Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I finally got around to installing Deadly Dragons today. Of course, being a complete newbie to this mod, I foolishly set the assault timer to one hour (after boosting all of the dragons' attributes by 25%). So I'm wandering around in one of those little Falmer villages in the Forgotten Vale, and the assault notification pops up on my screen. Okay, no big deal. It's an elder dragon, but still shouldn't be too difficult to deal with. Except for the fact that dragons get new shouts with this mod, and this bad boy decided to use storm call. That fight was over pretty quickly. So I reload, start fighting the dragon, and another assault notification pops up. Now I have two elder dragons. And then a third one spawned... I reloaded the auto save from exiting the glacial abyss and changed the timer to 48 hours, plus or minus six hours. I felt like such an idiot after that.

Sometimes when I get bored I like to jump of cliffs just to observe the ragdoll effect. It's quite entertaining, I'll have you know.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
So today I was walking past Dawnstar along the coast heading towards Solitude when in the distance I noticed a Dragon flying around. I headed in the general direction of the Dragon hoping to take it out before it headed to Dawnstar and ate half the population. On my way over to it I noticed I had angered a frost troll and it was now chasing after me as well but I thought I would let the Dragon take it out and hopefully the troll would make it a little easier to kill the Dragon. When I got a little closer to where the Dragon was lurking I suddenly saw a fire bolt hit the troll, but to my surprise this came from a near by Flame Atronach and not the Dragon! To make matters worse the Dragon happened to be roaming around a bandit camp of which there where 2 regular bandits, a bandit highwayman and a bandit marauder who all decided to go hostile towards me rather than the 50 foot flying flame-thrower circling above.
I decided to dodge the immediate danger of the 4 bandits, frost troll and flame atronach before taking on the Dragon and in doing so the Dragon itself killed all of these opponents in seemingly 1 fire breath attack each! That is when I noticed that this was not just any old Dragon but actually an ancient Dragon, as I don't usually get to a high enough level before getting sick of my characters this was pretty much the first time I had seen one. After a couple of hits with my bow I realised this was well beyond my current power as I barely put a dent in its health with an enchanted ebony bow. I was supposed to have Vilkas as a companion but I get the feeling he may have drowned out near the northern ice caps, can npc's drown?
Anyway my new plan was to run back to Dawnstar and get the towns guard to join in the fight with hopefully minimal casualties to the unique towns folk. I barely managed to get back to the town, thank Talos for the "Become Ethereal" shout! The commencing fight from here on was truly epic, and in the end a total of 6 Dawnstar Guards lay dead around the base of the Windpeak Inn. I died more times than I care to remember and would have to put this down as the single toughest fight I have had in Skyrim to date. I think I saw every kill animation that Dragons have, including the Dragon swooping down and grabbing me with its claws while I tried to shoot it with an arrow from standing on top a house roof, then throwing me into the sea. I had heard Dragons where not that tough at higher levels but with around 430 health and potions that give 50% fire resistance I was still being killed in one fire breath if I didn't use Become Ethereal in time, granted on master difficulty but still that was insane.
Luckily that took place at night so I didn't suffer any npc townsfolk losses in Dawnstar, but that one dragon in the end killed a Frost Troll, a Flame Atronach, 4 bandits, 6 towns guard and I think 3 wolves on its own! It also got me several times. Including a small break it took me just under an hour to bring it down.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
GoatLiver, standing on the roof of a house when fighting a very tough Dragon can hardly be the best strategy, eventhough it may look heroic. It leaves you completely exposed. You have to use cover to deflect their breath attacks. Even a large tree between you and the Dragon makes for decent cover while you're reloading your Bow.
When a Dragon lands and you find yourself out in the open with no useable cover, sheath your weapon and sprint in a wide circle so you're behind the Dragon. The time it takes for the Dragon to turn around and face you is enough time to get a couple of good shots off. Then you have to sprint again.
Deathbell + River Betty + Thistle makes a great Poison that'll eff-up even the toughest enemies for a short time.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I remember reading somewhere on the wiki that followers will swim back to the surface if they lose their breath underwater. But that doesn't mean he didn't drown...can npc's drown?
Well anyways... After fast traveling to the Old Hroldan inn I walked towards to a nearby cliff and an Ancient Dragon flew past me and so I started to fight it. As the battle went on another Ancient Dragon came over the hills and far away and started to attack. I started to attack this dragon as I had lost track of the other one. Then the first dragon landed right in front of me and nearly burned me to death and so i quickly killed it by spamming frost spells. I then started to attack the other dragon with the master level destruction spell (the shock one, can't remember the name) and it crash landed beyond a nearby mountain. Upon arrival I noticed the dragon landed directly on an open dragon burial mound and it flew back into the sky (it healed enough to fly back up). I used my spell again to force it to crash land again( I really love it when a dragon crash lands onto the ground) and it started to attack me with its frost breath. I ended up using those pillars around the mound as cover, it looked really cool, and I eventually killed it with some spell. The ironic thing is that I killed the dragon right on top of a burial mound( it was probably the one it came from too). This was probably my best dragon encounter ever.

Today I was building at Lakeview Manor, and a Courier arrives with an inheritance letter (Faendal died in a Dragon attack).
After accepting it, I built on.
Cue three hours later, I walk around looking at the house, when I spot the courier tanning leather, saying "Nope, sorry. Nothing." to me all the time.
Apparently he wants a job that doesn't involve traversing a huge, dangerous wilderness all the time.

I was/am force leveling enchanting on a new character, so I fast travelled to Tolfdir who is still standing outside of Saarthal to buy some more petty soul gems.
A hostile (random encounter) NPC Khajiit spawned - Having been in a similar scenario many times, I knew that the mages outside Saarthal will help you if an enemy gets close enough, so I ran to Tolfdir.
Then I heard Tolfdir say some combat dialog that I've never heard before. (I only heard half of the sentence, since I was casting spells myself);
"You remind me of my cousin's cat...."
Does anyone know the full/correct dialog?

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I don't remember the exact location, but it was one of those places where there are two entrances and goes through a mountain or some other natural barrier. Well anyways I went through the entrance that is usually the exit and went backwards through the tunnel, and eventually I reached a staircase going up with some bandits at the top. I was on my mage character and shot some icy spears at the bandits and eventually only one remained and she started to run towards me. Little did they know there was a pressure plate in front of her and she stepped on it and when she got to the bottom of the staircase a battering ram came down and killed her and she went flying into the stairs. It was amazing.

I ran into a necromancer around about Falkreath. But instead of resurrecting people as zombies he was resurrecting chickens....
I do not want to know what he had planned.

I was fighting an Orc with a warhammer today, shooting him full of lightning at a distance. I ran out of magicka near the end, just as he was charging me. So I waited until he was in range, swung my sword...
And went into an absolutely perfect cinematic. My character stepped to the side as he swung, and chopped off his head while he was recovering. It felt truly awesome. Probably the most successful killcam I've ever seen.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I was wandering around Fort Frostmoth earlier when I noticed two bones hovering in the air about half way up one of the trees. Me being me (and somewhat tired), I walked under them and just as I looked up, the bones suddenly fell. I actually ducked. Then started laughing when I realized what had happened.
Another one was when poor Vulom went to have a nap after wandering Solstheim for a couple of days. She woke up and found herself hammering at the Temple of Miraak. That was seriously convenient... And it kinda makes me wonder if my game is trying to tell me something. I was going to do some exploring (for more Black Books), but I guess I'll go and meet Miraak while I'm at his Temple. Then go after some Black Books.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
The other day, I was confronted by Katria's assistant who had stolen her work; he attacked, saying I knew too much, and (as it was right on the corner by Honningbrew Meadery) two Whiterun guards helped me kill him and his mercenaries. I have to wonder what those guards think of me; half the time, I'm running toward them with some sort of enemy on my tail (a pack of Stormcloaks, for example.) At least they're not complaining about guard duty being boring.

I had Heimskr call Anika a milk drinker the other day. I was just like... "Really, Heimskr? I'm Stormblade, for crying out loud! And you're going to stand there and accuse me of being a milk drinker?" Luckily for him, Anika decided to let it slide.
Oh, this one just happened tonight. I was fighting an ancient dragon outside of Lakeview. Anika Shouted at it, and a few seconds later, a courier comes up with a letter from a friend...completely ignoring the fact that I'm in the middle of a fight with a dragon! I couldn't even tab out, so I'm just standing there getting burned to a crisp while the courier takes his good old time handing me the letter. I stabbed him afterwards, but he's essential for some reason, and I didn't feel like looking up his ID to kill him for his stupidity...

Here's another one. My Bosmer thief/assassin decided on a whim to kill Andurs while he slept. When she came out of the Hall of the Dead (hah), she was immediately met by a courier who gave her an inheritance of 300 gold. So in a sense, she was paid for killing him. I just found it terribly amusing and ironic.

I'm wondering if this is a result of patch 1.8? I keep encountering the same thing. I've never recieved so many inheritence letters before.perylousdemon wrote:Here's another one. I killed a dragon outside of Iron-Breaker Mine, unfortunately for the miner Karl, he didn't survive the dragon. When the dragon was defeated, and the soul was asorbed, the Courier approached me and gave me an inheritence from Karl.
Another example, I fast travelled to Riverwood, and upon arrival the Courier delivered me an inheritence from Camilla Valerius. What I find funny about this inheritence, is why didn't her brother get it? Sure I solved her love triangle with Faendal and Sven, and brought the Golden Claw back, but I don't deserve her inheritence for that. On top of getting her inheritence, I think Sven killed her, then killed himself. I found both of their bodies laying side by side outside of the Sleeping Giant. I guess Sven's heartbreak lead to tragedy.

Recently while exploring Solstheim (possible spelling error) on a freshly made level 2 character (level 15 now), & got a fancy little reikling to follow me. I ran into some drauger, high level ones with ebony stuff. Somehow i managed to whittle their numbers down to 1, & just as it came to a 1-more hit & either's dead situation, I was about to bite the dust & all of a sudden a little spear flys by my characters head & drops the last drauger. That little guy was definitely worth the trouble

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I suppose I'll start at the beginning. I was doing the last quest in the Thieves' Guild questline. After the cave fills up with water. Normally not a problem, but I have Hypothermia installed, and the core body temperature set to 20 because Anika was a Nord and really wasn't affected by the cold if I didn't set it fairly low. Long story short, hypothermia starts to set in before long. By the time the cave fills up completely, Fae was overencumbered by quite a bit due to losing her "Extra Pockets" perk, along with her stamina. Again, not a huge deal. She was moving at a snail's pace, but it would've been okay... Except that a dragon spawned when she exited the cave. And not just any dragon. It had to be a nether dragon (Deadly Dragons mod). Mauin knows what I'm talking about. So I start freaking out at this point because there's no way I'm killing a nether dragon in my condition (now losing health to hypothermia). I tried killing it with the console, to no avail; the dragon did fly off to attack a nearby warzone, which bought me enough time to move Frost to my position and ride him like the wind to the Nightgate Inn. It was all rather harrowing.
