The Raft

Both Sees-In-Shade and Mauzol managed to drag themselves onto the raft, the Argonian appearing moments after his Orcish companion. The raft rocked with the passing of the waves beneath which forced those on board to remain low. Sees-In-Shade could feel the exhaustion begin to creep up on him and he shivered violently.

The Sea

Psyfalia never woke up. Her systems shut down one by one, and in a most undramatic fashion, she passed into the next world.

The Shore

The Redguard's eyes seem to light up at the mention of important goods. However, the look diminished as the Argonian offered an irritated-sounding response:

"We were transsporting peopless, not goodsss." He paused a moment before adding with even more bite. "But I'm glad you find my losing my livelihood ssso exc(ss)iting..."

The Raft of Lame Speed

Maurzol tried his best to keep in an optimal form, but the unforgiving waves and mercy in speed was to rue. To looked around to see if the storm would give any sight for shore, if it is off to sea they go

Raft.

Sinyail noted the return of the argonian; Psyfalia would now be lost to the depths. "Goodbye, Psyfalia."

His attention turned to getting to shore, for though they were safe momentarily here, they needed to reach land.

Raft

Sees-In-Shade hung his head with both exhaustion and shame as he kneeled on the raft, shivering. "N-Nothing to be done," he finally murmured. "Sssithisss takesss h-her ... kaoc, so c-cold ... "

As he numbly collapsed on the raft, the Argonian vaguely reflected that he had become much better at discerning the genders of the other races since boarding the ship.

Figured I'd make this post just 'cause it wouldn't make sense for her to really do anything else at this point, not until she's rested. When she wakes up though she'll be wondering what exactly is going on.

Minor Edits and Hissien, let me know what you think of how your characters look for the TV Tropes page - I posted my images on this post. If it's drastically wrong I can try to re-do them, but if it's good, then I'll use them.

Union and Hissien, let me know who I should change the poster of the first post and character posts to!

Cave - Niralie

As Arellius spoke, Niralie closed her eyes and drifted off into a dreamless sleep. She shivered as the icy air met her bare skin, but it was not enough to wake her; the exhaustion and her injuries had caught up to her. One of the others would have to see to it that she was warm enough.

Kelessa rolled her eyes. "It's exciting for me, because then I actually get to do something instead of sit around and watch the sky like.. well a Arkay-kissed eunuch scholar." She stated simply, clapping her hands off one another in preparation. "Because by Akatosh's nuts this is dull.. present company excluded of course."

The Ship or rather- the raft

It would seem as if by miracle that those who had not yet lost their lives had made it to shore without so much as a lost limb due to the numbing cold but the Gods of this land seemed to be with the adventurers if only this once. Battered and exhausted, those that were still alive were washed ashore by the sudden change in the weather. The cold storm surge pushed them to the shore with a none too gentle crash, Sinyail suffered a minor abrasion to his arm but at this point that would have to be considered a blessing. The beach was rocky and craggy, the area which the survivors found themselves in was covered in smooth pebbles and driftwood with little visible beyond save icy cliffs and crags.

There was however, a path to walk along the shore and what looked like smoke rising on the horizon to the north of them. It wasn't far, just a short walk around the bend in the cliff. Other than that path, there was a way inland but there were no visible landmarks just a crack in the rocks that led up to another cliff face.

The Shore

The Argonian shuddered in the face of Kelessa and chuckled.. Or just gasped at this point his frozen posterior could use with some humor. "Let boredom be the leassst o-of your p-problemss." He said sound as exasperated as one could in his state.

Hidden:
okay so here's the short of it: I've got the shore group and Union has the cave group. I decided to save people this once because it's hard to charge a life and death situation with emotion when honestly I am not invested in it at this point. I think we could all use a break from the doom and gloom of drowning that we've all been having and some light humor is in heavy order.

Now, that said this will be my one moment of mercy and we are simply going to assume that it was with the blessing of whatever God you want to believe in that saved our group from drowning. I highly reccomend heading towards the smoke. But I won't force you to do so. So as it stands, everyone who was In the ocean is on the shore now, battered and bruised but alive enough to make it for a little while longer.

Yay! Glad to see it back up and running! :D

Yeah, Shadow's right; on the shore there's Kelessa, a still-unnamed female Redguard mercenary, and then the male Argonian crew member from the ship that washed up on shore who said his name was Slinks-in-Darkness.

Here's a couple things that Velvet had mentioned to me in the past that you DMs (well, probably Union, since it involves the cave characters) might like to know:
- He hadn't decided/rolled yet on whether or not Niralie is going to have any permanent effects from her head injury, so I suppose it's up to you to figure that out
- He said Arellius would not go back to look for/rejoin the ship group if the cave group decides to do so
- When I was double-checking that I had an accurate Berserk Button for Arellius on the TV Tropes page, Velvet said that yes, it's right; he said that Arellius liked to be in control and that it was kind of "his thing". So that might be something to keep in mind when playing him; I thought it was interesting, and makes sense from the way we've seen him act.

I'm actually thinking of skipping the Cave Group to the nearby city of Winterhold and figuring out where to go from there. El Would that be okay with you guys?

Seeing as Eolwyn probably had to come from some center of civilization I would like to have them head there, have the necromancer jailed (Not permanently of course, plenty of opportunities for escape), and then deal with whatever's thrown at them.

Well, as far as where they're going to go, their cave is equidistant from Windhelm and Winterhold, although to get to Winterhold they'll have to get up the cliffs. If they went to Windhelm, one possibility for Nandrnil to get away is that when they were making Skyrim, there was going to be an arena in Windhelm and, if you were imprisoned in Windhelm, well, one unused NPC claims that they don't have people sit in cells there, but rather fight for your freedom. If you win, you go free; lose, and you're dead.

I'd like to at least have one more scene in the cave yet, when Niralie wakes up. She and Eolwyn haven't met each other yet, she doesn't know what happened out there, and she still thinks that Nandrnil is just some random adventurer that was a bit jumpy; she doesn't know that he's wanted for murder. I think there could be some interesting interaction between at least those three there, and it would be weird to just jump past that (especially since what they say during such a scene might affect how she thinks of them). That's also when the group can discuss where they want to go afterward - if they want to decide between the two towns, if they want to discuss looking for the ship, whatever.

In that case then interact away, yo. There's not much else I can do besides control Valentia and Arellius, and right now they're not really the focus of the action. I'd just like to be away from the cave thing ASAP, it's stifling, IMO.

Do you just want me to do the timeskip then? Or you make a DM post? Hissien and Aarah, you're okay with timeskipping to the next day, I assume?

Oh, and who wants the first post and who wants the character post, btw? I can change the poster on a post.

If Hissien's okay with it, I'd like for him to have the character post.

DM POST TIME. I'm going to be referring to this general crew as the 'Windhelm Group' for now, until necessity demands a new name.

If there's anything else I need to add to this, let me know.

Windhelm Group - City of Windhelm

The incident at the cave passed like a blur to several of those involved; perhaps it was a combination of hypothermia and exhaustion wearing down their minds. By the time all was finished, Eolwyn practically had to drag her quarry back to the nearest city of Windhelm.

Niralie would survive her ordeal, though any long-term effects from her injury were yet unknown.

Valentia and Niralie would find themselves waking in a run-down inn in Windhelm, the name of which was yet unknown to them. The latter noted a few bandages wrapped around her head. In the corner of the room, a young bosmeri woman soaked a rag in a bucket of water; she was apparently assigned to tend to them. Arellius was nowhere to be seen.

Eolwyn was paid for her bounty, and Nandrnil was placed in the local prison of Windhelm. Eolwyn had the entire range of the city to explore at her leisure, though she was likely to face prejudiced behavior in the wealthier sections of town. She had knowledge of the inn that the people she ran into were staying at; a low-end inn called the Exile's Rest located in the city's Snow Quarter.

Nandrnil, on the other hand, found himself waking in a dreary cell with nothing but the rags on his back and cheap wooden shoes. The cell had a small window almost out of reach, barred and serving only to let sunlight in. Most of the cell was quite dark. Outside the bar door of his cell, he could see a guard nodding off in a stool, only visible by torchlight.

Kelessa rolled her eyes. "Boredom is always my problem." She stated. Her hands grasped the Argonian as she put him closer to the fire, maybe then he won't be so shivery. "Dibella's teats you're annoying though." She added under her breath. A look over at the Redguard and she shrugged. "Want to check out the ship now or later?"

somehow I don't think that's what she meant

The redguard, looked at the Argonian and rolled her eyes before looking back at Kelessa. "Wait here for a bit. Don't want the fire to die." She said speaking in a short sort of way that made it clear she didn't like doing so. She tossed a dry piece of driftwood onto the weak flame, judging that to be enough, sighed contentedly.

"Let's go." She said a few moments later.

Niralie - Inn

When Niralie opened her eyes that morning, it was the first time she'd been fully lucid in what felt like weeks. Between her head injury, exhaustion, cold, and hunger, she'd spent the last few days in a weak daze. She'd been aware of leaving the cave, struggling along as she was aided by someone, possibly being carried some of the way. Apart from those impressions, though - faint enough that they almost felt like dreams - she remembered nothing about what had happened since Nandrnil had offered to help them in the cave.

She was still sore, too. Both her chest and head still ached, despite the bandages that she could feel wrapped around her. But at least it wasn't as bad as it had been before. And they seemed to be somewhere safe and warm: she would recover more quickly here, not having to battle the elements in addition to her wounds, and perhaps she could see a healer if they hadn't brought one already.

She stared around the unfamiliar room and caught sight of Valentia. "Hey, Tia," she greeted her. "Where are we?"

Name: Dorian Laennec

Race: Breton

Sex: Male

Age: 21

Appearance:
Hidden:
Image

Despite his typical surroundings, Dorian's face is unmistakably aristocratic in form, bearing high cheekbones and a hooked nose. At odds with his features, his medium-length black hair is tousled and unkempt, and his face is frequently accentuated with dirt and a few days worth of stubble. His slanted eyes are a light blue color and above them lie a pair of straight, thin eyebrows. His body is lean yet strong as a result of his constant activity, though a sudden drought of septims would likely leave him malnourished.

Personality: Dorian projects the aura of an upbeat and charismatic attitude. However, he is a lethal killer and his time as a Laennec courtier has taught him to wield his Illusion magic handily and without guilt. Survival is his main goal, and he will do anything to keep his life.

A short bio: Born as a servant to House Laennec in northern High Rock, it was not long before Dorian's lineage was put into question a few years after his birth. This intrigue was likely due to his uncanny resemblance to the Lord of the House, Jacme, as well as his considerably comfortable quarters nearby the warm kitchen. However, Jacme and his wife had failed to produce a legitimate heir, and Jacme would rather put a lowborn [&@%!] on the throne before either of his brothers. And thus, life continued to improve for Dorian after the revelation. Despite the contempt his step-mother and much of the close nobility, Dorian was given a seat beside his father at meals and was in all respects, treated as a true noble. In time, however, Jacme produced another son, this time with his wife, thereby dissolving Dorian's already tenuous claim. At age 17, Dorian was more or less forced from the castle by the rejoicing couple, who were glad to banish the scandal from the thoughts of the other nobility. Luckily, he had received a fair bit of training to prepare him to play the political games commonplace in High Rock, and with the help of both magic and wits, Dorian managed to survive by picking up odd jobs, wandering constantly and skirting the law more often than not. This was his life until now.

Skills: A skilled illusionist, Dorian can use his Charm to alter emotions and banish thoughts he deems "unhealthy". However, using his Charm is a great risk due to its chance of failure, particularly if used against one of strong mind. On the other side of the coin, he can flare emotions to send his target into a Frenzy, though it is still susceptible to failure and what they do afterwards is out of his control. Dorian is not especially built for head-on combat and prefers to avoid combat through stealth, though he can handle a blade if need be.

Items: As a wanderer, Dorian carries all of his things on his person. He is clothed in a leather breastplate with greaves and boots of the same material. He is swathed in a weather-beaten, dark green hooded cloak. Dorian wears a belt around his waist from which hang several pockets, which hold his meager amount of septims. Hanging from his shoulder is a satchel containing food and other supplies such as herbs and medicines, next to which an iron longsword is strapped to his back. He wears the silver signet ring of House Laennec on his left hand.

City of Windhelm- The Run-Down Inn

Dorian Laennec was hard at work on the ground floor of the inn, holding his water-damaged map over a candle and cursing under his breath. Stowing away on that ship in Northpoint had seemed like such a good idea at the time, the guards had been on his heels after all. Had he any idea he'd be discovered in the hold as the ship approached Windhelm, and unceremoniously tossed into the frigid water, perhaps he'd have been more careful in his choice of escape. He supposed he was lucky for not having been turned over to the guard as a thief and stowaway, but attempted murder was still attempted murder, and those sailors would pay for their misguided charity later.

Dorian hissed as the flame tickled the parchment, leaving a small black hole right over Whiterun. Regardless, the map seemed dry enough and he set it on the battered table, taking a sparing sip of his cheap mead and letting his eyes roam around the inn. He should speak to the bartender or the city guard to see if there was any work for him. The closest major city was Dawnstar, but he didn't feel like trekking alone through the snow without, at the very least, a change in scenery. Frigid wastelands dotted with big rocks and groaning trees weren't really his style.

Eolwyn - Candlehearth Hall -Windhelm

Eolwyn had slept soundly for the first time since leaving Winterhold several days earlier - before finally finding her bounty, the unexpected group of shipwrecked survivors, and slowly trudging along to Windhelm with them all in tow.

She sat alone at a table on the upper floor of the Hall, eating a boiled egg and some slices of fried horker meat. She yawned widely and put her feet up on a neighbouring chair.

For a moment, she considered the others that she had left at another inn in town, hoping that the young Breton woman was faring well. Niralie had managed to make the journey there and Eolwyn was sure she would make a full recovery now that she was being tended to properly.

She then turned her thoughts to Nandrnil, and what fate might befall him now that he was incarcerated.
She picked up a cup of ale and took a swig.

Spoiler:
I've come to realize that at this point in time, Candlehearth Hall wouldn't even be called that name at the time. The legend of the ever-burning candle comes from a guy dying in 4E.

But, what the hell. We'll just go with the name for now.

City of Windhelm

Exile's Rest (Run-Down Inn) - Top Floor

Valentia slowly rose from her best and tried to lift her arm to brush her hair out of her face, but found some resistance from the bandage that stretched from her shoulder to her arm and held her arm in place.

"I have no idea." Tia answered, looking around. Suddenly something shot to her mind and she hastily pressed her movable hand to her neck line. She felt great relief when she felt the touch of a metallic medallion. Good, it's still here...

The bosmer woman in the corner of the room looked at the two women as they came to. "You're at the Exile's Rest, travelers. A gruff man dropped the two of you off and paid for your healing, then left."

Exile's Rest (Run-Down Inn) - Ground Floor

The bartender, an elderly bosmer man, spoke to Dorian first. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that group that came through in the morning, would you?"

Candlehearth Hall

Eolwyn could spy the outside of the hall through the window not far from her table. It was calm outside, with only light snowfall drifting in the gentle wind. The sky was a light grey, indicating that the weather would likely hold fast for a time.

The top floor of the hall was empty, which was odd considering it was by far the most popular tavern in the city. The lower floor seemed to be bustling, however, moreso than when Eolwyn walked in. For a god while it was the average sound of chatter, with laughs and poorly sung tavern songs ringing out. Suddenly a conversation among some of the patrons grew in intensity, and erupted at the sound of a glass being shattered. It sounded to Eolwyn like a full-blown bar fight had just erupted downstairs.

The Exile's Rest

Dorian looked up, and for a moment, a flicker of annoyance crossed his face and then vanished. He addressed the aged bartender, "I presume you're speaking of the half-dead vagabonds that bearish man dragged in here? If so, I'm afraid I know nothing of the matter. However, I can guess that they've traveled a fair distance. and possibly met with some...difficulty."

He prodded the map thoughtfully, "I've barely just arrived in the city, myself. So I suppose I have something in common with your guests."
