But seriously, I don't quite understand how you can gush over Skyrim's rich and varied landscape, and then claim that a desert land would be even more spectacular. Just head up to Skyrim's northern snow wastes and imagine them in beige, and then imagine an entire map like that. Yes, deserts have a certain bleak beauty, but I don't think I'd enjoy an entire landscape of starkness.
Oops, typing error. I meant Tundra. Well I chose the desert for one reason. It's majestic. I'm sure vast areas of sand would look pretty cool just like vast areas of snow covered plains. I was hoping they would do something like a mirage. You see something and when you go there it disappears! Not to mention the quick sands, sand storms and oasis that we can find. Don't get me wrong forests are good when you have a birds eye view. But when you're inside one, all you can see is the next tree. Which would be pretty much the same as the previous tree. The reason I like Skyrim so much is the unobstructed view most of the landscape offers. I mean you can see for miles. See a ruin in the distance and wonder what it is.
And this thread wasn't really about graphics. It was about the beauty of the landscape. No matter how good the graphics is the creepy swamps that we may find in Black marsh at least for me will not be as good as the mountains and plains of Skyrim.
Having said that, I wouldn't mind visiting Elsweyr
