You don't get the Security Helm from beating Legendary, you get the EOD Helm for beating Legendary. You get the Security Helm for getting 1000 gamerpoints (all the achievments). I have also beaten Halo 3 Campaign on Solo, which, in my book, is not a big achievment. Yes, I am a Halo addict.
I have yet to get all the achievments
, I need "Killing Frenzy", "Steppin' Razor", and "Overkill". I'm suprised that I have gotten so far in rank on Halo 3 (i'm a Commander, First Grade), since I can only play roughly once a month.

I've beaten every level on legendary ( solo and co-op).The Dog Whisperer wrote:Well, I've at least done the first 3 levels. Not that it means anything... I just can't beat certain levels. The Flood and Cortana.
On solo legendary 'cortana' the trick is to speedrun your ass through the level. If you actually try to kill every single monster. You're allready a dead man. This should help (it helped me) ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZP_JLoMdQw
floodgate is so easy. just stick to shotgun + assault combi, and bashing is your best friend
ps. how can you get a katana by cheating? just curious

Oath; nah, there's not a single section of any of the Halo's that's as tough as COD4's Mile High Club on Vet, and one section of the second-to-last level (the bunker, I believe). Halo is a slower, better paced game - and it never descends into the bullet-hell that COD's Veteran difficulty inflicts upon you. Although it's fairly easy to do if you stick at it, Mile High Club required some of the niftiest FPS skills I've ever had to pull off. Whilst Halo's badguys can simply be bullet-sponges - requiring sustained fire to put down - when you need to be Godlike on COD4, it's pretty much headshot-to-headshot, on the move, as you're being fired upon. When and where you release the sprint button can be the difference between life and death; Halo's margins of error are never that slim.
I still think Black - on the hardest difficulty - was the most unrelentingly nightmare-inducing console FPS I've ever played, but more so because of the length of the levels, and the lack of any proper permanent savepoints (meaning you had to sit down and finish the level in one go).
And as for co-op Halo 3 Legendary? I see it this way: solo, I might start crying in a corner if I'm getting my ass kicked... Co-op? It's just more fun.

Meh, in CoD4 I just got used to the tactics after a while. On veteran the biggest difference was just the finer points as you said, when and where you sprint, etc etc. I just think Halo3 is harder in general because I died so frickin many more times on certain levels than should've ever been necessary or called for.
Black... you're right... that game was a nightmare on the hardest difficulty. I actually gave up. (And by that I mean I didn't rent it again after returning it, lol)

Wha--? There were tactics in COD4?! Is that an unlockable extra or something?Oathbreaker wrote:Meh, in CoD4 I just got used to the tactics after a while.
[ Well, as the Xbox turned me into an FPS nut, I owned Black, and as it runs on 360, I still play it once in a while. It was one of the finest FPS's on a console that boasted an absurd amount of quality in the genre, and somehow the character you play - Kellar.J - was one of the most downright, darkly ammoral (almost unhinged) protagonists to feature in any game; which I loved ("Kellar? He's a fu***** maniac - the guy doesn't know the meaning of collateral", as another character judges.. ). And the presentation, via the one-on-one interrogation/interview room scenes, was superb. It had a great orchestral, cinematic score as well. ]

You know what I meant by tactics, lol.
Though, I never actually had an attachment to any of the characters. Not sure why, I just wasn't all that interested in them. Aside from Halo, I've never really gotten attached to the characters in an FPS. It wasn't my first genre, and it's really not my favorite, for me it's just kind of in that "I like it, but I'm not extremely interested in it" zone.

Oath; well, on the subject of becoming attached to characters in an FPS, I actually did get teary at the end of Halo 3.
*SPOILER alert! = if you haven't cleared Halo 3 all the way past the final credits, do not read any further....*
For the 8mins of the credit roll, I was semi-audibly repeating "he can't be dead... can he?! they can't kill off the Master Chief! CAN they?! surely not... he's the Master Chief, he can't die! ...but there's the memorial, and the Arbiter's all sad, and maybe just maybe he's really---" etc. Halo's apparently not known for its strong sense of story or characters, but to me the story and strength of the characters is what makes the game what it is; it's one of the few FPS's to have a stunningly effective campaign, as well as genre-defining multiplayer.
And if you've played the series right from the start, after all these years, seeing the MC and Cortana on the wrecked hulk of the UNSC ship adrift in deep space was about a poignant ending to a trilogy as I can think of. He's alive, but... so far from home, from Earth. And the Cortana dynamic in 3 - for me - makes it the best of the series; it feels like you (or at least your character) has a personal investment in what is being fought for. How Bungie coaxed such a deep rooted, and profound relationship between a seemingly personality-free super-marine, and an A.I., is about as impressive an act of character creation/writing as I've ever seen in any game, of any genre. From the intro - with Cortana's voice-over - to the monumentally beautiful "Wake me - when you need me" finale? There's no other game like it.
FFVII moved me (Aeris dying; Cloud & Tifa beneath the Highwind etc) - but for an FPS to move me equally? Now that's something.
*you are now leaving the Spoiler Zone - thank you for not reading!*

You can cheat for the multiplayer achievements several different ways. The one that I used was the language change method. What you do is go into your xbox console settings and change your language to some really weird language. Once that is saved go into the halo lobby and press x. Have it set to find players in your language. If several of your friends do this also you will all get matched up together and get the achievements.
There aren't really any ways to cheat for legendary but there is no need to cheat there. Legendary is so easy!

You know, for anyone that has trouble with Legendary difficulty, it REALLY helps to start the game on it instead of move up from a different difficulty. If you start the game on it, you get used to it a lot faster. (It doesn't really help with Halo 2 because of all the frickin snipers... but that's a different story for a different game)
Tourist, beautifully said.

What is really fun is having 4 person co-op on Legendary with the Thunderstorm(all yer enemies get a higher 'rank'), Mythic(all enemies have double health), Tilt(All enemys' resistences are higher), and Catch(everyone(including marines) throws more grenades and everybody is guaranteed to drop two grenades, which explode on contact with another grenade). Man, that day was somethin' else....
Edit: Oh, and, I believe that the topic is called for you fans of Halo 3 or Bungie, not 'Hey lets all say that COD4 is better than halo 3(which it isn't
) and say that the Epilouge on Veteran is way harder than anything in Halo 3(which everybody knows it is
, that is, anything that doesn't have a lot of skulls activated)! /rant
