I realise there is an old thread for this, but i didnt want to necropost, so i decided to make a new one.

Anyone else play this still? I just got it yesterday after seeing many lets play's of it on youtube. Its pretty fun, although im terrible at it. Died 6 times in my first 3 hours, without ever finding a weapon to use Wherever i spawned, it seemed another player had be through that area and looted everything before i got there, leaving nothing behind but zombies.

The 7th time i played, it was on a daylight only server, and you started with a machete, only the machete was glitched and wouldnt work for the first 10 minutes, so i lost about half my blood before i got it functioning and killed the zombies after me. I finally found a gun, only to have it get destroyed when i accidentally tried putting it in my bag. Found the same type of gun again but then was sniped while leaving the barn... i'm finding playing as a lone wolf is a bit more difficult than in the videos lol.

Also, anyone know how to optimize the game to a decent point? I have to have everything down to min graphics, and even play at 800x600 resolution, but im still pulling the same amount of fps as i do in high quality just about (10-12fps).

I'm not going to buy Arma 2 just to play it. I might buy the stand alone release when it comes out.

I bought Arma 2 because of Arma, and I never even touched DayZ. Maybe I'll try it someday. Maybe.

I looked online and all i could find is that it will be announced this year.

I downloaded the single player sub-mod for dayz called Daizy. Its pretty fun and nice switch to the multiplayer. Team up with survivors/bandits controlled by the AI, or prey on them

I'd like to get into DayZ. I have no interest in ARMA II though so I'm waiting for the standalone to be released.

There used to be a number of members in my gaming community that I VOIP with who played DayZ daily and it sounds like a blast. It also sounded though like the community was pretty cut-throat

It's real fun to play. Although the duping got completely out of control where people had dozens of As 50 snipers in their tents.

I heard the stand-alone game might be coming to consoles. So then I'll probably play it.
