finished Bioshock today WARNING HUGE SPOILER THAT WILL RUIN THE END IF YOU INTEND ON PLAYING THE GAME!
Spoiler:
and was completely shocked by the near ending discovery that Jack is actually a slave being controlled by the code word "Would you kindly"! It's amazing how much you notice Atlas using it once you know what it is.
Absolutely loved the game though, great story line and I'm looking forward to starting the next one tomorrow.

I really did enjoy the first game. The twists along the way make the story really flow and keep you interested IMO.

I just picked up the add-on's for the the two games, and so far I am enjoying them. Considering starting a new Infinite play-through, just to discover more of the incredible storyline.

I've played the first game and it was awesome! I usually don't play modern FPS-games, but I really enjoyed it. I especially liked the setting and atmosphere. I'm planning on buying Infinite as well, after hearing so many good things about it.

Just finished Bioshock Infinite. Several WTF moments. Like seriously. I don't even dare put any of them in spoilers just because they're so good.

If you haven't played the first two, though. Do it. At least the first one. You owe yourself that much. And now days you can probably get both 1&2 for cheap.

I liked the Luteces.

Spoilers about that pair and other plot things:
Spoiler:
They are the same person from two different universes with the female one sounding like Jennifer Hale, seems familiar somehow. Although that particular pair never met. The pair of them are unstuck in time and space, so they can go anywhere in the multiverse with pretty much no effort. That is one hell of a power if you ask me.

I also liked the guy who stole music from the future. The old-tyme versions of songs were very good and I just love the idea.

Holy crap, Rosalind Lutece is Jennifer Hale. I didn't even think to look it up until you said. She does a pretty convincing Brit, if you ask me.

On reflection I think this is shooting up to #4 in the list of my all time favourite games (because nothing will replace Deus Ex, Skyrim or Unreal Tournament). Eat that, Homeworld!

I want to play it again and pick up on all the little bits of foreshadowing but I still need time to cool off. This probably wasn't a game I should have blitzed through in a weekend. I feel like I've been wrung out.
