Re: Role Playing?
I understand how some people like roleplaying... I'm not much into that though. I used to do it more years ago, but I have thankfully stopped, because it was an impedement to actually playing the game. See, I felt 'forced' to create a "good" character in order to play the good quests, and "evil ...

lore:dunmer names and dagoth names
Should not the names of all dagoth ash vampires and ash ghouls, and ur himself, be part of the compilation of dunmer names? Given that 'dagoth' is on the list as a surname, I find it odd that the first names of the members are not included. As far as I know, the members of house dagoth were dunmer ...

Re: Status of the Provinces of Tamriel
My point being, only in one situation was the justification justified . The fact that it has been used on Earth is irrelevant. Unless, of course, some Chinese emperors fought off some army from hell that I'm not aware of.
Well, we might never know...
Also, the original empress, St. Alessia, was ...

Re: Status of the Provinces of Tamriel
The roman republic was founded as a revolt against tyranny, the chinese emperors ruled with a heavenly mandate.. Where's the difference?
Did the Chinese emperors ultimately save the world from a demon hell-bent on its destruction? Or any demon, for that matter? I would say that's a pretty ...

Re: Status of the Provinces of Tamriel
I wouldn't paint the Empire as such a benign and benevolent entity though. It doesn't exist to protect the people of Tamriel, it protects them because it's in their interest to do so. Very different. other than that, thanks for using your superior english skills and articulation to expand upon my ...

Re: Future of the Franchise: Sequels
I don't think having the game set in the past will limit the developers and it won't be as fun because we already know what's going to happen. A favourite scenario of mine would be if dwemer appeared again. That be an awesome setting in my view.

Re: The Official TES VI Wishlist thread
Here's an idea:
The dwemer/dwarves should be the "Dragons" of TES:VI
They should return and wreak havoc with the Empire, Aldmeri Dominion, and Rebels if that is the setting.
I'm not saying they should be the main quest, but should switch places with the Civil War of Skyrim.
The rest is up to ...

Re: Skyrim races in real life
I think I differ from most others when it comes to the Orcs though. To me the Orcs seem to be Skyrim's version of the Polish. A tough people that are few in number and surrounded by enemies who look down on them and make them the target of jokes and ridicule. Their low numbers make it a necessity ...

Re: Status of the Provinces of Tamriel
The definition of empire is vague, and it may or may not be compatible with federation depending on circumstances. the Tamrielic empire has a ruling group (cyrodiils) with dominion over other groups; is headed by a monarch with the emperor/empress title; was assembled and backed up by force. This ...

Re: The lack of unique settings in the elder scroll series.
I'm with the crowd thinking that Elsweyr might be an interesting setting for Elder Scrolls VI. You could start out with more Imperial looking cities and towns in the north where the cultures interact but as you go further south the setting becomes much more varied. There's just enough lore on the ...

Re: Status of the Provinces of Tamriel
The Empire's influence fluctuates with time, and each province has a unique political and geographical background. Typically, the Empire is closer to one political sub-division than another, resulting in disparate Imperial authority within a province. Politics can be incredibly murky. Circumstance ...

Re: Status of the Provinces of Tamriel
The Empire, Cyrodiil, doesn't rule directly in the provinces, but rather relies on puppet rulers. This was, and still is, a common and useful way to control a region. Simply let the old ruling class keep on ruling, but ruling under you. There's no need to remake every new conquered province to fit ...

Re: Inconsistencies within the series (from Redguard onwards
'rebooting' the lore is something they should do anytime they discover that something they said in the past might actually turn out to be such a great idea, like not allowing beast races to wear full helmets or boots. But To make cyrodiil as dull as it was wasn't a necessary reboot. I'd much have ...

Re: Khajiits and cats
I suppose it must be some kind of logical gap in lore then. There must be some reasonable explaination for the similarity of cats and khajiit, even though such an explaination hasn't yet been conjured up by bethesda.

Re: Future of the Franchise: Sequels
^ I'm fine with the character being special. The games are about heroes and prophecies are they not? But I don't like how I'm forced into that role. In skyrim for example, you're forced to see a dragon in the beginning. Okay, that isn't so bad but I think it rushed it a bit: dragons should've been ...

Re: What difficulty do you play on?
I'm playing on legendary (hardest possible?), with my sneaky khajiit. I was bothered by how ridiculously easy everything was, and how overpowered the player is. So I made a new character and switched to legendary, and never switched back. Now the game offers a real challange for once, and I'll ...

Re: Khajiits and cats
I'm not what the lore says about the relations between cats and Khajiit. There are cougars in Oblivion and I don't remember any Khajiit treating them differently than other races treated them. I'd probably imagine it is the same way that humans view apes, that they are related but don't really have ...

Re: Possibility of carrying on with the Dragonborn?
Of course it's possible, just like it was possible to carry on with the nerevarine. But they won't, hopefully. I'm sure we'll be given some explaination of how the dragonborn ended his/her days when we get TES6, just like we were with the nerevarine. I prefer to have us start over again with a new ...

Re: Khajiits and cats
As I suspected then: cats exist. The question then is, what relations do khajiits have towards cats? I understand that evolutionary biology doesn't really exist in TES universe, but they must be connected somehow. Do they view cats as we humans view apes and monkeys? Releated but not as smart? What ...

Khajiits and cats
When playing oblivion and skyrim, and maybe morrowind (i don't remember right now) there are references which indicate the existance of cats. People commonly call khajiits for cats, so I wonder, are they cats? Are they releated to the housecats people always talk about (when in combat)? I've never ...

Re: Future of the Franchise: Sequels
If they're going to have the next game continue with the imperial-thalmor conflict I think it's likely that they're going to have the game set in a thamlor controlled province, or an imperial one bordering the thamlor. Black marsh is thus probably excluded, and given that we've already been in ...

Re: The Simplification of the Series, when do you give up?
ugh, please no sex! It's a fantasy game *cries*, I don't want to have orc-khajiit-argonian nightmares, nor do I want to accidentaly see such pictures when I google the game. Adding anything like that just takes the focus away from the adventuring, which is the core of the game. A game can't be ...

Re: The lack of unique settings in the elder scroll series.
The "Creation Engine" isn't new at all. It's just the same old gamebryo engine re-branded with just a couple new features . I don't think that they were practicing using their new engine any more than with Oblivion. If there ever was a time when Beth had to experiment, it was when they first ...

Re: The Simplification of the Series, when do you give up?
Well, mr. KryptonianBlood, I think Skyrim is a very good game in many respects, and not at all as dumbed down as many say. Most things can be explained, and aren't very bad decisions at all. I'm actually rather okay and even glad that armor pieces have been simplified as they are now. Greaves and ...
