I ve read a lot of people having problems with this quest, so i made a short video of how to complete it without being detected for all you who want a good character:

Good stuff, that's exactly where I chose to stand and cast. Unfortunately as I was invisible when I ran out, there was an unfortunate incident where the Countess's maid and a guard killed each other.

Nice, thanks! Where does one acquire the quest? I don't think I have run across it yet...

I think you have to stumble across the shrine and talk to the weirdos that tend to hang around shrines to evil daedra lords and they'll let you know basically what you have to do to kick off the mission. That's what I had to do for the Azura quest.
Then I led a bear to the shrine and watched it maul all the annoying worshipers.

Ummm, ok, thanks, but... which shrine? (He answers questions just like my wife does). Oh wait, DUH, read the heading, Mouser. Sorry!

*sigh* "What color is the night?" "Sanguine, my brother!"
think about it! the DB uses the NIGHT mother as their goddess....what color is associated with the DB? blood (also the door color)
so sanguin is a reddish dark color
http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/sanguine clearly states that sanguine is "bloodred" also subliminal message saying the night is always stained with blood for those of you less fortunate in mind
...back to the topic...just look on google for a site that has a map of daedric shrines then you can just fast travel to the nearest location and run / ride there and if your looking for the sanguine related quest... you might try working on illusion while you run around til you get to expert(ghostwalk invis for 1 minute and another spell *cant remember name* for chameleon 75%) both of which kick all the guild quests asses cause you dont have to fight with ghostwalk just run by! it doesnt need to be a major skill of yours either. its a little bit of money but that shouldnt be an issue.
i have so many weapons in my IC shack and potions and silver kitchen items from loot! if your going to buy a house make sure you have the one in imperial city for 2000$ and the storage for 700ish, mages/fighters guild lets you have a plave to sleep in every other city but not in Imperial City. so unlimited storage in that chest and you never have to sell anything ever! unless you want to buy another house(lockpicks and repair hammers can be looted or bought with quest money) (>++)> Spoiler <(++<) the weps from loot after you purify the DB chedinhal sanctuary is awesome if you need a weapon and kill with the bonus and you get major cash and items along with Shadowmere(hero horse infinite storage as well)
"Using the horse, Shadowmere, as movable storage.
Shadowmere is a hero character, meaning that you can not kill him. Since he is an animal you can loot him when he is knocked unconscious. You can also stock up items on him and they will stay on him throughout the game until you knock him out and remove them.
The steps to do this are as follows:
1. Get Shadowmere (Fort Farrgut) and knock him unconscious (kill him).
2. When he is laying on the ground you can open his body like any normal corpse.
3. Place any items you wish to transport into his corpse's inventory.
4. Let him get up and then go and take him wherever you want.
5. To get the items back you can knock him out and take them out. They never disappear.
You can have items in him for as long as you want. Even if he respawns back at the Fort Farrgut he will still have your items on him." >> gamespot.com

I made it through the quest by doing something similar. But I wasn't able to hide well enough to avoid being spotted so I resisted arrest, cast an inviso spell and went to Skrivva so she would help me get off the hook. But, of course, I didn't have any gold so I was outta luck. A strange thing happened then... I decided just to do the time and when I approached a Bravil guard so he would arrest me, he said something like, "you're in a bit of trouble eh? Well, don't fret it, I will take care of it." and that was that. So far, that has been the biggest surprise of anything that's happened to me in this game.

GrayMouser: Is it possible that the guard decided to pay your fine for you because your fame is at least 100 greater than your infamy?

Guards will take care of your fines is you are awesome enough. Or in other words, if your fame is high.

It's not the fame infamy rating because right now it's 37 fame, 101 infamy. Ouch. I guess that's why they're all calling me scum... lol

well, its not only your fame level that affects this. Its their disposition towards you. If he likes you, say, 100 points, hell take care of petty crime fines for you. MURDER IS NOT A PETTY CRIME! everything else is, for as far as i know. not sure about assault though.
Fame only makes people like you more, amongst others. So does personality (and charm spells

)
