Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack
I'm really wondering why the "Ask us anything" series isn't the biggest discussing topic here on the fora.
And I mean definitely this one:
http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/p ... riety-pack
Just a fraction:
- New Daedric Princes!
- There will be new info about the Dwemer
- Orsinium orcs worship Malauch, absolutely 'NOT' a daedric prince
- Name of a prominent Argonian leader: One of the Archcanons, Heita-Meen, who administer Argonian affairs above the tribal level (at least in northern Black Marsh), as well as the Keeper of the Hatching Pool in Shadowfen
- Swordsingers of the Ansei
- More books than ever before!!
- And many, many more info in the other "Ask us anything" articles
As far as I read this articles, they are trying to be very lore friendly.

Not confirmed. You're getting way too excited.Ilaro wrote:

Maybe.- There will be new info about the Dwemer
I bet.- Orsinium orcs worship Malauch, absolutely 'NOT' a daedric prince
I'm more interested in the Hist than their servants.- Name of a prominent Argonian leader: One of the Archcanons, Heita-Meen, who administer Argonian affairs above the tribal level (at least in northern Black Marsh), as well as the Keeper of the Hatching Pool in Shadowfen
Said to be extinct. You make it sound like they're in-game.- Swordsingers of the Ansei
I believe in quality over quantity.- More books than ever before!!
Temple Zero will be the judge of that. I can't speak for them but I'm only mildly impressed so far.As far as I read this articles, they are trying to be very lore friendly.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Ya know Pilaf, maybe we could stick to discussion part instead of say assuming someone "make(s) it sound like they're in-game" when given teasers such as these
He's certainly right (I think) in that UESP has been someone quiet on some of the info from these Q&As and I'd certainly be interested in what people think of potentially new Daedric Princes being added

Re: Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack
UESP has been oddly quiet on the online game in general. I actually went to another forum to discuss it actively, believe it or not.
I think people here are such big fans that they're torn between being excited and having a stick up their behinds. For some reason, we can't discuss it objectively or without bias, which I suppose makes it tough. As the forefront of the TES community, I guess we feel we have something to loss. Meanwhile, lots of other sites are passing us up! So sad, my s'witty little heart.
I actually haven't paid much attention to the Q&As, although I see them often on ZOS's Google+ page. I'll have to give them a go. I've been reading more articles on the material, to be honest.

Sadly we're waiting for Dave to get the answers from ZOS! He was recently on a business trip out of the country, so I'll have to follow up again. It's in his hands currently, however. But they were sent in before the winter holidays. I understand we are waiting from ZOS to respond.

Being pessimistic about an elder scrolls MMO isn't having a stick up one's ass. Also it is difficult to discuss anything objectively.Avron the S'wit wrote:UESP has been oddly quiet on the online game in general. I actually went to another forum to discuss it actively, believe it or not.

Re: Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack
Being pessimistic is one thing and that's fine. I'm cautious about many of the features, myself. However, since I don't have a ton of information and haven't even tried the game yet, I'm not ready to condemn it. Creating arguments because you've condemned it to be a big pile of steaming crap is another thing entirely, which most people here aren't guilty of, anyhow. There's nothing wrong with constructive pessimism or criticism, but endless arguments teetering between "It sucks!" and "No it doesn't!" and "How do you know?" doesn't serve much for discussion or information gathering. I'd like to discuss it objectively, examine the information, and go into the matter informed and curious. I judge nothing before I first try it.
You can discuss anything as objectively as possible, so long as you go into it with the knowledge that you're biased and possibly not entirely informed. It's not difficult.
Besides, I come to UESP to get information about all the games, regardless of how I feel about them. It's really hard to come here sometimes when I spend most of my time in this subforum telling people to stop being so damn rude to each other.
Of course, this isn't on topic at all, so let's not start one of those threads again.

Re: Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack
They better not have new princes. New princes that just so happened to show up in the 2nd era that we never heard of before? It would be a massive retcon and a slap in the face if they did.

Re: Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack
I haven't seen anything to indicate this. Even the Ask Us Anything only says this:
"Any previously unseen Princes" simply means those that haven't occurred yet in game. That's a lot of potential - and says nothing about a new Daedric Prince, as in one that has never been mentioned previously in lore, which would be unlikely and I would bet my dollar on wouldn't occur. As in the other Elder Scrolls games, the Daedric Princes have a high profile in ESO. They seem to love to meddle in the affairs of mortals. As for whether we will reveal any previously unseen Princes, well – the Planes of Oblivion are infinite.

Maybe it'll be similar to one of my fav books: Vernaccus and Bourlor. Not sure if it's the same era but I guess similar stories could've happened but not been told.

My first thought (along similar lines as all_freed) is that we'll get to know lesser "royalty" of Oblivion, like second in commands or Daedra of esoteric spheres with only a fraction of the Princes' power.Avron the S'wit wrote: "Any previously unseen Princes" simply means those that haven't occurred yet in game. Though I wouldn't be surprised to find something similar to Jyggalag, where they are trapped/cursed, or find rare sources of wars waged against one of the known Princes and lost.
Maybe ol' Hermaeus Mora could wipe all records in Oblivion of a hated enemy, now defeated...

Yeah, maybe there'll be a quest involving Lorkhan's liver or kidneys or something... and they were destroyed and forgotten by history as well...

Re: Ask Us Anything: Variety Pack
I don't think they should add new princes that weren't mentioned before. The 17 we have now are fine. Build on them instead of getting new ones. Jyggalag was mentioned in Daggerfall, so he already existed. Maybe a god who has been mentioned in the lore already could show up. But I can't think of any that are Daedra, most are just the same god with a different name. But if you were going to do it, do it in the 4th era not the 2nd. And do it in a main entry, not in a spin off. It would be like if they had dragons first appear in a spin off. Oh wait... Anyway doing it in the 2nd era just messes with stuff that has already happened. We know they wouldn't have a large impact on the world.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

TES:O is second era, 2E 582 is the starting year. The maze would have still been used for potential Arch-Mage testing, but the place itself dates back to the dragon cult, when it's believed to have been the capital of Skyrim as it was then.
Shalidor was back in the first era as already stated.
