Bugged Black Soul Gems

I never actually took the time to make my own black soul gems, but I noticed after I finished the mage guild quests something weird started happening. Black Soul gems started appearing in my inventory, all with greater or grand souls in them. Right now I have about 40, and I keep having to store them because they take up an obese amount of space (they don't stack in the inventory). As far as I can tell I'm just soultrapping normally, but I must be doing something terribly wrong (or right). It's nice that I don't have to worry about recharging my weapons, but whats the deal?
