Hey there.
I recently got Daggerfall, and using it on DosBox but!
It is really slow, i only managed to click 'Start New Game'.
Im stuck on picking race, can anyone help me with this?

How many cycles (or whatever they are called) is your DosBox set on? Default 3000 is probably too slow...

If that's the case, open the DosBox.conf file. Under the fourth section, you should see the headings "core", "cycles", "cycleup", and "cycledown". Change the number or word next to cycles to.... well... 12,000 to start. If your computer can handle that, try 15000.

If you still want the game to go faster with less lagging, set the frameskip to one (that's under the third section).

Here's a wiki about DosBox...

Core auto-selection seems to favour the normal core with Arena and Daggerfall. Explicitly selecting the dynamic core should give you a sizable boost. See also "General:Playing DOS Installments under DOSBox" in the UESP wiki.

3000 hasn't been the default in a while. DOSBox now defaults to 'auto'.

Must've gotten an old version. :oops:

Actually, I think it was default on auto. However, for some reason it decided that auto be 3000 for me.

Well, i set the cycles to 12000, but i still cant pick race.
I wish Magnus still were on, he could probably help me :?

I can pick 'start new game' easy enough.
Then i click Morrowind but nothing happens.
The same thing about the other provinces.

And, i can only 'Start New Game' by clicking 'S'.
:?

That's positively bizarre! Could you post your DOSBox configuration file (ideally with comments removed) here?

Try changing
memsize=16 to memsize=40
(or more?) I have had it on 40 for a while. The framerate can get really bad indoors for some reason, might be because i did the view distance hack. I'm going to try this on a higher value.
Try changing
core=auto
to
core=dynamic
I also had cycles=max

I also have this little bit at the end of it..got it from the wiki or some install guide...

Code: Select all

@echo off
mount c "c:\Program Files\DOS" -freesize 1000
mount d y:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
c:
