Well, at least some of us are slowing things down a bit till Velvet's done with exams. It would make sense for Psyfalia to wake them up one after another - Niralie, Aenar, and Arellius - without, like, waking some of them up and then going back for Arellius later. So we're still posting but are intentionally not trying to make too much progress till then.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Llela and Katien are also asleep.
Below deck
The gentle shaking woke Niralie, although she was still mostly asleep when Psyfalia spoke and did not quite catch what she had said. She opened her eyes, and then, realizing that the others must already be up and outside, slowly swung her legs off the hammock and pulled herself to a sitting position with a slight groan. "Nngh. Morning, Psyfalia. Thanks for waking me."
She pulled back the collar of her robes to examine her injured shoulder, considering for a moment. She might be able to repair it entirely with one spell, but, she thought, it would likely take a lot of magicka. She decided that she did not want to leave herself vulnerable and unable to cast anything, not knowing what the day had in store - perhaps they'd get attacked by some sort of creature or enemy, or maybe her more uncertain "allies" would start a fight. "I think I'll just apply healing spells in small increments," she explained to Psyfalia as she put her left hand over the wound to use a brief spell. "Then I'll still be almost at full magicka, but it'll still mend fairly quickly."
Hi, everybody! Mars just gave me the green light to introduce Sees-In-Shade. Think of him as a smelly lizard version of Yossarian from Catch-22. Except he doesn't fly planes.
Name: Sees-In-Shade
Race: Argonian
Sex: Male
Age: 24
Appearance: A vibrant green Argonian with blue specks on his face, as well as a yellow belly and chest. Average build and height, though he's constantly hunching, making him appear shorter and wilder than most. His thick tail is constantly flicking around, even moreso when he's scared, which is often. Secretes a foul odor as a result of his nervousness. Currently wearing mismatched leather cuirass and greaves, and carries a steel shortsword.
Personality: Suffers from high anxiety, and is highly observant as a result. Frequently terrified, and constantly looking over his shoulder. Avidly avoids fighting unless he's backed into a corner and has no other choice. Likes fish.
A short bio: Sees-In-Shade's tribe, the Agatru, live in the northwest of Shadowfen. Their proximity to both Cyrodiil and Morrowind has turned them into one of the most militant Argonian tribes (the name roughly translates as "strong fighters"). His father, Fights-With-Rocks, had hoped his son would become a Shadowscale, but Sees-In-Shade was born under the sign of the Steed instead of the Shadow. Nevertheless, he worked for almost two decades to turn his son into a great warrior.
What Sees-In-Shade has learned from this is that war, like his father, is absolutely mad. He wants to return to his village, to his mother and sisters, and spend his life trying to fish. But his father has exiled him until he has proven himself a legendary fighter. If he had any other skills, he might just give up and settle down somewhere, but thanks to his father, fighting is his only real skill. So he has been wandering northeastern Tamriel for about 6 months now, trying to avoid slavers, bandits, thieves, spirits, beasts, bugs, and rustling bushes.
Sees-In-Shade followed the yelling, and soon emerged from the wilderness near the shore. He jumped from bush to bush, his eyes darting about frantically as he surveyed the cantons of Vivec and - a ship! A ship to take him away from this awful land! And there, on the deck near the boarding ramp, was another Argonian! And he wasn't shackled!!
Sees-In-Shade narrowed his eyes at the other figures on the deck. After a moment, when he was pretty sure no one was watching, he broke cover and scampered toward the boarding ramp, trying to hide underneath it. The tip of his tail was now moving so fast it was buzzing like a bee.
"Hey. Hey!" he quietly called to the Argonian in Jel. To anyone else, it would sound like a series of squeaks and grunts. "I am Sees-In-Shade. Please, get me out of here! I'll do anything! These greyskins are mad, all mad!"

Psyfalia watched as Niralie inspected her wound and agreed with her plan. "A spell every 2 hours should result in your wound being fully healed by the end of today but if you start experiencing any pain or it starts turning green, tell me immediately." the Altmer told her fellow mage as her bad mood started to fade due to Niralie and her recent injury.
RANDOM SILLY STATEMENT AS SIGNATURE! Praise Sheogorath!
The orc looked at the Altmer as if his words and concept were completely foreign to his own "Courtesy? One has no need if it means to belittle Maurzol.. nor does one have need for a Nord who hides his tail between his knees." His ending statement came off harsh, calling Per weak by ever means.
"I Seek Truth, Not For Power, But For Understanding"
The Altmer's response was instant. "Trust me master Orc, if I intended to belittle you I would be using a rather different alteration spell." His voice turned darker towards the end, as if he was actively contemplating it, before changing his tone of voice to a more positive tone.
"We are all in this together now. Whatever this happens to be... Everyone has their own skills, their own abilities, and their own place in this world, and one day you might just rely on this Per chap's own strengths for your survival."
He turned to the land side of the boat, his eyes narrowing in concentration, before turning to the Argonian on deck. "Jel." He paused. "If I'm not mistaken."
Niralie nodded at what Psyfalia was saying. That was more or less the treatment that she had been planning for her shoulder. She stopped and stared at Psyfalia for a moment with a look of horror on her face when the other Altmer suggested it turning green. Niralie thought that it was healing well and in no danger of getting infected, but the shock of that mental picture was not what she needed. She composed herself a moment later and stood up briskly. "Right... I'll keep that in mind."
She reached into her bag and pulled out her pouch of enchanted rings, replacing the one on her finger with one containing a waterbreathing enchantment. When first enchanting it, she had chosen a ring set with a small pearl: it reminded her of bubbles and of the ocean. She would feel more comfortable at sea when wearing it, just in case anything were to happen.
With a goodbye nod to Psyfalia, Niralie made her way out of the cabin, feeling prepared to face the day. She didn't know if any of the others had heard her crying in the night, but she would act normally. Her nightmares didn't need to affect her waking hours. Her optimistic mood soured instantly when she stepped on deck, and she gaped at their surroundings in disbelief. They were still in the city? How was this possible, with all the urgency of having to leave the day before? She looked around for the nearest member of the group and spotted Valentia. "Hey, what's going on?" she asked the younger woman, walking over to her. "Why are we still in Vivec?"
"Well... we're stuck at port. We're supposed to crew the ship ourselves." Valentia replied, twirling a dagger between her fingers carefully to avoid cutting herself, yet with familiarity. "I'm having none of all that heavy lifting, so... I think they're going to have me peel potatoes. Which, I'm fine with honestly."
Saying that, Valentia paused her dagger twirling. She was about ask Niralie what the date was since she had forgotten, but upon seeing her companion's face, she decided to ask a different question. "Niralie, are you alright? Is your shoulder still hurt?"
"It is Jel," the anonymous Argonian sailor said in response to Sinyail. "Yet he refers to himself by his human-given insult of a name while trying to appeal to me by using a tongue that means nothing to me." Though his reptilian features made it impossible to read his disposition, his words and tone made his disdain for his kinsman abundantly clear.
"That's great for you. What do you want?" he asked Sees-in-Shadow in the common tongue. Raylis also perked up and observed the exchange. He had no proof beyond the newcomer's sneaky demeanor, but he may well be a spy.
Below deck
Sethesi continued her quest of waking all the ones that had yet to be woken; namely Katien and Aenar. "Heeeeeey!" she called, hammering on the ship's wooden hull with the bottom of her fist. "We gotta get going!"

"Huh?" Niralie was slightly taken aback by the abrupt change in topic. "Oh, yes, it's still sore, but it's healing. But wait a minute, you said that we're the crew? Raylis didn't tell us that!" She shot the Dunmer a glare, but he didn't see, as he was focused on something on the dock. "That's kind of sneaky, hiding something so important."
Below Deck
Incomprehensible grumbling came from Aenar as he swung himself out of his hammock. "What do you mean 'we have to get going'? Shouldn't we already be moving?" he questioned as he rubbed his eyes.
"Niralie, I don't think Raylis knew." Valentia clarified. "I think it was more along the lines of the ship captain hiding it from us. Which is, still, rather sneaky. Just on their part."
Ceasing her dagger twirling, Valentia pocketed her small dagger. "I'm just glad you're feeling better."
Sees-In-Shade squeaked in fright, pulling his head back into the shadows. His horns scraped against the bottom of the ramp as he did so, further terrifying him. His mind raced as he struggled to remember the barking of the complicated common tongue. Finally, one hand on the hilt of his sword, he stuck his head out again and craned his neck to look up at the deck.
"Sssorry," he hissed in the unfamiliar tongue. "If I ssstay here, I will passss down the river. I can feel it in my sssnout. Pleassse, take me to new watersss, and I can help you! I do not sssail, but I learn fassst! Let usss all leave the god-cccity!"
Thumping from the hull of the ship caused him to squeak and hide underneath the ramp again.
Spoiler:
Sorry, Mars, Jel isn't too fleshed-out yet. Whatever Sees-In-Shade's Jel translation would be, I don't know it.

I know, that wasn't a critique of writing, just the character's opinion. As far as I understand names after Sees-in-Shadow's fashion are human-given because they can't pronounce their real names, or because the Argonian doesn't care to give, while names after the style of Teinaava, Jeelius etc are "true" Argonian names.
"Er," the Argonian sailor said, turning to Raylis. "I dunno what to make of this. He didn't tell me anything besides his name and the fact that he's a colossal coward. It's your call. I'll get back to getting us outta here."
The Dunmer approached the ramp and looked down at the hiding Argonian; or the place he believed him to be in, anyhow.
"Come out so I can see you," he commanded.

Sees-In-Shade emerged cautiously and stood at the end of the ramp, his tailing flickering. His hand stayed on the pommel of his sword.
"Coward? Yesss, coward!" His head bobbed with enthusiasm as his eyes flickered around the deck. "I am a coward. Not a murderer, not a thief."
Sees-In-Shade narrowed his eyes at the Dunmer the other Argonian had addressed, his tail flicking quicker. "And not a ssslave, greyssskin," he continued with an edge in his voice. "I bring to you what you bring to me."

Sinyail turned to Raylis. "I must confess, even as someone prone to giving second chances, I am... struggling. Something tells me we should take him on, but right now I can't think why..." Sinyail's voice faltered.
The Dunmer turned to Sinyail. "You spoke to one of my order in the Temple in Suran, correct?" He didn't wait for an answer, he already knew it. "My orders dictate that everyone who comes to me is to be taken in." He turned back to the Argonian.
"Come on deck," Raylis continued. "You'll be under my direct supervision." He paused for a moment before adding: "as a security measure. Just so you know, everyone on this boat will be working for their passage, so if your not being a slave entails being an idler, I'll change my mind about you."
Below Deck
"I hear ya..." Llevana glumly commented on Llela's remark. "C'mon, we should go up on deck and see what's up."

Sees-In-Shade tentatively but quickly boarded the ship and glanced furtively around the deck. His tail continued to flick about, moreso as he regarded the meaner-looking folk. "Idle? No, never idle! The idle fly getsss ssswatted!" He slapped his hands together for effect, then cringed, afraid that he'd made too much noise. "I am Ssseesss-In-Ssshade." He growled quickly, bobbing his head to Raylis and Sinyail. "I bubble with greetingsss! I bring you no harm. I will ssswim with you, if our ssscalesss shine together. You need a climber? A rower? I do many thingsss! Let me do them now, yesss?"

"Thanks." Niralie smiled. She glanced over again at the few who were standing at the edge of the boat. "I do still want to talk to Raylis about the crew thing yet, though. Whether it was his deception or the captain's, it's not good for us to not know what we're getting into." She paused for a moment, continuing to watch them. She raised an eyebrow as an Argonian boarded the ship. "I wonder what's going on over there," she remarked. "I think I'll take a look - want to come?"
Valentia nodded and shrugged simultaneously, more than a bit annoyed that there hadn't been any movement towards Cyrodiil. Might as well be swimming at this point... she thought to herself, huffing.
"Sure, I'll come." Valentia agreed. "Say, Niralie? Do you happen to know what day it is?" she asked. "All of this confusion, I forget where we are in the year. Morrowind's climate is just so... odd, I suppose."
Apologies for misnaming Sees-in-Shade several times, Edits u_u. For some reason I didn't check before posting.
"Very well, come aboard," Raylis said and stepped away from the ramp in order to allow Sees-in-Shade to climb aboard. After a brief exchange of words with the other Argonian on the ship, Raylis had orders for him:
"Your job for now will be to help those two-" he pointed at Per and Maurzol "-hoist and set the sails. They will be working from the ground while you and I do what's to be done on the mast."
He turned around to make his way to the muscle duo, and crossed eyes with Niralie as he walked. He gave a nod and turned his gaze back forward.
Meanwhile Llevana and Llela had made their way onto the deck. Llevana let out a sigh as she saw they were still in the port, as feared.

Per took little offence from Maurzol's comments, looking only bemused. "Eh. If you say so, big man. You just hoist that sail, alright." He took a few steps back and let the orc do his thing. He had no problem letting someone else take his workload for him. " I'm right'ere if ya need some help."
