Birds. When I go to Anvil, I can hear gulls, but I've never seen any.
Vargon wrote:Also, why are there sewers if there aren't any bathrooms. :?:
The sewers are probably used to channel rain water off the streets. If you go to Chorrol, you can see holes covered with grating on the side of the sidewalk, that leads to Chorrol's sewers.

I'm pretty sure there aren't children because if there were, you could kill them, making it probably an AO game. I'm pretty sure I heard that from someone on this site a while ago, before my hibernation. oh well

Oh and bathrooms and eating are not required probably because it would turn into a game that was too much about life, like the sims. You wouldn't be concerned about making money, buying houses, cleaning out ruins, doing quests, and all the other fun things, you'd be thinking "Oh damn my dude needs to take a dump." and considering how fast days go by in oblivion, I think you'd be spending a lot of time eating and pooing.

Children aren't in the game so you can't kill them.....darn,er, I mean not that I do that sort of thing. :Twisted Evil:

The reason why there are no bathrooms is because there black]Weren't bathrooms back then. They had chamber pots which they would keep under the beds. Thats why.

Gross, but still, why no sports, unless you consider that arena a sport......

And what better sport than hacking and beating your enemy until they are nothing but a sticky, pulpy, mess?

I personally wonder why there are no legion forts in the game it is the capital yet no troops seem to protect it except maybe one or two riders in the wilderness

What I find is amazing is that everywhere I go, There are no kids like The King was saying. Why dont they like kids? They must be ageist.

maybe they are born as adults (but that would really hurt I'm guessing) they might start of as dwarves... So that is why we never see any dwarves because they are all just young people makes sense

On children:

"M'aiq believes the children are our future. But he doesn't want them ruining all of our fun."
A reference to discussion on the forums during development about whether children should be included in Oblivion. One group wanted children to be in to add realism; the other group argued that if children were added then the player would be allowed to kill them and the game would be denounced as a child murder simulator - critics would fall on Bethesda like Cliff-Racers after an adventurer in the Molag Amur region. Some in the first group then would say that making the children invincible would solve that; the opposition countered this saying that doing that would ruin any initial realism. See where this is going?
On other things:

oh yeah how could they forget the forts?! it took me a while when i saw first fort to realise that it's abandoned. I was thinking why are they abandoned? why are they destroyed?!? at first i went inside the forts hoping to find some soldiers there (i thought that maybe their budget was cut or something).

One thing about dead people in Oblivion is that you can loot their clothes, leaving a corpse in its underwear.

In Morrowind, a dead body would wear the armour and clothes that you put on it. Why not in Oblivion? There might be a situation where you want the guards to believe that a dead body is someone else so you dress the body in anothers' clothes.

I think that the real reason why there are no kids in Oblivion has to be the outrage that would follow when the general public found out that you could kill a child and strip its body nearly naked. Oblivion would become associated with paedophilia.

Appearance-wise, I would like to be able to customise my character's body more. Have longer arms or legs maybe? Perhaps improving your strength and endurance would improve your physique and drinking too many potions/beers/wine and eating too many ingredients would make you fatter? High level characters might end up looking like most WWF wrestlers: big and quite fat, but still strong?!
Although, to be honest I thought it was a pain in the arse having to keep feeding CJ in GTA Vice City. There can be too much immersion I suppose..

Sorry for Off-Topic but.
CJ was in San Andreas ?

On Topic again.
Yes, i fully agree with you, that you should be able to dress other people in clothes when they were dead, like if you wanted to get rid of your bounty, you could kill a guy, and then dress him in your clothes, and then you got rid of the bounty.
And, you should have a bounty system, like the one in Reneer's Guard Overhaul mod.

Usable boats.
Variety of mounts.
Levitation and/or flying.
No omnipotent guards. Only guards in the offending city should know of your bounty.
You should be able to put books in the shelf "inventory" and have them display alphabetically. Same for wine bottles in racks, weapons in weapon racks, display cases, etc.
Should have "dousing" arrows that can put out torches.
Should be able to put multiple enchantments on clothing items.
Should be able to "unenchant" and "re-enchant" items.
"Outfits" should not eliminate location slots for clothing enchantments, each piece should be separate.
More armor variety, especially in the stealth department.
Include Bards and music skill, interaction options.
People should recognize you as guild leader, arena champion, champion of the realm, etc. and respond accordingly, instead of as random rumor.
Disguise skill.
Items that grow with you. (KotN does this a little)
More undercity areas, and sneaky sorts in these areas.
Dwarves!
Horses shouldn't count as guild members.
At 25% Vampirism, you should look normal...how do the NPC Vamps manage to look fine? Sun damage needs to be more severe.
Add an ingame screenshot option, and the ability to see character's front (consoles). Be able to export this via USB.

I would like to see traffic on the rivers. Big and small boats sailing up and down the river, docking in the cities for a day or two, then leaving.

The game contains no children because they would all have to be invincibloe otherwise the game would be marked as a similated infant/chiled killing game, and would of been taken from T - AO, or now M - AO, and most AO games cannot be sold off regular markets. And thats my Two Bits.

With the children problem, you could just (like Children of Morrowind) give them lots of hp, and if they got involved in combat, they could just teleport(vanish) and respawn, say 3days after.

Thats my opinion

I agree, you should have pet stores, where you could get animals as followers, that when you talked to you could tell, "Come!" or "Stay!". Also more riding animals. I think two more would be cool. One for the water and one for air. So maybe a smaller sea serpent you could ride in water and it went as fast on water as horses do on land and as slow on land as horses do in water. And dragons would be cool to ride in air.
