When I click on the "1300" link for the last page, I count 30 records, which I presume are numbered 1300 through 1329. But the top of the page says it's displaying records 1300 through 1330 of 1331 records. Since the record count starts with 0, my guess is that there's some sort of "add 1" logic ...

The page Oblivion SPEL Records says there are 1,331 records. I retrieved 1,324 records, seven records short.

There are only 99 records on the first page. Other record types that I have used (like ALCH for potions) have 100 records on the first page.

Ding, ding, ding!! I believe that Lord Timster has determined the cause.

The tilde is decimal 126 or 0x73, second to last character in the ASCII table. Lower case l is 108 or 0x6c. That explains the order.

Why there are tildes in the name is probably lost in the mists of time. Using the link ...

In Oblivion, are there quests that have a time limit? During most quests, the player can do a quest task, then go off and do something else unrelated to that quest for any length of time. The order is correct if it is based on spell hierarchy for skeletons. Possibly the code behind it (rather than the spelling) is determining placement.
