Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I borrowed a friends copy of Morrowind for xBox back in 2004, San Andreas had not long been
released and he simply had no interest in playing a fantasy styled RPG; so I kept it and have been
hooked on/completed every major release since. With the exception of the Skyrim DLC.
Which I have yet to experience. :U

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
My computer when I was about 8 or 9 was really crappy and had no internet connection. My mom is a grant writer, so the GOOD computer she used all the time. My dad heard about a game that kept people occupied and...well, he bought me Daggerfall.
When I was in middle school I heard one of my friends talking in an art class about being the Nerevarine, so I asked him what game he was playing. He said "Morrowind" and I just shrugged. Then, while eavesdropping again, I heard him say Dunmer and I said "HEY, IS THAT AN ELDER SCROLLS GAME?" from across the art room and he said "YEAH MAN!" and then I yelled "DUDE, WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME!". I went over to his house that weekend and we played nonstop for like...40 hours.
I don't remember when I bought the Oblivion GOTY, but I sunk many hours into that.
On 11/11/11, my buddy (Mr. Nerevarine) and myself got Skyrim. We played for hours. He ended up hating the game. Which is sad, because I LOVE Skyrim. While the nostalgia is fun with the other titles, Skyrim's gameplay is so smooth, I love it.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I was bored and broke, saw Oblivion on the shelf for $20 and picked it up last November. Beat the crap outta it, scraped up enough for Skyrim, exhausted that (until we finally get the DLC) and now have drug out my original Xbox and am playing through Morrowind.
Still broke, but not bored anymore.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
Me cousin and brother were playing Skyrim on PS3, I wasn't that interested in it. Then, last week before going back to uni, I loaded it up - first thought "Hmm, the opening scene has the player being executed. I can see why it's an 18..." Rolled a green argonian, spent half an hour figuring out how to set the character up, named him something like Vorcha'zarr, watched as the blue curriassed guy got himself killed, then some black dragon attacks, the place is buring down, and I immediately think this is epic. Ran into the keep with some guy called Hadvar, fought more of these blue armoured people, got out of Helgen, got asked to go to Whiterun by the village blacksmith, started on bleak falls barrow to get some claw for the shop keeper dude, which was extremely scary after the first draugr, so much that I went running back out of the barrow...
After much avoiding the issue, went to Whiterun, only to find the spell selling hooded guy in the side bit of the court wanted me to go to... Bleak Falls Barrow. FFS...
Went in and just charged through, hacked the weird dead but not quite things down, got to the end, and this enclave is glowing blue. Go over there, on screen message said word learnt, then oh no, not another f...ing one of those things, oh damn, he's got more health than the others...
Sadly that Vorcha'zarr never got out of Bleak Falls Barrow - I had to go to university. Must have put 40 hours in 3 days on him...
First thing I did was get Skyrim for the xbox 360, and restarted good old Vorcha again... However, the first Vorcha had been more fun, and I restarted. Again. This time a young looking, quite beautiful high elven woman, named Jennifere, because I wanted to do magic, and the high elves looked like the best option, with an extra 50 magicka, and the preset for the male high elf looked rubbish, and the preset for the woman was pretty...
I've put probably 5-600 hours into her, and new versions of her since... (The best of them has her stats in the spoiler below, with pictures of the TV of her.)
Started reading the UESP wiki for guidance and backstory information. After a few weeks I found the forums and got Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Still haven't built a house...

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
Arena, 1994.
A CompUSA had Arena out to play. Several hours later I was told I had to get off since the store was closing, so I bought it. The rest is history. I had never seen a cRPG with such an expansive, creative magic system. Spell creation was totally amazing and a huge draw for many of the players that started with Arena. Unfortunately they have ruined magic in Skyrim, so it is rather sad when a game over 17 years old is more expansive than the latest. It's too bad Beth sold out.
Yeah, I have to rant about magic in every post.

My brother's friend (or girlfriend, or mortal enemy - it varies from month to month) had Oblivion, and told she and my brother told me I'd like it. So I tried it. I did like it. So I bought a computer on which I could play it. I've never looked back.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
About the time Skyrim was released I decided to look up what the hell the elder scrolls were. When I discovered the first two games in the series were free downloads I decided to give them a shot... It resulted in about month of playing Daggerfall almost nonstop. I've found the series fascinating ever since. Being that I'm broke I'm still playing Daggerfall quite frequently, and am slowly making some progress with Arena.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
Back in 2009 or 2010, my friend got Oblivion and talked about the game a lot. He didn't do much good at explaining what the game was like, so I wasn't interested at first. I went for a visit at his place some time later. And of course he was playing Oblivion. I remember that I fell in love with the game, even though I only watched him play it and only got to take a small adventure into the woods and start my own war in the Imperial City, but it was enough to get me into the game.
For a few weeks I went to his place to play it together, but then it kinda got boring. My PC was s*** and couldn't handle any game, and I didn't have a PS3 or a Xbox 360, so I didn't buy it. I kinda forgot the whole game for a long time. Then I got a PS3 for a Christmas in 2011. I only had one game for it and so I went to the local game store after a few days. Found Oblivion GOTY in there and remembered when I was playing it at my friend's house. Of course I had to buy it.
I guess that it began there. Two months later the gameplay trailer for Skyrim was released. I knew that I was going to play this series for a long time.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I got Skyrim for christmas last year without even asking for it. My aunt went to the store and was talking to someone that worked there. She didnt know what to get me but only knew i had a ps3 and liked video games so the worker recommend it so she got it for me. I played it that night it was pretty fun but the problem was it had to compete with the crap known as MW3. At the time MW3 won
But I stopped playing mw3 in like May then I took a break from PS3 and gaming because there was no good games really lol forgetting how i got skyrim. I also got Oblivion and Fallout: NV but I prefer Skyrim over both and TES over FO overall. Then fast forward to last week i got bored from Black Ops 2 so i started playing Skyrim again and this is actually the point where i really got into the game. Then I found the forums and the rest is history

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I did't really get into the TES series until 2008. I started with Oblivion and didn't really understand it. I played it for a couple days and took it back. It wasnt until I played Fallout 3 that I understood what Oblivion really was. I had never really played a game that you could just walk around and be what ever you want. I don't think it's a coincidence that the game was made by the same people either. There's something about that team that just resinates with me through their games.
After I played fallout 3 (for like a year straight) I got back to Oblivion with the right mind set. I haven't stopped with the elder scrolls series since. I'm still trying to play Morrowind. I think I'm going to buh and old xbox just to play Morrowind.
I can't miss out on that part of the series.

I heard Oblivion was good so I bought the GOTY edition 2nd hand for the PS3. That was back in 2008. Turns out it was good.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I played a Daggerfall demo back in '98, without even knowing it was an elder scrolls game, then around 2009 i found out of a fun game called Oblivion, that had a nice looking green sword and lizard men. i got it and then realized that glass wasn't that cool and that argonians suck, but that planted the little seed in my head, the elder scrolls seed.
Then i knew about Morrowind, first i thought that graphics sucked, but then, after getting tired of oblivion's bugs and extremely repetitive environment, i gave it a try. It is now my favorite game!
then i got in a search and destroy quest for the older titles, Arena and Daggerfall became my addiction, mostly Daggerfall.
On November 2011 i knew about Skyrim, so, since my netbook ain't gonna run it (It ran Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, Battlespireand almost got it to run Redguard, damn windows 7!) i got Skyrim for the Xbox. Anyway, i got out very disappointed with some features and very proud of others.
Now i'm saving for a pc capable of running more than decently all TES games plus other favorites.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
Ages ago I once played my Aunt's copy of Morrowind but it kept crashing about 10 minutes so I can't say it made an impression.
Then in 2010 my friend kept nagging me to play Oblivion, because I loved Fallout 3 and NV, so I started playing and was hooked!

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
Skyrim's marketing reeled me in. I saw ads for it, and saw people discussing it on forums, so I checkied it out. Was gobsmacked with what I found and immediately went and bought the game, this was around January. Spent my whole summer holidays and the next half of the year playing it. Then I worked my way backwards, buying and playing Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall and Arena. I enjoyed them all, especially Oblivion and Morrowind, but Skyrim will always be my favourite. Until TES VI is out.

I remember being 7 and playing oblivion for 1000 hours, then crashing my computer good, slightly insane times.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I was first introduced to the Elder Scrolls through my friend's gameplay stories about Morrowind (lots of Cliff Racers involved
). Out of curiosity, I decided to read some articles on the Wiki and learn more about the lore. Later on (about a year ago), I played some Skyrim with a friend of mine, and he introduced me to all of the game mechanics. Once I got a good computer for gaming, I bought Skyrim, along with Oblivion and Morrowind a few months later.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I picked up Oblivion when it first came out for the sole reason that I was sick of paying so much money for games that I didn't spend much time playing. I thought I could get a lot of hours in on Oblivion compared to other games of the same price, and I ended up being more right about that than I ever expected. After playing Oblivion nearly non-stop until Shivering Isles came out, then SI for several months in a row, I had to buy Morrowind GOTY. Played a bit of that (which was what led me to UESP since it was so confusing for me compared to Oblivion) and fell even more in love with the series. Pre-ordered Skyrim so I'd have it as soon as it was released, of course, and have gotten the DLC right away so far too. I'd love to some day try out Arena or Daggerfall, though I've heard they're far more difficult. Perhaps one day.

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
It was 1995. Arena. I was 16 played it on my uncles computer who was an IT grad and always had the best on the market PC. We were lucky, my 3 brothers and I used to get all his old computers when he got a new one. I had to stay at his house for 2 weeks during school holidays and I found it (Arena) after being told not to use his computer. He found out after a few days later and was impressed with how I played it, so he put it on our home computer (an old one of his) I have been hooked ever since. I have played every game in the series and would love to know how many hours I have lost playing them all.Xarnac the Conqueror wrote:Arena, 1994.

One thing I have to say... without any fanboy rants is, to this day I still can not see the big deal about Morrowind. I enjoyed it. But I still think each game has gotten better. There are good and bad points in all of them, but in my view, they pretty much run in order of release in relation to how I'd rate them.
Long live TES!!

The summer of 2007 I was living in Gainesville, Florida and my friend told me I could play any computer game he had, except Morrowind. Naturally, I wanted to play it since I was forbidden to, and I've never heard of it. So I started playing Morrowind, and after a few days I was completely hooked. I spent the next 2 months playing this awesome game morning, noon, and night. Then I moved on to Oblivion and it took over my life. I went out and bought a 360, waiting for 11-11-11. Skyrim took over and I just can't get enough Elder Scrolls!!!! I am just blown away with Elder Scrolls. No other game even comes close!!

Re: How/when did you get into TES?
I was in university and my then-boyfriend came over one day with the promise that I'd "really enjoy this game." He then proceeded to put Morrowind on my laptop...and I was instantly hooked. I always loved RPGs and the storytelling in Morrowind had me captivated, as did the world it took place in. We spent all of spring break in his apartment playing the damn game until the wee hours of the morning. A few years later my cousin introduced me to Oblivion - and the rest is history...

Was looking for some new games round about 2006. Heard good stuff about Oblivion, so I thought, why not? Bought it, and have been hooked on TES since.
