Dohvakiin2012 wrote:I hope Runa handles Dohvakiindom much better than my Bosmer. I love heavy roleplaying, it gives the game a depth it is somewhat missing otherwise. You get a better feel for what Skyrim is supposed to be like for the people living there. Its kind of brutal. I actually dread having my characters go to areas like the Pale and Eastmarch now with FF installed because they've come close to freezing to death several times even with good gear. When Lieth was traveling to meet up with Brynjolf and Karliah at the Dwemer ruin, she thought "Crap, I almost died from the blizzards in that damn area last time".
She is not sure how she feels about it. But she will put off visiting the greybeards as she's very curious about the many ruins that dot Skyrim. She does panic the night before she travels to Skuldafn(i've written a story about it in the roleplaying thread in TES General). She may faint when she discovers what her destiny is as she may not be handle to the pressure.
Runa chopped some wood for Hulda for half of the day.(I'm roleplaying that she got paid 200 gold instead of the 480 and when she was overecumbered, she was struggling to carry the wood). She looked around the shops of Whiterun, stocked up on food the following day, spoke to the citzens. She decided to explore Skyrim as she is very curious and because she has the Thu'um, she has a little bit more of a chance to not die.
She travelled east. Bumped into a dunmer and learned of Azure's Shrine(she has no idea who or what that is due to her being a nord and being raised in Helgen). Discovered Redoran's retreat, explored the cave whilst defending herself. She cleared it out. She continued to travel after she cooked herself Vension Stew.(I really wish that the console version had the ability to set up camp anywhere). She found that dwemer ruin(the one that the headless horsemen travels to, the name escapes me) before She discovered a dead hunter's camp and took the pelts. She needs the gold but does feel guilty about doing it. Bumped into a saber cat and when she realised it was too strong for her magic, ran like the wind. She was terrorified. Didn't help that two wolves joined in. Luckily for her, they all gave up.
Spoiler:
She noticed Ravienger's fast(Sorry about the spelling as i can't remeber how it is spelt) explored it, fell through the trapdoor as she approached the chest. Almost died on impact(from a roleplaying point), was forced to kill the nercomancer and took his journal as well as a destruction skill book. She found a simple flame staff. Returned to the chest and avoided falling through the trap. Discovered Kyne, of Kyne's peace. She exited the ruin and travelled through the pass. When she came out through the other side, she discovered to her dismay that a dragon was nearby and it had noticed her. She ran to the top and for hours, fought it. She was scared during the battle but knew that if she didn't kill it, it would either hunt her down or go onto kill other people. The staff she found, she ended up using it's entire charge. Ran out of magicka potions and almost died countless times. It was a close battle. She decided to take a nap afterwards as she was knackered. She woke up 3 hours later, discovered the first word of Disarm. Her feet were aching due to boots being surprisingly hard to find at the moment. Travelled to Morthal. Overheard the argument outside of the Jarl's hall. The following day, she did some investigating into the ruined hut and almost burst into tears when she saw Hegi's ghost. Told the Jarl about it and was told to look in the graveyard. She did, later that night and was forced to kill Lalette, who had turned into a vampire. She has also agreed to do other favours for people. Mainly delievering letters. She also visited the only store in Morthal. She is wishing that she could have found some boots as her feet are very cold as well as aching. Currently, she's waiting for Alva to exit her house so she can snoop around. Normally, she wouldn't break into people's houses but she is determined to help the poor town of Morthal.
Even for a nord, the Pale is a cold place to be. Poor Runa will continue to have frozen feet. She tends to spend hours in the inn. She hates being outside at night as Morthal gets even colder. Even with her hood on, she still feels cold. And she thought the winters in Helgen were cold. If she doesn't find some boots soon, she may end up having swollen feet. If she wasn't a nord, she would have frozen to death due to a lack of boots. She now knows she can just about defeat dragons on her own though. Although if she bumps into a dragon again, she may require a change of loincloths or freeze with fear. She is starting to cope with having to kill people in self defence. She no longer vomits or feels very sick. Prehaps it's the dragon soul that is helping her to get over it or because she is a nord, she is slowly getting used to killing people.

Lieth had the scare of her life. Upon moving the family back to Lakeview Manor from Riften, she and Vilkas arrived at their spring/summer house just in time to see 3 bandits slaughter their chickens and nearly kill Aela. These bandits were tougher than the average bear which was highly annoying. They knocked Aela unconcious (the reload gods saved her from certain death) and nearly brought down badass Vilkas. Lieth's poisoned arrows were able paralyze the bandits so Vilkas could smash them into the ground with his warhammer. Lieth's eyes were filled with tears at the sight of her sluaghtered chickens. [&@%!]...bandits are such pieces of [&@%!].
At least the children were inside with their pets. Yet...Lieth realized how irreaponsible she has been. Lakeview Manor still doesn't have a housecarl and Aela had only a hunting bow to protect herself with. So Lieth is currently in the process of outfitting Aela with proper gear and they are working on getting a housecarl. Good protection for her family and property is responsible home ownership...a lesson learned the hard way.
Runa seems to be having a lot of bad luck of late. She barely managed to survive her battle with a certain vampire outside of Morthal. She did finally find some boots and surprisingly, some gloves so she no longer risks frostbite. After she saved Morthal. She decided to travel to solitude, only she didn't know what way to go.
She noticed a dragon during her journey and hoped it didn't see it. It did and she ended up soiling herself as she was lucky to survive the last dragon. So she ran. It caught up with her but luckily for her, she was near a cave and entered it. I think it was Bloodcraven cave(a small cave with a waterfall inside). She disposed of the frostbite spiders and cleaned herself up due to the dragon causing her to empty the contents of her bowels into her loincloth. It was a good thing for her that the cave was warm. Then she made her way to Solitude. Witnessed an excution and now is sitting in the Winking Skeever.
It seems that Runa is starting to fear dragons. She may have to invest in a lot of clean loincloths or rely on Skyrim's caves that feature a waterfall. And they say that the Dovahkiin is the one they fear.

Went back to try to reforge the Gauldor Amulet in Forbidden Legend. Was really tired at this point about getting slaughtered repeatedly by the Gauldor kin. So I went in with a chip on my shoulder and finally spotted the last one with a knee down in the dying position, so I went over to finish the job. So I kept stabbing and stabbing and stabbing but he just wouldn't die. That's when I realized I was knifing the hell out of my own Spectral Assassin.
After completing her mass slaughter of bandits in the surrounding area of Lakeview Manor, Lieth decided to do something fun. She got the bright idea to go on a treasure hunting campaign with shield sister, Aela. Lieth has 8 treasure maps in her inventory so that sounds fun, right? But she forgot about the skeleton key in her pocket...so that boring task has to be done first. *yawn*
Ran into Deep-in-his-cups today. Decided to pay what I owe
Tried to follow him on horseback. Saved his life against a snow bear.
He swims east over the river next to Windhelm and gets killed by a horker before my horse could swim me over to help.
I really wanted to see where he would exit the map at, but did get my ten large in septims back, though
I complete the College of Winterhold questline, fighting a non-cooperative computer along the way. Blasted thing has a habit of lagging on cell changes (usually from an interior to an exterior) and it was doing that every five or ten minutes today. At least, that's what it felt like. The only way of bringing it back to the normal framerate (that I know of) is to exit and restart the game, and doing that repeatedly gets irritating quickly.
I also stashed all my stuff in Kagrenac's Instant Fortress (located conveniently just outside of Riften for quick access to the Thieves Guild), then completed the No Stone Unturned quest. Finally got those annoying pink floating gems out of my inventory. Now I'm in position not too far away from Goldenglow Estate. As soon as I feel like it, I'll be completing the Thieves Guild.
Edit:
Also forgot to mention that I updated SkyUI earlier. Finally got access to Legendary Difficulty and decided to try it out. Haven't noticed much of a difference, but Vulom is a demi-god anyway. Maybe I'll notice a difference with a character going through Helgen, though Master doesn't give me too many problems then anyway. It's just the Spiders and their poison. Choosing a race with a poison resistance helps a bit there.
Ganvar traveled with Ralof through Helgen Keep, fighting a bunch of Imperial soldiers along the way and finally making it out. I wonder why it took so much longer with Alarra - I got Ganvar out mid-afternoon, while with Alarra it was flat-out nighttime, the aurora was shining overhead. Sure, I was still learning the controls and everything, but still, I don't know what would have taken me a couple in-game hours longer.

This is not really worth mentioning. Runa bought some clothes from Radient Raniment in Solitude, helped an old woman discover what happened to her daughter, started Sheo's quest and that's about it. Roleplaying bits aside.
EDIT: Today, Runa completed the madgod's quest. Turns out that you can get a dragon priest in that quest. Dealing with a dragon priest is bad enough, dealing with one when the game doesn't allow you to defend yourself and you are forced to use the Wabberjack as your sole means of defence is damnright cruel! And she is only a level 6 character! Whoever thought that including a dragon priest in the quest was a good idea should have their brain donated to the Madgod so he can have brainpie. I have completed the quest many times on many characters but that dragon priest only made an appearance for Runa. She is now exploring the area around Solitude. Currently, she is near the Thalmor embassy.

Felt like a change from the ice grey / ash grey world of Solstheim and spent the last couple of days having fun with my Breton/Forsworn witch, Sylvaine Emrys. First thing happening was I accidentally stumbled into the main quest through the back door (Sylvaine started as a Live Another Life character and had managed to avoid any contact with dragons or the Voice up to then): all I meant to do was buy some spells and soul gems from Farengar, but I'd forgotten that I had passed by Helgen earlier and found a victim of Alduin's attack; cue message to the jarl, getting rid of the Dragonstone I had had in my inventory all the time, Mirmulnir attacking the Western Watchtower, yadda yadda. So Sylvaine has now been proclaimed Dragonborn and is quite at a loss what to make of all that Nord mumbo jumbo. Well, if Kynareth sees fit to bestow a gift of power on her she is of course not going to refuse it, but she's in no hurry to see those Greybeards Balgruuf talked about; if they want anything with her, let them come down from their bloody mountain.
In the meantime, Sylvaine and her follower/friend/lover Cosnach paid a visit to Windhelm (where she took the chance to get a personal impression of the Bear of Markarth) and did some quests thereabouts before making their way step by step down to Riften, where they got married in the temple of Mara; Cosnach's cousin Imedhnain served as the bridegroom's witness, while the bride's witnesses were Lydia (of all people ), Eola (more like it) and Anamnesis (from the Forsworn Faction mod). They also killed a few dragons on the way (far too easily, time to turn Deadly Dragons' settings up a notch or two) and depopulated a few bandit dens (whose denizens got eaten by Sylvaine in her lupine form; yum!). Last thing they did was bring back peace to the conflicted coven of Darklight Tower (and stumble across a tiny Nord ruin tucked away behind it which I'm sure hadn't discovered on any previous playthrough; anybody wondering why I'm addicted to this game?). Who knows what's next? Some dragon slaying, some dungeon crawling... maybe even finishing the main quest in the long run? We'll see, my precious, we'll see.

You might not like me so much Finn, I spent an entire in game month clearing every Forsworn hole in the Reach for bounty quests, no survivors unless Forsworn go on beer runs...

Honestly, bandits taste better, though forsworn are palatable enough if you aren't watching your carbs

Vulom likes city-dwellers. Some of them are sweeter than others, though. She'd tell them to reduce the number of sweet rolls they eat, but that would give everything away. Not that she actually feeds that often.
Anyway, I cleared out Goldenglow Estate earlier. Would've done more, but I got caught up reinstalling Oblivion and doing the Shivering Isles.
It was suggested that I visit a man in Markarth about translating a journal written in the Falmer language. Turns out, the guy was rather rude and had little interest in helping me. So now I must take things into my own hands to obtain the translation. He's lucky I'm in a hurry or I may have tested his theory that guards would be there to assist him at the snap of his fingers.
Prior to making the run to Markarth, I decided to head home to Whiterun to craft, drop off or sell some loot and ask my wife, Jenassa, to follow me on this trip. Nothing like two dark elves frolicking across Skyrim. Along the way, we encountered a little wildlife, a blood dragon and cleared a small ruin filled with Forsworn. I was maxed out with loot by the time I reached Markarth.
It was cold, late and raining when we finally reached the gate to city. Jenassa and I made a line to the inn for a hot meal, some dry clothes and much needed rest. In the morning we sought out this Calcelmo character. For what little help he was worth.
I'll head over to the forge and trade my loot and do a little crafting before I continue on with attempting to translate this journal. Diving into Dwemer ruins sounds like it may provide some profit and I'll be needing my pockets emptied for that.
I started up my first pure mage yesterday and I have to say...as someone who has always preferred the method of swinging a very large and pointy stick, mages are pretty amazingly awesome. Nothing is more fun than firing a spell at someone and knocking them forward about 10 feet. Fus ro dah my butt.
I'm also discovering that conjuration is a great deal of fun. It's so much better to conjure up a sword than lug it around with you.
Holy moly. Magic is awesome.
Huzzah!

My wild-at-heart thief began the first part of her treasure hunting journey today. With a total of 9 treasure maps, this is going to be one curious set of adventures. Due to Aela's lack of focus in battle, Lieth decided to take along Meeko instead. A girl and her dog hunting treasure--nothing could be more perfect. Vilkas was reluctant to letting Lieth travel around Skyrim with merely a dog, but he trusts her archery skills well enough.
So far, Lieth and Meeko have only stopped at Valtheim Towers, traveling on foot from Falkreath. Bosmer also learned that bad guys will follow you to Oblivion in order to chase you. She was able to lure the bandit chief across the river and into a giant's camp, who then demolished said bandit chief. Lieth fired the deadly arrow from a hiding spot then booked it back to find her dog. They found the first chest of treasure (not saying where for all you treasure hunters out there). Sick of walking, Lieth stole a horse at Whiterun Stables and shed off her armor. Little Wood Elf feels free without the restrictions of armor, walking, or tender husbands.
My Breton spellsword, Alexander, was clearing out Haemar's Shame for the Clavicus Vile quest and apparently I contracted Sanguinaris Vampiris. In the mix of fighting and explosions from Dawnbreaker, I didn't notice it.
Cut to three days later, I'm in Windhelm picking up iron ingots to work on Lakeview when my blood boils. Being a vampire could be useful and I could easily off-set the weakness to fire with enchanting but up to this point I've been a pretty good guy. So, do I remain a vampire, feeding only on bandits and such or do I cure it?
Ganvar and Ralof made it to Riverwood.
I'm not sure if I'll continue to do those ElderStats journal entries in the form of a story as I have been, but it fits okay right now for the small amounts I've been playing.

Do you have dawnguard or not? (whether you do the questline or not is irrelevant) if you do, then there is zero need to feed unless you want to reduce the stat damage in sunlight. If you are only on base game, then running a permenant stage 4 vampire becomes a bit more difficult due to the permenant hostility, but not impossible.
Character Mildread joined the Dark Brotherhood without killing anyone. Feels a bit like a poser but what the heck
Spoiler:
First off cast frenzy on that mean orphanage head honcho. That scared the heck out of the kids as she chased everyone around. Had to cast frenzy on her assistant to have her finish the job. Went back, picked up my special plate wow, then took a nap. Woke up with Astrid yada yada. Stood behind the captives and cast Mayhem then Invisibility. Heck, Astrid killed the 3 captives lickity split 1 stab kills took a couple seconds. Waited for her mayhem to wear off - and she invited me to join, no questions asked
Like the idiot I am, I got bored and threw my armor from the top of the Throat of the World and let it fall and then went to go find it.
I did a quick save just before doing it with the intent to just reload if I couldn't find it. Unfortunately, I habitually quicksave every few minutes, and I did so without realizing it, then saved that quicksave to my proper save, since I was in 1st person and couldn't see that I was armorless on the load.
And, to the argument where loading the quicksave was in a different location as the old one. It wasn't. I saved in roughly the same general type of landscape, on a little rock jutting out from the ground, so without investigation it looks rather similar to where I was.
So, here I am wearing nothing. This was after the save, I just moved down into the light near Ivarstead, because I figured this would be a humorous little story to end the character with. Good thing I am such a good sneak, archer, and dual wielder that combat isn't an issue and that I have a fair amount of money and I can forge more armor, because now my character is in just an Amulet of Talos and a circlet.
